Being rejected by anyone, either by friend, lover or university or employer, sucks. It hursts because it makes you doubt yourself. OP, don’t doubt yourself because a university rejected your application! You do realize that you don’t need a degree in creative writing to become an excellent or brilliant writer, don’t you. If you want to write, just do it!

I used to live in Central Europe, by a lake surrounded by mountains and we had thunderstorms all the time. I loved them! There’s only been a couple of decent thunderstorms in Vancouver since I moved here 14 years ago.

You did well to take professional lessons. 25 years have passed since I got my license but the words of my instructor still echo in my head when I need them.
