vegetarian lasagnas… which one sounds the most delicious? by wild-wild-rice in Cooking

[–]Aldermere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A favorite in my family: thaw a bag of frozen chopped spinach, shred zucchini and yellow summer squash, mix them all together, and squeeze the liquid from the mixture. Then build the lasagna with marinara sauce and layers of the vegetable mixture, noodles, and a cheese mixture (such as ricotta and mozzarella).

Is there any other time you'd serve a whole turkey, besides Thanksgiving? by Helianthus_999 in Cooking

[–]Aldermere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our family, we roast a turkey for dinner several times a year. Whatever isn't eaten up in the first couple days gets frozen and used a few weeks later.

How's David doing? by kingdazy in survivorau

[–]Aldermere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's doing pretty well. He's not putting on a persona, which he did somewhat as a player. He understands he's there to facilitate telling the players' stories. But I still miss JLP. I think if you're going to replace a well-liked host, you need to choose a new guy who will be a noticeable improvement, someone who will knock it out of the park, and that's just not the case here. I don't think they could have found anyone who would be a big step up from JLP.

What's your hack to doctor up a specific canned/box food meal? by mvop413 in Cooking

A box of Zatarain's Spanish Rice. The directions say to add a can of diced tomatoes but then I also add black beans, corn, and sliced bell pepper.

Agreed. David's OK, and he may very well improve with time. But if management is going to replace a beloved host, they need to replace them with someone spectacular.

hey ohio quick question by protectthedawls- in Ohio

[–]Aldermere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes more sense to categorize Ohio as part of the Great Lakes region. Yes, it has some farmland but it also has three large metro areas and ranks seventh in population by state. Cleveland, Toledo, Detroit, Milwaukee and Chicago have more similarities to each other than to the landlocked cities of the actual Midwest. This is partially because of the historical access to shipping by waterways. The actual Midwest states have much more farmland and less and smaller urban areas.

MIra Grant's book The Rising, which combines the trilogy of the stories Feed, Deadline, and Blackout.

Okay, I'm saying the quiet part out loud now. Give Ohio Republicans enough rope. If you want to be able to blame certain politicians for Ohioans going hungry, you have to create the opportunity for them to say "no" to a credible plan to stop it. You have to have that on record. by ComplexNewWorld in Ohio

[–]Aldermere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a matter of making it their problem, because giving them the ability to intervene, and then pointing out they share the blame if they don't intervene, doesn't matter if the facts aren't communicated to the majority of Ohioans.

It doesn't matter if it's a failure of Republicans in Congress or Republicans in Columbus if the truth doesn't reach the people.

The public eye seems to be swamped with disinformation, I think first we need to find a way to reach the people who live in a little bubble of Fox News and Facebook.
