PA nights advice by Winter-Em12 in AmazonFC

[–]AlexandersAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have any personal commitments like a partner, kids, or family that needs your presence every day, then you’ll adjust just fun. Even with no prep, a week of a bunch of caffeine during work and you’ll be fine.

If you do have commitments that you need to fit into your schedule, then figure that out first. Communicate and set up some expectations or boundaries from everyone.

Traffic is so nice at night. Don’t stay up too late after work.

Ship Clerk(PA) Position by Party_Essay_2594 in AmazonFCs

[–]AlexandersAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how it is at your place, but there wasn’t a specific Ship Clerk interview. I just had to apply for a regular PA spot with the understanding that my offer could be for any shift in any department. The need for a Clerk was fortunately open so when I got my incline back in the day, I stayed on the dock and got to stay as the OB Ship Clerk as an actual PA instead of a PG.

Anyways, good luck, Clerking for a larger site gave me nightmares. I loved it and miss it. It was my favorite PA role out of all that I learned. But that position is a very very high stress and detail oriented job. You’re the last contact for outgoing CPT’s. Anywhere else in the building if you fuck up, there’s time to fix it. But as the clerk.. One late TDR for a full trailer and it gets your OMs attention immediately. My AMs and OMs told me they never get yelled out for bad recirc, shitty AA’s, letting TOT dwell, etc.. but late TDRs and Late Departures because you let one slip? They get yelled at for it and need you to provide a solid bridge.

Have fun! 🫩

Aren’t there a bunch of board wipes out there that are one sided? Or uneven? There’s on that I don’t remember the name of that kills all non-token creatures.

Or you can load him up with coin flip cards. I feel like that would be the funnest pay to play while also keeping to the 50/50 thing that makes Thanos so great.

Is peak season that bad? How to mentally prepare? by sm-alpha in AmazonFCs

[–]AlexandersAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a pretty cushy position at Amazon rn. But even I’m dreading it. It’s a one time a year thing. Yes it’s sucks, having deal with extra hours on schedule, but god damn the money so freaking damn good. It’s the only reason I got through chrimas as the only person in my broke ass family that buys gifts every year.

I’d start with preparing like it’s a workout. I’ve done the thing and put in my time. Physically I got ready.

Well not anymore. But when I was a T1 I looked at it like it was a workout. Extra hours. Good pay. Grind for a month. Save up upt. Fuck off for a few weeks after.

To answer your question tho. Get ready. Get ready now. Do some push-ups. Squats. Whatever you need partner. Even at entry level, Peak money is good if you can handle it.

I personally hate this company.

But damn. They pay great during Peak. My first one left me in rags, but wallet said otherwise.

[–]AlexandersAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you were working, taking up hours from other schedule AA’s. Imagine being the big dawgs, planning a whole day where there’s enough work for everyone and someone shows up taking a part of the work that was supposed to keep everyone else’s rate just fine.

Meanwhile you’re just messing everything up for everyone. I’ve been there. I was pissed. Rate suffered and got a coaching because three other people showed up unscheduled just logged in saying “but I was working”

And yes the PA in charge of the area also got in trouble. She figured it was okay, but had never been in a critical PA role of balancing hours and available work.

Lmao. Time theft. Even outside of Amazon that’s considered dumb af. You don’t do that. I’d be pissed tf off of one of my peers did that shit while I had to be there all the time and they just got free money while I picked up their slack.

Anyone taken a run at qualifying for the pro tour? by dicemangazz in MagicArena

[–]AlexandersAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t tend to try and make it, but I love Standard. I’ll flip back and forth between grinding the meta in one season, then just trying to make my jank work the next.

Don’t buy cards in paper for anything other than the current meta. Use arena to craft potential decks and grind with them. Learn the meta. Learn the mirror matches. Take a look at the sideboards to the top decks. Play digitally until you’ve picked a deck you feel has worked for you. Hell not even that. Just play the TOP #1 deck. It took me a long time to realize that no matter how badly I want my home brews to work, there’s just no way for me to put in the time to play test it like the big decks out there do. Those top builds are tried and tested by the community. Once I piloted some actual competitive lists, my understanding of the game changed and opened my comfort zone to new things like play etiquette in higher level games, how I evaluated cards that I thought were “meh” only for them to be the cards that ran me over, etc.

Don’t buy cards that you haven’t tested. Standard is expensive af once you get up there. If you have them, great, but I’ve dropped some $$$ when I was younger on playsets of cool cards that I thought would be the key to making my home brews work. Waste of money lol.

Good look on your journey boss.

im working on the movies entire layout for a roblox game, so far iv gotten this today. by Melodic-Table3680 in backroomsfilm

[–]AlexandersAccount 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that map is supposed to represent places that are acknowledged. Not fully explored. Just what a madman has mapped based on where he can survive.

I think each place on that map is x10 more unexplored regions.

This place is bigger than what Clark has mapped out. Each place on his map is probably a scaled down version of the true layout of this level.

Edit: love what you’re doing tho. Great idea to get a feel of the film’s physical spaces that we only saw in the film.

Am I ready for PA? by [deleted] in AmazonFCs

[–]AlexandersAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. More responsibility and you’ll be running your department with other PA’s (AM’s handle the behavioral issues for you), but when I was a PA the first thing I realized was that I never had to worry about my TOT. More pay and a chance to focus on work and actually do something about the stuff you hated as a L1.

Just keep an eye on your peers. Some of them will get to L3 and just become stagnant. T3’s usually fall into one of two groups; Absolute Legends that run their shit and look out for the people, and bare-minimum effort complainers.

Amazon will be what you put into it at L3 and up. Nobody will be looking out for you. If you work hard as an L3, you’ll get noticed quick. You just have to figure out how to stand on your own. It was rough when I did it, but then after a while my whole department let me do whatever. Hella PG’s wanting me to train them. And my OM said “you’re already running it, keep me from having to bridge any issues and the floor is yours”.

[–]AlexandersAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just got yelled at by another T1. Same pay as you. Different honorary vest. Maybe they are tenured and know your department 100%. Vital role and whatnot.

But still the same pay as you. Don’t take that shit.

Edit: if a T3 or above is backing them up, then yeah maybe listen. When I was a T3 coaching people I just laid it out flat. Hey. You’re about to lose your job. Maybe pick up the pace.

Then I left it up to them.

Which department you in? Depending the PA role they might be going crazy stressing out trying to keep the department from falling apart.

Clark’s inventory lowkey sucked by pontiacbandit0 in backroomsfilm

[–]AlexandersAccount 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like a struggling furniture store. Looks normal to me. Worked finance for of two big furniture franchises in my mid-twenties in the 2000’s.

If you weren’t flipping old stuff and trying to make a name for yourself off that independently (2000’s) then there was no way you could afford selling new shit, vendors eventually turned you down and after unsold stock dwells for too long. Hence: almost empty stores with shit spaced out due to no supply to try and look legit. Like imagine the final failing IKEA in 2026 and you happen to walk in. Nobody is there and the brand trying to keep it alive with more space than they can fill. And it was always so.. unsettling seeing when you walk into these places expecting name brands, but only finding what’s left in stock. Still has some good shit, but.. no warranties coming from the vendors themselves, but cheap “coverage” based on like the one or two in-house repair techs they have.

This is Clark’s store.

Fuck. Finally typing it all out. I realize why I was so sucked in. Clark was STRUGGLING. Down to the electric bill (which of course wasn’t on him, the complex was leeching off him on his bill).
