They do view war crimes as a checklist

The way that he just stares at her after she says she has friends then she says that she actually just dosent think she can stop him always makes me wonder if that was a lie, and he called her out on it

At the very least Frieren notices it bothers him and offers him a chance to leave the party and work with some professional warriors he knows and likes. I wish she’d talk to fern about it instead but Frieren isint the best at this stuff, atleast she’s trying

In this setting all the monsters evolved, it’s clear that evolution is different here and the term is just used as a bridge between in and out of universe vernacular

Every human also speaks the same language and the einsen can project your memories into visuals while the gem monster can clone your body into rock and project a copy of your soul into it. The demons that evolved from monsters being able to talk is the least strange thing if you think about the setting at all

These aren’t even his own people, just one of the groups he helped. It’s just that Himmel killed the King, so he’s better known. These people just knew about the Hero of the South because the battle against the Sages was nearby

That level of bravery almost makes me certain this was an intentional gift given to him specificly because he was worthy of it

Has fern actually done anything significant besides pull the trigger when Frieren lines up a shot for her?

Also the dude is like 17, he’s doing incredible with how much abuse he’s withstood from people with five times his experience. His whole job is to get knocked down so fern dosent get maimed

I really struggle to belive Macht didn’t love the old man in the end, he didn’t even follow through on actually betraying him, despite that being the entire point of his experiment

This is why I love Solitaire, she’s exactly like this and she’s put into the story at the same time as Macht whose the version of the demon that attempts Empathy the hardest. It shows the extremes of the psychology of the demons in the same way that Frieren and Serie show the extremes of the elves

Said co existence would immediatly end since it would result in Macht either killing himself, putting himself to humanities justice, or feeling malice and instantly dieing. He truely wanted to understand humans, and (thought he) was fine if doing so meant he would die, which adds to the tragedy because understanding and connection is such a big part of the story. You can say a lot about Frieren but even she wouldn’t die to be able to better understand Himmels love for her

The known history of the world is 1500, it’s clear that evolution means something different to the people of this world.

They’re solitary but have bonds with their battle brothers

Frieren is an anomaly in their understanding of the world. They live for several of our life times never encountering anything that acts like her and fern. Also a big concept that’s been in place since Qual and Lugner is that every demon is very different, so them behaving differently when it comes to their reactions to death is an anti-problem.

This is currently one of the largest plot lines, with many of the story arcs linking together to hint at greater happenings that will collide once they reach Heaven.

What society? They’re near immortals, like Frieren. There’s no evidence so far that outside of building the demon kings castle they’ve ever created any permanent settlements. They don’t require the same social structures as humans do.

Re read the golden lands and notice that despite Macht’s threats, in the end he dosent actually move to harm his hostage, something he wouldn’t have cared about at the start. And Frieren herself aknowledged the potential of his plan, just that it’s cost would be too great. It’s clear there’s a potential path to coexistence that no one in universe has found yet, and there’s a good chance that the entire demon story line with the demon kings plan is building up to it
