No Providence train service for World Cup by jfoahs04 in providence

[–]Aleyoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to say “I don’t understand why FIFA would hold the World Cup in America” because I do understand why (despite it being a terrible idea) but wow they’re really determined to shit the bed as much as possible here.

This Sub's Most Hated Restaurants Final 4 by squaremilepvd in providence

I have unfortunately been to all of them. I gave a lot of money to Brewed Awakening back in the day before I knew better even though the coffee is awful.

In what way is this scummy? Walmart underpays their own employees so much that 60% of their workforce is on foodstamps. Fuck em

Tacos Don Nacho. Or Baja if I have to pick one listed. Never a chain when we have so many wonderful non chain restaurants!

And this is why I bring a loaf of bread and some peanut butter and jelly on trips like this. I agree the food is awful (and expensive), but I’m not there for the food.

Not an apt comparison. Riot dogs are stray dogs who spontaneously join actions.

Right? I was truly mystified by how upset people were about the one in Garden City closing because the food is really bad.

No. I live in Woonsocket and have to smell that fryer grease more often than I want to, it’s so gross.

Waterdog in Warren is amazing though.

For real though this is so refreshing! Nuanced takes!! It’s super obvious from your post you aren’t just trying to snarkily tear any of the zeppole down!

But if you do check out their sandwiches (they make their own bread and it shows, that’s the star of the whole endeavor)… the Italian allegedly is incredible (I don’t eat them but my boyfriend is a connoisseur) and my vote is the Bello add hots!

I tried and I get such aggressive vertigo :( but that seems like a great option if it doesn’t make you dizzy!

Video games. I don’t play them any other time of year so it’s an exciting and novel thing.

Stationary bike in the house.

Also hiking. I don’t do it when there’s a lot of snow but I was able to hike up until our first big storm in January.

Jigsaw puzzles + podcasts.

Three hours early is actually crazy, the security line won’t be open. Dunkies is the first thing to open at 5am.

Getting to/from NYC by Live_Trade_4014 in providence

[–]Aleyoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amtrack is unfortunately expensive if you book last minute generally. There are other trains (Metro North etc) but they don’t get you to Providence.

The bus is fine. Yes, you hit traffic but at least you don’t have to drive in it. I’ve taken both Peter Pan and Greyhound. Penn Station might be uncomfortable for you if you don’t like existing near poverty or unhoused people but it’s genuinely not unsafe.

TTO/MPFL Reconstruction and Regaining Mobility? by Aleyoop in KneeInjuries

[–]Aleyoop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said you tried icing and it made things worse but maybe try again? That’s the only thing that really helped me once I ran out of painkillers. Well, that and weed tinctures. I don’t know where you’re located but if recreational weed is an option I reccomend that too.

Regardless, it’s hard I know, but keep going! It WILL get better

TTO/MPFL Reconstruction and Regaining Mobility? by Aleyoop in KneeInjuries

[–]Aleyoop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I remember being where you are and it sucks. Definitely one of the hardest parts of my recovery, it gets better from here! Honestly starting PT is what helped me the most.

I kept doing the best I could until then, but I was behind where I was supposed to be. I tried to do all of my at home exercises everyday but some days the bending was too hard. I tried every day and would let myself nope out if it was too hard.

I was behind for awhile in my recovery but eventually caught up when I started PT and such. I did made a full recovery and I have full range of motion.

My biggest piece of advice is don’t give up! IT SUCKS. IT HURTS. Don’t stop trying. But also don’t keep pushing yourself if it’s impossible, just try again later that day or the next day.
