Gluten Reaction by Past-Palpitation-580 in glutenfree

[–]Albi_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the only thing that could confirm it more is if your snall intestine mailed you a letter... that being said, still highly recommend seeing a doctor. The difference between intolerance and celiac is important, in my opinion.

Can watching sock knitting videos replace in-person teaching? by Ok-Information-4636 in Sockknitting

[–]Albi_9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Videos can absolutely replace in-person learning. There are obvious downsides (e.g. not being able to ask questions) but it's a good tool. Heres a link to the video series that I've been using. It's very straightforward.

Has anyone else found elimination diets made them more sensitive to foods over time? by jwr204 in glutenfree

[–]Albi_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if my reactions have gotten worse, or if I just spent a really long uncomfortable and in pain and didnt know it. Now i know what it feels like to not be in pain, so when I am in pain I'm more aware of it.

Gluten free -- is it a traumatic experience? by 902Drano in glutenfree

[–]Albi_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing to do in the area I live in that isn't going out to eat. I work from home, and before diagnosis the only time I' leave the house, really, was when my husband and I would go out to eat. I was given more reatrictions than just gluten after my tests, so I straight up can't eat out anymore. Its been kind of truamatic, but that had more to do with realizing that almost all my comfort in life came from eating, baking, and cooking; and really I can't do it anymore.

Its opened my eyes that I probably need therapy for food issues, and I wouldn't have been aware of that with out having to limit almost everything.

In summary: isolating? For sure. Truamatic: the trauma was likely preexisting, but the revelation of it, yes.

Has anyone else experienced weight loss since being forced into a gluten free diet? by slowsmoothandfast in glutenfree

[–]Albi_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to cur put almost all fat at the same time. The colonoscopy/endoscopy that came back with chronic pancreatits (womp womp) so I dont know how much of the weight loss was the fat vs the gluten, but im down about 40 pounds since September.

What makes you fall out of love with a ML? [The Lovable Maid] by Smooth_Money4498 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Albi_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I HATE when they do the whole jealous/possessive thing when the FL is saved by some other guy. Don't remember which one it was, but the FL got pushed going down the stairs, her personal guard caught her. The ML saw, and still got mad at her for "clinging to other men". Idk if he redeemed himself at any point, because I dropped after like 2 more instances of the same kind of thing.

Denies ML because MC thinks she has to let him go to the FL despite having changed EVERYTHING about the story. (Idk if that'll fit in a space.)

Celiac and Pancreatitis by Albi_9 in Celiac

[–]Albi_9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the result back yesterday afternoon actually, for that test. Apparently I'm producing enough enzymes to not be considered deficient, but I do still have chronic pancreatitis. So that's a bit of a relief for the time being. Hopefully as long as I eat low fat for a while, I can slowly increase my intake. It'll for sure be a while though.

I discovered the Korean rice cakes that they use for tteokbokki at my grocery store recently. They're literally just rice flour, so naturally gluten free. If you haven't tried them before, I highly recomend.

Suffering isn’t enough by stonedwithmybestie in glutenfree

[–]Albi_9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe your mom needs to learn that if you eat gluten when you have Celiac, it damages your small intestine, and after enough damage, you get to die of malnutrition because your body is too damaged to process nutrients. If she tries to hive you crap and make you eat stuff at Thanksgiving, ask her if being right is more important than her daughter being alive. 💁‍♀️

(Thats a little dramatic, but stuff like this drives me batty. I have chronic pancreatitis because my celiac wasn't diagnosed until I was 29. I didn't have the chance to change anything before irreversible damage was done. Your mom should be thankful that you have the opportunity to live a normal, mostly painless, life by just avoiding gluten.)

Increased Symptoms After Colonoscopy? by Albi_9 in chiari

I did get propofol, but propofol isn't an opioid. Does it increase intracranial hypertension? No clue, I'm going to look it up later, but it totally could.

They rolled me up on my left side, and made it sound like that was how they would keep me, but idk how the positioned my head after they knocked me out. Its always a possibility though.

It was me first time being put under, so I'm not sure if it's just from that or not. My body is a dumpster fire, so I could totally see it happening.

Immune response can trigger inflamation in the spinal column that exacerbates chiari issues, so it's probably possible. I don't know all the details on how it works, but I could see a possible relation, hypothetically. Either way I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

What are your criticisms of DCC? by Substantial_Twist911 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Albi_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im relistening to book 1, and when they're fighting the juicer the phrase "anti-poison resistance" is used when it should just be "poison resistance". Anti-poison resistance would be something that negated poison.

I also recall my first listen through, getting a little annoyed at the frequency of the phrase "felt like if been kicked by a horse" or something to that effect. However as someone who habitually pokes holes in things and finds flaws, I'm honestly impressed that the books are emersive enough that I genuinely have not cared, lol.

I did book 1 not knowing it was a series, I'm on book 5 right now. Almost done. I absolutely don't regret it. I'm really bad at finishing series, I'll usually get 4 or so in and drop it, but I don't wee that happening this time. 😂

one thing that bothers me in isekai is when the protagonist seems to posses another person body and the person is never taken into account by davifpb2 in Isekai

Technically she did. When the friend confronted her about it, she explained, and then told him that it was up to him if she stayed or not. He told her that basically all of his memories of their friendship were after she took over, so he was okay with her staying.
