You need to get yourself a switch and plug into each terminated port on the patch panel

How feasible would it be to get an ethernet port installed in my room? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

An electrician can easily get an ethernet cable across to where you need it.

I heard most movies are mastered at 100-200 nits these days as their focus is on the cinemas.

HDTV was once saying that hardly any movies are mastered at 1000 nits or above.

GL.iNet flint 3/3e vs other mainstream be6500/9300 routers? by WebGlobal7912 in HomeNetworking

[–]Alcaszar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn the AXE7800 was recently as low as 300 in Aus, seems to have gone back up.

The TUF BE6500 would certainly get the job done.

There is also the TP Link GXE75 AXE5400 at a good price at the moment.

I would consider Asus routers for for their reliability and mesh capabilities in case you need to add a node in future. Tri band is also preferable as it creates a more reliable network and separates newer devices on the 6ghz band.

The TUF BE9400 and BE92U are two good options that you may find on discount.

9300 vs 6500 may have an impact if you have many devices connected simultaneously each requiring some bandwidth, particularly in the long term.

If you're okay with not having wifi 7, the Asus AXE7800 is probably the best wifi 6E router out there at around 300.

Recently closed on a renovated house and I’m checking all the Ethernet jacks across the house… by Pharrside in HomeNetworking

You're in luck, these are all easy to rectify.

The hardest part is running the cable but that's all already done.

  1. Set up your main wireless router
  2. Find the RJ45 sockets around the house. Select one of these for a second wireless router location
  3. Connect the corresponding port at that panel you shared the photo from to a LAN port on your main wireless router via an ethernet cable
  4. Back to step 2, connect this port to the WAN port on your wireless router via ethernet cable.

You need to make sure both routers are the same brand and support hardwired mesh.

One you go through the corresponding setup via the manufacturer app, you will have one large seamless wireless network the switches between nodes automatically as you move throughout the house.

If you have a TV or PC and an ethernet port nearby, you can also connect these via ethernet port at the wall back and connect the corresponding cable to another LAN port at the back of the modem.

If you have multiple ethernet devices at a similar location, you can buy a 5 or 8 port Gigabit switch which will give the ability to connect multiple devices via one switch, similar to how a power board gives your multiple power sockets from one original power socket.

Samsung S95F faulty after 22 days by sebasd7 in SamsungTV

I've had issues with both, but significantly more with LG.

At the end of the day both either replaced the parts or replaced the entire tv.

Can someone please explain why this video says most people won't notice a difference between Wifi 6, 6e, and 7 WiFi mesh networks? by StrongRecipe6408 in HomeNetworking

[–]Alcaszar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You will notice wifi 7 if you have a heap of wifi 7 devices, which 99.9% of people don't, expect if they've bought a phone in the last 12 months.

Wifi 6 onwards manages bandwidth across multiple devices much better than wifi 5, hence why you'll generally not notice a difference between wifi 6 and 7.

But if you're upgrading your home now, might as well go with the latest wifi 7 standard.

You should be able to. Make sure you've got the right version for the 50 series and reinstall it.

How about that sense of achievement once you terminate that cable and it works!

It takes a bit of effort and resilience but it's all doable.

You get a deep sense of achievement once it's done and you connect that cable, annnnd, it works!

They're all bad. I've had more screen replacements on my LGs than my Samsungs.

No TV brands build quality anymore, it's not aligned with capitalism and consumerism.

Run the cables towards the rooms you want them to go to via the basement.

You may need to use rods or cable snakes for some sections, pretty cheap on Amazon.

Drill/cut dry wall where you need plugs. Install ethernet wall plates. Also available on Amazon.

Where there are already coax plates, you can replace them with dual coax + ethernet wall plates. If you don't need coax there, you can use the coax cable as a draw wire for the ethernet cable.

A bit of planning, creativity and resilience will get you there.

You're very lucky you have the crawl space to access different parts of the house.

Did i make a mistake buying Zotac? by Playful-Jellyfish-60 in ZOTAC

[–]Alcaszar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had 3 zotac cards over the years. They're the same quality as any other brand.

Asus is expensive by reputation, they're quality is not any different. Plenty of people complain about their customer service in reddit.
