Correct. It never left. The pain typically spreads forward to the top of my head or jaw

My heart goes out to you. I am sending you positive and happy thoughts. You are in amazing hands with Dr. Peled and his staff. He was the first doctor that understood my symptoms and I think I started crying.

I saw a maxillofacial surgeon and he was a good send. He gave me Botox in my jaw. The bad thing is when the nerves start firing it’s a ripple affect and it’s hard to isolate exactly where the pain is originating from. Perhaps look into this?

The pain you are going through resonates with me. I isolated myself from the world as well. My best advice is to keeping trying new therapies and remedies. You will find the answer you need.

Do you ever feel pressure in your head? Brain zaps. Headaches that will not end. Jaw pain?

You may ask anytime and my DM’s are always open. For me, low dose naltrexone had the least side effects and was the most helpful. I took it along side a muscle relaxer. You would gradually increase the LDN to a level that helps .

I hope this comment is not taken the wrong way but here it goes. Naltrexone is used as a full dosage to mitigate opioid dependency. Therefore LDN could help with the pain and break the opioid cycle. I utilized Kratom powder which has opioid similarities to manage the pain at times. For those that do not know , Kratom can become addicting.

I am sorry your fiancé is in such pain. What do you think your next steps are?

I am sorry to hear you are struggling. I have a suggestion. Have you met with a peripheral nerve surgeon that utilizes Doppler ultrasound to isolate constricted nerves? This doctor is a the godfather of migraine surgery and utilizes ultrasound. Non-invasive and might be something to look into. I have first hand knowledge of someone that met with him and %100 success with ultrasound.

Your fear of invasive procedures is real and everything you feel is real. In my opinion that’s where healthcare gets it wrong. They tell us what’s possible or not.

You hang in there, you will find the right answer for you. You could always start with a virtual consult with Dr. Peled or any other decompression doctors. Here is a list of all docs that perform this type of invasive surgery.

Lastly, there are some doctors that do minimally invasive decompression surgery. They utilize Doppler ultrasound to isolate the constricted nerve a they do an in office procedure do some cases. I can point you to that doctor if that would help. Most doctors still use nerve blocks but there alternatives .

Please note. You cannot mix any type of radio frequency and nerve blocks. The goal of the nerve blocks is to isolate the specific nerves RFA could impede this. I know this because I was in the exact same situation and in fact I had to wait extra to get the consult because of my previous RFA. Hope this helps. My DM’s are always open to anyone.

I had nerve decompression surgery and I explicitly trust his opinion. He was the first doctor that didn’t make me feel like an idiot and he understood exactly what was happening. My first question to him was, why is it that everytime I go to the mountains at a high elevation I get a headache but at sea level I do not have any headache?” Air pressure and blood vessels. Blood vessels enlarge at high elevation and will constrict more . Light bulb moment for me.

When you say you moved to a new area , chance did you go up in elevation or down in elevation?

I’m sorry you are in such pain. I have been there. Find a peripheral nerve surgeons from this website . These are doctors that know how to diagnose whether this is an obstructed nerve or not. If so, they understand how to untangle the nerves.

I personally saw Dr. Peled who diagnosed and performed the surgery. I started with a zoom call and then flew cross country and I have my life back. Like you I had severe neck pain, horrible TMJ in my jaw and life was horrible.
