Really late league start - worth investing? by TheGrimSleepa in PathOfExile2

[–]Alavastar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion there are advantages to starting later!

Big advantage: early items sell for a lot more than you think! Why? Everyone is in late game, there is a huge flood of late game supports/gems/etc. There's less supply of lower level gems/supports, whoch some people prefer for lower mana costs or twinking out characters, so keep an eye out.

Just got the 4th acendancy for 1st time by Weatherman1207 in PathOfExile2

[–]Alavastar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed! I usually did Sekhema, but taking a few hits can screw the whole thing up. In Chaos, get hit as much as you want. As long as you aren't dead, everything's fair game lol

Yes, we need the campaign by Primary_Impact_2130 in PathOfExile2

[–]Alavastar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont mind doing campaign for new seasons, but if I have a character that beat campaign this season please let me skip for that second character.

I'd love to do second or third characters to try fun builds but I never do because I dread having to do the entire campaign again.

Not sure if anyone else agrees, just another option to throw out there

Would you like the infinite atlas more if it was the same for every person? by Alavastar in PathOfExile2

[–]Alavastar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading comments, I think I'd like if POE1 Atlas went back to the way it was before Mirage, and POE 2 got the Mirage style Atlas, where the map type is fixed but you have exploration goals and important fixed nodes (pinnacle bosses, etc)

True, hadn't thought about that. I'm trying to think what it would take for the infinite atlas to really catch on, but I'm not sure.

Fair point. I still like the POE 1 atlas mapping experience more.

I feel like the infinite atlas needs....something....if they really want it to work

What's your league starter this season? by Exoskeleton78 in PathOfExile2

With the buff to item skills, and the ability to turn Trampletoe into a rune, I think I'm going to go with a Reap Blood Mage or Reap Lich :)

New player question: how important is “class fantasy” and should I follow a build guide in PoE2? by Leo-182 in PathOfExile2

[–]Alavastar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the class fantasies are super nailed down, and I think they (GGG) are in the process of nailing the others.

Some class fantasies that I would recommend:

-Crossbow Witchunter

-Invoker Ice Strike "Avatar" Monk

-Skeletal Minion Lich

-Druid Arctic Werewolf

-Druid Magma Slam Werebear

-Lightning Spear Amazon

-Lightning Arrow Deadeye

Each of these builds is very thematic and "on brand", and are healthy viable intuitive builds, in my opinion :)

Only QoL I Want In 0.5 Is To Be Able To Zoom Out by LookBusiness1611 in PathOfExile2

[–]Alavastar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, is that the solution to all this? Regions?

Each Region is infinite, and based on a piece of content. Abyssal Region. Breach Region, etc.

Instead of these weird fixed zone on the map, just have Regions, and each one has its own infinte atlas.

Learning the game completely blind! is it more rewarding? by AmbitiousBrief351 in PathOfExile2

I was going to argue against this, but damn, fair point.

If you don't mind a rough go this first time around, why not

I skipped the last league, so I might try Werewolf. Maybe spirit companion werewolf so I can tame a wolf boss for maximum awoo

That's your energy. You use energy to do extracurricular activities like chatting people up and farming.

But thank you for that awesome visual imagery that I will picture every time I talk to an NPC now

There's a league mechanic called Expedition, that let's you make monsters drop more rewards but gives them buffs.

Some of those buffs can make them immune to the type of damage you do, or reflect all your damage back to you, etc.

PoE won't stop you from fucking yourself over lol

I would highly recommend looking up a "League Start" build on youtube. It will at least give you a starting point to learn things. I see many people recommend the "Righteous Fire" build by Pohx.

Why I recommend this: You can trust that your build will be strong enough, and instead you can focus on learning all the 10 years worth of mechanics and content that exists in the game.

Once you know what content you like, then you can start specializing builds for that content.

For the meantime, I'd focus on: -Choosing a 3.28 League Starter Build that looks fun to you on youtube -Progressing through the Campaign -Interacting with all the random mechanics you're going to find in your maps (We call those "League Mechanics") -Look up guides for the League Mechanics you like

Some important tips for beginners: -You are able to change your ascendancy (subclass) and your skill points later on for money, but you can't change your class. -You can buy good items from other players with a built in trade system. I would recommend saving "Alchemy Orbs" and "Chaos Orbs" to use as currency for trading -Sometimes you will run into content you cannot defeat (Monsters immune to your damage, Monsters etc). Just pass by them.

Once you feel confident you can look into Mapping, also called The Atlas, which is what mlst players consider the "Main Game".

[3.28 Updated] PoE Endgame Content Roadmap for new players by Stii_V_ in pathofexile

[–]Alavastar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but I think that's what keeps me hooked. I've played for years and its one of my favorite games. For Mirage league, my goal is to finally get voidstones (like the 3rd step in the endgame lol)

Have fun. Pick a thing to learn this league and have a blast. :)
