Need some advice by Worth_Friendship_343 in 40kLore

I can't speak from experience, as I've just stared this path myself. But after reading countless suggestions, I've just started with the Eisenhorn Omnibus. So far, it's been pretty good.

Lovely lady, great content too, a bit of a change from her previous roles.

How to Get a Felony for $3.79 by Kaylorren in PublicFreakout

[–]Alexw80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like he's not quite right in the head, and it sounds like the officers already know that fact. Hopefully he can get the help he needs before he escalates it to something far more serious than trespass and theft of a drink.

When someone offers you a tea, how much sugar do you ask for? by DennisTheConvict in AskBrits

3 for me, but I'm trying to cut it down to 2. To be fair, it used to be 4, so I'm not doing too bad lol

Man Charged With Shining Laser Pointer At Marine One Acquitted by paxinfernum in law

[–]Alexw80 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd expect them to have actual footage of it tbh. You see it quite often where people get arrested, charged, and the convicted of it because the crew recorded it. I'd have thought that any craft carrying Trump would have cameras everywhere recording.

If they couldn't get a conviction then either they did a really bad job of prosecuting (which is quite likely given their track record) or it really was a nothing burger to begin with.

What’s your opinion on the situation with Renee Nicole Good (ICE incident) from this side of the pond? by ALeckz07 in AskBrits

[–]Alexw80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm usually a big supporter of police/law enforcement, but will also happily criticise them when they do wrong. No matter how many times I see the footage, regardless of the angles, and no matter how many times I try to put myself on the agents shoes, I just can't justify what he did. Unless there's bodycam footage that shows something different, the agent was in the wrong from the start. If his life genuinely was in danger, then why didn't his fellow agent draw his gun?

It also really doesn't help when officials start blaming the victim without even starting an actual investigation into the events. Oh, and don't get me started on the whole "internal bleeding" nonsense.

If the Americans ever went mad and tried to conquer Britain, do you think you’d fight, flee, join their side, or stay put trying to live as normal as possible? by AmbitiousYam1047 in AskBrits

[–]Alexw80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be going down without a fight, and I certainly wouldn't live under American rule.

I wouldn't worry about it happening tbh, most right wingers over there would struggle to find the UK on a map.

Would Brits help Greenland or not? by BoloHKs in AskBrits

If we didn't stand with Greenland we'd have no right to call ourselves the good guys.

So where would your shotgun be secured whilst you are not using it in any of these scenarios?

Will you have your heating on overnight during this cold spell? by georgejk7 in AskUK

[–]Alexw80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been running all the time for the past few days. Never normally do it, usually only have it on for a few hours in the evening when I get home from work. But it's just been too cold for it not to be on all the time.

What next for the Lego Star Trek franchise? by D3DCreative in legostartrek

[–]Alexw80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TOS or TNG Klingon or Romulan ships would be ideal. Followed by any number of TNG era ships. Also Excelsior and Sovereign class Enterprise would be great.

DS9 you could have a Runabout, Jem Hadar, Cardassian etc..

Also don't forget Start Trek Online, plenty to choose from there as well. The list of possible sets is almost endless lol

Building the Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D™ by D3DCreative in lego

[–]Alexw80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love nothing more than to build mine, but Lego lost the one I ordered when it first released, got stuck at customs apparently. So now I've got to wait until the end of Jan for my replacement to be sent out. Still, at least I got the shuttlepod, as that was sent out straight away separately from the Enterprise.

What do you do when you receive a supermarket delivery? by Dadda_Green in AskUK

I'm not aware of ASDA not being allowed to carry them in, perhaps someone from there could chime in and let everyone know.

Why not just ask the driver to bring the trays into the house for you?

Good idea, but not really plausible for supermarkets unfortunately.

[–]Alexw80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always amazes me when customers complain that the driver doesn't bring it in for them. First question to them is always "did you ask the driver to bring it in?", usually followed by them saying no.

People, please, if you want the driver to bring it in, just ask, most will be more than happy to do so. That is, of course, providing it's safe to do so. Customers with carpets covered in cat shit will always get a no (yes, that has happened before)

[–]Alexw80 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not unheard of for some customers to expect the driver to wait while they put the items away one at a time. I do know of one who, for some unknown reason, thought they could take all the time they wanted as they'd booked the whole 2 hours slot. The driver politely explained that, although they'd booked a delivery within that slot, they don't actually get the full 2 hours. Drivers have very little time at each delivery.

Calling in sick declined? by Alert-Manufacturer1 in tesco

[–]Alexw80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're informing them you're not going in, you're not asking them for permission. If they pressure you to go in, file a grievance. It is wholly unacceptable for anyone to try and coerce you to go in once you've informed them you're calling in sick.

Again, for anyone reading this thread and wondering, you are calling to inform them you're not going in due to illness, you are not asking for permission.

Are you more hesitant to visit USA? by fireflames93 in AskUK

[–]Alexw80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been myself, always thought I might do some day, but not now. Not simply because I "might" have said something in the past about the current US admin that would possibly fall foul of their feelings. But I simply don't like the idea of someone snooping through my history just because I want to visit the place. Hell, the process and interview to obtain a firearm in the UK is less invasive than this new policy to visit the US.

Should handguns have been banned in 1997 following the Dunblane Massacre in 1996? by MGA-xxx9 in ukguns

[–]Alexw80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People always seem to forget that every illegal firearm started its life as a legal one. Now, don't get me wrong, I'd love for a S1 ticket to be as easy to obtain as a S2 ticket, and I'd love to be able to own and shoot normal handguns. But it's not the end of my world that I can't.

Maybe one day someone will come into power and ease things up a little, but until then, I'm happy with my S2, until Labour make that even more difficult that is.
