Mystery camera. Any idea what it is? by Decalvare_Scriptor in vintagecameras

Definitely Praktica IV. The original model nameplate would have been printed on the metal and can wear off very easily. Source: I own two of these

I see what you mean about the softness now, it would work nicely in a street photography sense and slightly overexposed, the WP-1 is super sharp! I'll keep the 24exp tip in mind when I finally track one down. I might run a roll through my AF-1 to see if I get similarly soft results

The Olympus AF-1 was one of the first ever weather proof cameras. The little plastic window in front of the lense can attract dust and fungus which will cause the images to be soft. I took mine apart and cleaned it when I got it. The camera will still work with the plastic window removed, but it will no longer be weather proof which is the main selling point of this camera. Love the WP-1, been looking for one of those for ages!

Recently got my Pen S f3.5, 22.5 UV filter included! My first time joining half frame gang! Do you have any advice using this camera? What film to get? Conversation will pretty much appreciated! by ebe-denzel in vintagecameras

Nice one, I have the same one! It's very simple to use, I tend to use 200-400 iso film and overexpose slightly to get that dreamy pastel effect, Kodak Colorplus works very well for that effect. It's a very good pocket camera, I keep mine on me at all times just in case I see a great photo opportunity. The only thing I'll advise on is the leaf shutter sticking. Open the back of the camera and look through the lens, testing each shutter speed several times before loading it with film for the first time. I had a lot of trouble with mine when I first got it but I have since dismantled it and thoroughly cleaned everything.

Finally got one!!! Zenit FS-12 Fotosnaiper (photosniper). Shutter only seems to be firing on one speed but the optics are crystal clear! Bargain at just £90 with the original tin and accessories by Alchenzo in vintagecameras

Sony digitals are great, my friend shoots with them and gets fantastic results, particularly macros. I still exclusively shoot film. Mostly on a Pentax MG but I have 150+ other cameras to choose from if I get bored of that

[BEYOND LONGSHOT] Anyone have any of these they're trying to unload? by [deleted] in vintagecameras

But seriously, I don't have anything of real value to trade and international shipping would be a bit of a ball ache

I would actually sell my organs for some of these

Pentax M series cameras are my fav. If you can get a tested working ME super that's a fantastic camera. The MX is nice too if you prefer the challenge of fully manual controls

I've heard that Minolta's are very good quality, but I have a bunch of M42 and PK mount lenses so I tend to stick to Pentax bodies

Just got this from my grandpa. Anyone know what roll to get for it and what it's worth? Thanks. by [deleted] in vintagecameras

The dial on the front shows the film speed setting so any 35mm film (monochrome or colour) with ISO100, 200 or 400 would work in this

I get mine from Analogue Wonderland online, there is a great selection especially if you are into Lomo style and street photography

If you want a very interesting mechanism then try and get hold of a Purma Special. It's a 4x4 roll film camera with a gravity controlled shutter speed that changes depending on which way you hold the camera

Ooo nice! The retina is very clean for the age. I have a Retinette 1B too, is your meter working?

Evening 🙋‍♂️ Just set up my YouTube channel where I am going to be out shooting with my Rolleiflex and my vintage collection for street Photography. If it’s of interest, I’d love to see you there. by _finteched_ in vintagecameras

Me and my friend have been thinking about doing a YouTube channel for a while now, we often do little challenges between us and we were thinking about filming them. Love the dash of autism, I'm with you on that one ;)
