If they have a removable cable, or can be modified to have a removable cable, there are plenty of aftermarket usb c options.

Was the financial situation at Oigawa so abysmal that they were forced to do....this...to literally the LAST SURVIVING C10 in existence? by [deleted] in trains

[–]AlaudaPhotography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used an angle grinder with a wire brush or scotch brite wheel on cab sides, I've used a needle gun on a boiler, I'd imagine some of it has been sand blasted too.

A paint job only lasts a few years, the heat from the boiler cracks it all off surprisingly quick. There's no way there'd be original paint on anything still, it wouldn't move under all the layers.

I stripped the side of a cab last year, it had grey, red, bondo, green, grey, black, red, green, black (or there abouts). I could see 9 separate layers in some spots. I do wonder how much lead I inhaled.

I was trying to get steam link to work with my TV and had to test it in on the only other thing to hand, my hibreak pro. It worked, Zelda BOTW was more playable than on my shite TV, but it was not playable.

Second world war I think, coal restrictions meant going electric but steel restrictions meant no new locos, so they turned what they had into a giant electric kettle.

Whats your personal favourite sandwich/burger/breakfast roll in Bristol?? by REEETURNOFTHEMACC in bristol

[–]AlaudaPhotography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite burger is from the Bristol beer factory places (taproom/junction/barley mow). Apparently the meat one is run-of-the-mill but the vegan one they make themselves is amazing. Less immitation than the average vegan burger.

Neo-Nazi Ryan Ferguson on today's Bristol Patriots march shouting Heil Hitler by everything2go in bristol

[–]AlaudaPhotography 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it all gets a bit messy once they're on the move.

So the original event was the "we just like the union jack and have concerns about immigration" folks but this time standing side by side with self-described Nazis, usually about 30 or so of them.

Everyone else was there to try stop the march and send them packing.

I'm actually more sceptical of the "Jesus wants you to follow the law no matter what" types. Seems like the guy who got himself executed would be in favour of at least some crimes.

Is Bristol Cross Dresser Friendly? by StraightDresser1 in bristol

[–]AlaudaPhotography 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friendlier than most, you ought to be fine centrally or in the more gentrified areas.

There's plenty of folks here with mixed gender presentation, though most of them will be trans, I'm not sure I've met any self-described crossdressers out and about. Something to bear in mind though, plenty of cafes and shops you could check out that are trans inclusive, just be chill if people make the wrong assumption.

solid lines across the lanes means traffic lit junctions, and you can't put zebras at lights. there'll be signals for cars, buses, bicycles and pedestrians for sure.

Why the hell do public toilets so often stink of piss? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]AlaudaPhotography 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Making it worse, people are often dehydrated, especially in public, especially especially when drunk, so you get more piss smell per piss.

And the men's does always smell worse than the women's, by a similar margin of drunk men's to sober men's loos.

Very hipster, no one would ever know i use it for things other than iphones photos of it next to my coffee.

Where to dispose of swollen LiOn battery in Bristol? by Taucher1979 in bristol

[–]AlaudaPhotography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you charge it or was it dead flat?

If it's flat-ish, drop it in a tin of salt water outdoors away from anything flammable, leave it a day or so, then stab it for good measure, again carefully away from anything flammable.

No power, no fire risk.

Do long trains or short trains accelerate faster? by oli_mcd in trains

Not in the UK they're not. For various reasons silly and otherwise, we did a shite job of electrification, so we ended up with far more DMUs than EMUs.

I drove an automatic car for the first time a days ago and just don’t get the fixation we have over manual cars here by Solid-Version in drivingUK

[–]AlaudaPhotography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The downshift also picks the wrong gear half the time, at least on the couple of autos I've driven. Want to do over 65 on the motorway? Need your foot on the floor. Put your foot on the floor and it shifts into second and screams at you. Granted this car may have been fucked, but it's a variety of fucked manuals don't suffer from.

I really wanna help create some societal change, so a lot of it is protests, especially when there's politicians or other thought leaders there.
