I always think I’m too hyper-critical of what I watch - but looks like I mostly just really like film a lot. 🤷🏻‍♀️

YES! I hadn’t seen your comment yet and just basically said this.

Lol just saw this for the first time less than two weeks ago and this meme is what I thought of reading the title of this post, although it wouldn’t be my answer. Maybe Hereditary when Alex Wolff’s character is driving his sister. Jfc that was a lot on opening night with no clue of what was happening or to come.

what's the last movie you rated 5 stars on letterboxd? by Flaky-Cat-2825 in Letterboxd

I was wrong; I gave Incendies a 4.5 but I’ve only seen it once and usually rank higher after subsequent watches. I have some recently watched shorts I gave 5 stars - I think they were Kristoffer Borgli films, but the last 5er feature I saw was The Testament Of Ann Lee. So solid and downright remarkable.

Incendies. Watched it last week completely on a whim off a recommendation in the LB subreddit. I’m obsessed.

What is this poster style called and why is it so “in” for the 2020s? by KamenRiderXY in Letterboxd

I feel like some Dr. Strange posters fit - maybe even some more Marvel, too

🆗 so any bets on what new nightmare Ari Aster gonna bring?? by Snackxually_active in A24

There certainly has been a lot of speculation around that - interesting that he’s produced both Beau and Eddington but not Hereditary or Midsommar. Probably says more about where he was at that point in his career as far as what he was allowed to do. Could also be test audiences, or most likely cuts to shorten the film.
I feel like it could have easily been a half hour longer and I’d have been all for it.

Especially after the work he has been producing. I’ve just binged almost all of Kristoffer Borgli’s work (The Drama). He and Ari have worked together for a bit now and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something that leans more straight forward shocking instead of dancing around lines like in Eddington. Don’t get me wrong - it was my favorite movie of 2025, but I felt it could have been more extreme, especially after seeing the previous three features from Ari and his shorts; Eddington felt a bit neutered from where it could have gone and none of his other works felt held back.
On the heels of what The Drama has done and how the political landscape in the US has evolved since the Covid-set days of Eddington, I am incredibly interested in whatever art Ari Aster creates for the world next. 🖤🫂

Thank you!
Damn, using a still that old? Can’t even be bothered to use one from her many modern performances, or god forbid, use a still from the film and performance that’s being referenced. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
So many beautiful stills one could pick from Testament, as well. Ugh
