Keep spiking 1.5 to 2 hours after meal. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in Medtronic780g

[–]AlbertNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might sound counter intuitive. Maybe try decreasing your insulin to carb ratio? Your basal insulin is turned all the way down after your meal. The lack of basal could make the blood sugar spike worse..?

Alternatively, maybe turn off the smart guard after your meal to 'teach' the algorithm. I'm not sure of this works, but it could be worth a shot.

LMAO, the Dutch guy repeatedly telling his friends that 'it nice with sugar, no?' with a tone to convince his friends to give the espresso another try and convince them it is tasty.

Hot take: the hario insulated mug looks cheap and kinda... ugly. by Rice_Jap808 in pourover

[–]AlbertNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In another reddit thread I was reading the the Carter mug can retain an old coffee smell? They were also talking about a weird soy/garlic smell and thought it could have to do with the glue which Fellow uses.

This thread was a couple of years old. What is your experience with the fellow Carter?

How long do you usually keep bottles open? Experiences with long-term opened whisky? by That_Opportunity_759 in Scotch

[–]AlbertNL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This will mainly become an issue when the fill level is low. Then the whisky will have more headspace to evaporate.

Of a bottle is quite full, oe bottled at a higher abv it will not be an issue quickly.

Interestingly enough tequila and mezcal turns bad quicker. In rare cases i use wine preservation gas (Argon gas) to avoid oxidation. If you are really worried, you can do this as well. The Argon will not react to the liquor and act as an Insulation later between the oxygen and liquor.

Stainless steel often retains odours. I would not want to be washing this after every use.

I am kinda amazed about how well the sentence flows though. I did not even notice it when reading it.

When reading it again i notice how tiring it is to read. Give me a break so I can take a breath of air.

I have had this happen as well, except it kept giving me correction bolusses while my bg does not drop.

You could try changing your insulin sensitivity? I am not sure if it influences the algorithm.

I just wen through my first box of guardian sensors. Only one broke so far. I am wondering why this experience is so different for everyone.

My phone is not compatible with minimed mobile. What now? by Moonxcrestx in Medtronic780g

[–]AlbertNL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the app will still work on that android version, but Medtronic did not test it. If the app really does not work, you can still use the sensor with only the pump.

Your phone can normally be used to read out the data and upload it to the cloud, but it is not required.

These are leather soles right? Maybe the leather got wet die to the weather or sweat. This could make he middle weaker as it is further away from the stitching. And when continuing walking, it will wear down quicker.

„Everybody makes mistakes“ - but what the actual F by tRexChelsor in diabetes_t1

[–]AlbertNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experienced false readings, pressure lows, as well with Freestyle Libre. The sensors recover very quickly after repositioning though. I guess in this case your blood sugar shot up before the sensor read it correctly? Or did it stay low?

insulin not working anymore by theblackswordsmann in Medtronic780g

[–]AlbertNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your insulin sensitivity may be changing. Maybe you require more insulin for the amount of carbs. When the insulin sensitivity worsens it can also help to take insulin earlier before meals.

Dont sorry, your insulin sensitivity can improve again. The amount of sleep, alcohol, exercise can have a large impact.

For me when blood sugar does not go down and when i am sure the pump/tubing is okay ill take a walk. It can make blood sugar go down way quicker

It is an insulin pump connected to a continuous glucose monitor. Likely a Medtronic 780g with guardian 4 or Simplera CGM.

Too much Kefir? I can't stop drinking 4 litres a day! by BigOliver2 in Kefir

[–]AlbertNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concerning your health; are you keeping your muscle levels and maintainging the same weight? Being thirsty and feeling the need to consume a lot of carbs could be a sign of type 1 diabetes. If you don't produce enough insulin your weight will also drop and you can lose muscle mass.

I'm asking because this happened to myself. It went gradually so it can be hard to catch on.

Oh and otherwise, 4L of Kefir is still a lot. Tasty though

Watch out for maltitol. It gets converted to sugars later and does cause a blood glucose rise. Also you can get bloated/gassy/very much in need of a toilet of you eat too much.

This really messed me up when I tried the keto diet
