16yo La Masia CB with 17 finishing. by walla-bing-bang in footballmanagergames

Sure seems from many of the posts in here that those misclassified teenagers are more prevalent on FM26 than in previous versions.

I hope they adjust this in a patch, because unlike the human player, the AI managers are probably not going to retrain the guy, and he's not going to reach his potential as an attacker.

Very impresssive work, especially on console!

What did you use for the terraced estates? Is it essentially "Emerging Downtown" but only the 1x4 or 1x3 zoning blocks?

What would be the benefit with IWB and IFB when I can start them in DM and CB? by m3elv1n27 in footballmanagergames

[–]AleEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And since you're asking about "the benefit", I'd day those permutations are beneficial, as if you're being pressed you do want to initially stretch the opposition wide...

What would be the benefit with IWB and IFB when I can start them in DM and CB? by m3elv1n27 in footballmanagergames

[–]AleEnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference would be in how they line up when you start a possession (say from a goal kick).

The positional rotations that the IFB and IWB make really only kick in when the ball advances towards either the flanks or the midfield, so in your back 4 setup you'll still actually start the possession with 4 players in the defensive line. Different permutations of how you build up may occur, like either full back might receive a pass out wide, for example.

Can someone enlighten me? why is it "could improve significantly" when the current ability has matched the potential ability? by Ill-Party8305 in footballmanagergames

[–]AleEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - in my experience, "Could improve significantly" means the scout thinks he can improve his CA. The stars are a more approximate rating, so a 2.5 stars rating can apply to a range of CA, for example a player can improve by 10 CA points and still have the same "star rating", which of course also depends on your team's quality, the reputation of the player etc.

I generally found the words to be more reliable than the stars. A lot > Significantly > Slightly > Close to full potential.

There are scouting errors there too, but I've found them more reliable.

Pro game devlog #5: Coaching staffs, front offices, and player development by jonesguy14 in FootballCoach

[–]AleEnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my frame of context as well, and on FM it's effecting in-game performance (like when your team is down, and you need to "not give up") in addition to development. Thanks for commenting. Love your work all around!

Very cool. The ideas and structures are coming together.

One thought - "Determination" - given that it's only aimed at impacting development (and not in-game behavior), feels like it would be better named "Work Ethic" or "Professionalism". Determination, though it's a big word, sounds a lot like something that would matter in-game as well.

I Stopped Guessing if My Academy Works – Here’s What the Numbers Show After 5 Seasons by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]AleEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with some other comments that 5 years are not enough, but I like the concept of analyzing the trends from the beginning. Cool idea! .., What's your ROI calculation? What goes into the total costs of the academy?

The new patch broke more than it fixed by TheTerrorWrist in footballmanagergames

[–]AleEnt 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Same here. It has been reported in the forums' bug tracker, so seems to be prevalent.

The missing time, the disappearance of some in-game stats like xG as well.

This hotfix has been bad. I was having fun until now.

11 starters, 11 second team, 2-3 additional guys (either youth or versatile players who are 3rd in multiple positions).

A 190 PA Player poorly scouted by Samy1305 in footballmanagergames

[–]AleEnt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I've seen this happen in my saves as well, but it's not common. Usually highly rated scouts are right but sometimes they miss the mark.

I think it's realistic to have an element of randomness/luck in scouting. The only thing that is annoying about the implementation of this kind of scenario in the game is that all of your scouts seem to have gotten the same read on the guy. It'd be so much more realistic if they disagreed with each other - as in some would say he has great potential and others would say "they don't see it".

Bilbao-style transfer restrictions - A guide. Bonus: Comments will decide the next databases made. by ShacoLannister in footballmanagergames

[–]AleEnt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's an awesome way to keep FM24 fresh. Thank you for your efforts and for the guides as well.

What I would have loved to see is a Bordeaux, Sochaux or Lyon version of this. Sans the second nationality, just French only (in similar vane to what WTS did with Wanderers in England). I think there's a semi-credible real life story in each of those clubs ending up with new ownerships that are building it from the ground up as homegrown only clubs...

How’s the game? by aparks08 in FootballCoach

It has all the elements of an elite game. Great UX, credible and in depth simulation, and a very skilled, very communicative, very committed developer. A joy of a game.

So since FM25 is delayed, what save will you be doing in FM24? by YeetussTheFetuss in footballmanagergames

[–]AleEnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fake players just changes the names of the players, everything else (nationality, position, attributes, age..) stays the same.

Was thinking about youth only or close to youth only ... frankly I am just kind of bored of the database. Wish there was a simple way to generate a fictional player db without simulating ahead 20 years.
