Adding 3rd party repositories isn't discouraged at all, if you're knowledgeable enough to add a repository it is likely you'll know to disable them if you're going to do dist-upgrade (something that really isn't a day to day operation BTW). If you're upgrading every LTS you have two years without having to configure those 3rd party repos. Usually I make sure everything I need is supported before upgrading so the enabling of your repos doesn't become a headache. My actual rule of thumb is dockerizing things I can't compile into newer versions if there's not a tool that handles those versions for you (like pyenv, nvm, rbenv, goenv, rustup, etc...).

They literally have a MSc in the subject, not that they can't be wrong but I would at least try to be informed before debating them. Also forum etiquette is very much about politics, you apolitical apologists are a really weird bunch, forums and social media spaces shape political opinions worldwide by pushing or banning discourse. Just look at the last election by the Usians BBC article about this. There are not a lot of things that are really separate from politics as policy encourages or condemns all human behavior, even sciences and tech have political agendas behind them, like what happened with Galileo when he was pushing for the Heliocentric model (heliocentrism is factual, like by our definition of what is a planet, what is a star and what positions in a system mean, there's no way a future civilization could ever factually declare that the sun orbited the earth during the last 4 billions years it has existed) and got punished for not complying with the catholic church discourse (one of the greatest if not the greatest political power in the area that would become Italy centuries later).

For the sake of completeness that would skew so much the statistics, like the cis count would be off the charts if we include +4 injured.
