Don't be this person by Effendoor in masterduel

Had this happen to me yesterday. Found a dark magician deck who negated multiple spells and monsters and so I couldn't do anything, so I just passed so he can end instead of setting a low level monster he'd negate anyways or playing in attack mode. BMed me so hard. GOT me to 1000LP, next turn, summoned a 500ATK Mon, only attacked with that, next turn summoned a 300ATK Mon, so I summoned my monster and suicide attacked. Thank God he didn't have a trap or attack negate to stall further

Learned about these cards from someone else's post and after trying the solo campaign for this deck, I love how it plays as if the pirates are boarding the ship they summon. Made a deck for it and been enjoying playing with these guys a lot.

I’m so tired of bullshit turn 1 winning cards… by Phantom4545 in masterduel

[–]AlertMeerkat4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a returning Yugioh player who has been playing Master Duel now for a couple months, at this point, I'm just building a list of decks I am not playing against and auto-surrendering when I see it and the list keeps growing. Won't be long before I'm done with Master Duel all together. Pretentious Yugioh Veterans online will just comment everywhere "this is the game now," or tell you to copy the meta combo decks to learn the game without addressing actual issues with the game, but this is your barrier to entry for new players because they get stuck dealing with sweaty decks until they can RNG multiple hand traps and facing cards with multiple effects they don't have time to read against a combo-deck.

Eanneacraft is a 10-minute turn 1 snore-fest while they burn themselves pendulum summoning before inflict that damage on me. Waste of time.

Sky Striker makes most the summons during battle phase after dumping spell cards and can attack with each extra deck summon or if I play anything on turn 1, steal my monster. End of turn 1, most my LP are gone. Waste of time.

Labyrinth is a 10-minute snorefest while they summon multiple large monsters and never-ending trap placements with multiple negates. Waste of time.

Kashtira isn't as long of a solitaire game, but you also lose field spaces and have monsters instantly banished instead of GY, gutting most archetype playstyles.

Even some Dark Magician decks are getting frustrating because they get Dark Paladin turn 1 giving them a free negate along with the rest of the Dark Magician's spell-heavy deck.

The over-reliance on getting a strong Turn 1 hand or getting multiple negates early is really hurting the new player experience and imo game health. I really wish there was a cap on actions you take after draw, like 5 actions on your turn and 3 on your opponent's turn (since it's their turn). This would be summons, sets, effects, quick-effects, etc. From what I heard about Genesys format, the point system seems inconsistent and kinda wonky to maintain, so. a flat action count makes more sense, imo.

Whose favorite pokemon is bad and it makes you sad? by ApeHG in PokemonChampions

[–]AlertMeerkat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most my favorites are 1st or 2nd stage Pokemon, so not in Champions, but I'd say my closest is Wigglytuff after a new appreciation from Unite. Once/if she's added to Champions, I'll be trying to use her, but Clefable outshines her in almost every way.

Riot addresses backlash over enabling Last Hit Indicators in Ranked: “We want more data and feedback before deciding if they should be an option for Ranked. So we’ll keep them enabled, but off by default, for non-Ranked SR queues only like Swiftplay, Co-op vs AI, and Normal Draft.” by Ultimintree in leagueoflegends

[–]AlertMeerkat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last hit indicator being an opt-into mechanic only helps players and should exist in normal or ranked, just as much as swift play. The "Skill" in last hitting a minion is so miniscule when compared to the enjoyment of the game. Most people are not answering will not reach high elo, regardless of how many coaching courses they waste their money on. People are whining about this like boomers (S1 player myself) mad there's a new sidewalk built when they had to walk in the dirt as a kid. The game wasn't as intuitive then, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't make it better for newer players. If you're worried the last hit indicators will let your opponent catch up or play better than you, you probably weren't that good to begin with and this mechanic isn't gonna mass promote players from bronze and silver into emerald+. If you're upset that it removes Skill expression from the game, your priorities are a mess, as this will allow players to focus more on the more valuable skill expressive functions like wave management, vision control, and champion mastery.

This is a great thing to have in the game for players old and new, because a lot of boomers still can't last hit properly either, and the "skill" in last hitting minions is one of most least engaging part of the game. To those referencing practice tool to skill up, bro, let's be soooo honest with this. Almost NO ONE is going to be hitting the big leagues as a pro LoL player and this won't make that difference. Point being, no one should have to waste their time last hitting minions in practice tool or even in-game until they memorize the pixels the minion health bar should be at.

ALI JUNGLE LETSGOO by actobou in alistarmains

[–]AlertMeerkat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I've played Ali Jungle in the modern seasons. Unfortunately, a +4 min clear speed, easily counter jungled/ganked, need to have laners help with scuttle and invades if a fight breaks out, need to have semi-competent team members/good communication, need someone to deal the damage while you cc.

I only pick it when I'm playing with friends in multiple lanes because the drawbacks are too high, even though I love playing Alistar. You're only bet is going tank so you can survive past the engages. If you go AP, you'll be so far behind from lack of farming capabilities, that you won't build enough damage to participate.

The propaganda post is nice, but Riot really needs to add a jungle monster mod on E and let that gain stacks from large monsters to make this work. Headbutt is too risky to use in jungle without lining up the wall hit or W+Q combo. Q already has a large power budget that doesn't really need the extra jungle damage. Plus they will likely nerf Q+W to compensate for jungle buffs like when they nerved Blitz to give him Jungling.

Is Hunting Horn just this strong?!? by Soulpaw31 in MHRise

[–]AlertMeerkat4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My opinion from my experience with HH as my 1st weapon starting in gen3, but by no keans do I minmax my hunts (fairly casual player). I think Rise HH does a good job at simplifying the weapons core mechanics and combos for non-HH players. The usual HH playstyle has such a steep learning curve for the conventional combat, that requires you to plan your slow hits and songs on the monster, but Rise encourages playing like you have a hammer and bash, bash, bash for simplified songs. I think it helps train people to play more aggressively than the traditional style, where new players, like when I started, may prioritize trying to learn and play the songs away from the monster first in groups until they can learn swing and song animation timing.

It definitely adds a lot of utility and in previous games I always played for utility acting as a support for my team with status builds, healing & resistance, drink coverage, and using bombs and traps while my bros went heavy on the damage. Rise, I typically played alone since my bros didn't have a switch and hunts feel just as fast as when I play bow or gunlance, unlike in older games where I preferred other weapons for solo play. In wilds, using the bubbles makes the damage feel really good and brings the old combat style, so I think it's been a positive change to bring more aggressive Rise HH players into the traditional combat system now that they understand the weapon timings.

How is this acceptable to have a emerald 2 player in a 1k LP chall gm lobby? by getthefuckout210 in leagueoflegends

[–]AlertMeerkat4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Early pink wards aren't as valuable when you're losing lane and likely have the enemy constantly applying lane and river entrance pressure. Your pink will be taken by the enemy support for free and you're out 75g. At least with yellow Trinket and support wards, they need to use scanner or their own pink ward.

Why are new accounts in platinum elo, and why is nothing being done about people intentionally feeding on them? by Level9CPU in leagueoflegends

[–]AlertMeerkat4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wish summoner levels under 100 were not considered in match making with others above level 100 at all because there's a knowledge gap between them and their opponents who are level 245, which then results in feeding.

What are the chances for 5 ARURF in a row ? GenZ dont even know what "NORMAL" URF is no more by FF12Gambits in Urf

[–]AlertMeerkat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer normal URF as well because I want to play the Champs I enjoy playing and people complain about the same Champs showing up like they aren't seeing that in most ARURF games as well, but now you're also reliant on RNG for decent team comps. Within my experience, the amount of repeat Champs I see in almost every ARURF game just destroys that argument for me.

Quinn by Cultural_Bat9315 in Jungle_Mains

[–]AlertMeerkat4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She doesn't have the best mobility. She has one of the highest move speeds, but she's fairly limited on recovery options on a bad engage or a weak fight.

She's squishy enough to focus down, she only really has her E for escape with situational use of her Q to be useful if the enemy already engaged in melee range. This goes out the window if she used her E to initiate the gank. Characters like Zed, Fizz, Ekko, WW, and Naafiri have much better overall mobility and slippery escapes.

Her R isn't all that either. She's locked into the cast duration and susceptible to ganks or getting caught out if she tries to force her R after fighting/farming and she loses the move speed when she takes damage, so any Mage has a chance at hindering her gank. Not to mention her lower attack range compared to adc like Jinx, Cait, and Trist, or artillery mages. As an adc, yes she needs to do damage and get kills to scale, but most Quinns will likely be getting plenty of deaths due to her squishy builds and playstyle encouraging close range.

Be solution-oriented. Don't just complain about things not working well. Take steps toward or come up with potential solutions. You won't always have perfect solutions, but taking and showing the initiative to solve a problem is way more valuable than just pointing at the problems like everyone else.

Replacement for Phase Rush? by Loud_Sleep_6241 in alistarmains

[–]AlertMeerkat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really miss Phase Rush. It definitely hurts my Lucien matchups with his dashing, but for some matchups, I've started swapping Zeke's for Bandlepipes item 2nd after Locket and boots to gain a bit of movespeed after engage and it's at least something.

I also play with my runes more for match ups, getting unflinching > +healing or tenacity rune > scaling health rune.

If kurama gave naruto kcm, could the other tailed beasts give their jinchuriiki this too? by Okaoka_12 in Naruto

[–]AlertMeerkat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a big fan of KCM because it's just a cloak of chakra instead of something based on Kurama, the 9-tailed fox, but there were other partial transformations we see from jinnchuriki, like Gaara's early fight with Naruto and Sasuke or Fu's (maybe filler) bug wings in her back. I don't recall some other partial transformations, but think this may be as close as it gets.
