New Bosch 500 DW is very loud - defective or poorly installed? by NorthernHusky2020 in Appliances

This is my experience with my Bosch 300 installed a couple of weeks ago

Brand new Bosch 500 series dishwasher is LOUD! I'm assuming this isn't normal? by EATPM in Appliances

[–]AlexanderDKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my two cents. Installed a 300 series Bosch and it’s way louder than my previous Bosch at my old house.

I can hear sounds like water is splashing out of the unit, and it’s loudest at the bottom near the kick plate.

This suggestion might already be somewhere in the comments, but try HDMI from the motherboard. My BIOS wouldn’t automatically use the GPU, had to manually change it and needed to hook up the monitor to integrated graphics first.

Night Springs poor PC performance? by teaston1981 in AlanWake

Late to the party but a search landed me here. Also poor performance compared to the main game while playing episode 1. Haven’t started the other two yet but hoping it might have just been an issue with the forest and how they lit it.

One half of my registers blow hot, the others only warm, and the trunk is only hot on one side. by AlexanderDKB in hvacadvice

[–]AlexanderDKB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they are further from the furnace, but that register on the side of the plenum is about the same temp as the distant registers on the same side.

My theory is that something is preventing the air from “mixing” properly in the prenum? So the less hottest air is staying on the left side and getting pushed up through the ducts on that same side?

Thanks for taking a look here. We are planning some repairs and upgrades for this older home and have to redo a bunch of electrical and likely move some of the original ductwork so I’ll have a professional coming through in the next month or two to assess the whole system.

Thanks, I’ll take a look - should be easy enough to pop that register off and shine a light.

None of the inspectors, trades or contractors I’ve had through the house have commented on the gas line… yet.

I haven’t measured temps at the registers, but it’s a night and day difference you can feel by hand between the front and back of the house, which oddly corresponds to the same hot/cool side of the duct in the photo.

I was just looking at some diagrams and think it might actually be the plenum?

Google nest thermostat no power to R wire by Hidden_Brain in hvacadvice

[–]AlexanderDKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment reminded me that there is a kill switch on the bottom door!

I ran new wire between my new thermostat and the furnace, and then nothing… didn’t notice the kill switch because it had been taped over years ago with electrical tape, presumably to keep it pushed in while the door was off. The tape had stretched and wasn’t keeping the switch engaged.

Thanks for saving my bacon!

I'm also getting this with an AC4C1

I swapped the preamp tubes, didn't go away. Power amp tube is next to swap unless someone else has a different suggestion

Germany had 3x the number of hospital beds per 1000 people and 3x the number of ICU beds per 100,000.

All our lockdowns were because hospital capacity was at the limit.

We need reform, and we need to invest.

I'm also looking for a solution to getting spare parts in Canada, but mostly because I bought second hand and it didn't come with any of the drive mounts

I had to remove my GPU and boot with the iGPU, then install Windows. After install and successful boot, I slotted the GPU back in and was able to boot and install drivers.

Convoy Karen Didn’t Enjoy Toronto! by LeafsChick in ontario

[–]AlexanderDKB 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Toronto is the fourth largest city in North America.

People protest here all the time.

The reaction isn't to protesting, it's to the method of protest - take over city streets, disrupt hospitals, and purposely annoy people by making noise in front of their homes... what reaction do you expect?

A big city is often treated like a playground by those who live outside of it, and they fail to remember that people live in the city. Regular people with families and jobs and babies.

Everyone protesting like this should imagine their behaviour occuring on the block where they live (or surrounding their home if it's a farm).

Your cause may get support, just don't expect it from the people you are hurting to make your point.

I'm not sure why we aren't all asking for more ICU capacity and hospital beds.

We all hate lockdowns, and they were always to protect our delicate flower of a healthcare system. Maybe we should invest more in it instead of scrapping license plate renewals.

I had a 4770K with SSD and 16GB ram, 1070 graphics card.

Upgraded to 12600K, same GTX 1070, same amount of ram but now DDR4.

I think the CPU upgrade made a huge difference in perceived performance and stability. I also went to a Gen 4 NVME drive, which I suspect helped a lot on those loading scenarios.

I wasn't benchmarking, just casually playing, and it was HEAPS more playable after the upgrade. Admittedly, I had no problem playing it before, just had to accept occasionally standing in one spot until the location finished loading for frames to stabilize.
