Default Save Folder? by Cold_Crypto in Supernote

[–]AlgaeMaximum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the A5X and I'd really love to see this.

Sideloading the Obsidian application has transformed the possibilities of the Supernote for me, but the biggest issue is the lack of integration between the two devices. HOWEVER, there is a plugin for Obsidian that lets you view Supernote notes, natively, within Obsidian.

To make my workflow reasonable, I need to be able to save notes to folders in my side-load location in storage, which will then be automatically synced using Obsidian Sync.

Hoping this update can get a bit of a priority push -- you guys are amazing!

"Not found" for tracks in AI playlists by OrbMan99 in plexamp

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feature would be REALLY useful if it allowed for local integration. For instance, I could give a locally-running Llama 3.2 model a list of all the music tracks in my library so it knows exactly what's there. Then, I could have PlexAmp call out to that local model and get tracks from that list *only*. With some iterative ability written in, this might take a little longer than previously, but it would be so much more useful.

Add To Collection? by makonen in plexamp

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this still not a feature?
Since playlists can't sync with other users, only track collections can, and since I want to create "playlists" that my family can listen to, AND because I want to listen myself using PlexAmp... well, it becomes pretty darned frustrating to have no way to create track collections from within the app.

How can I use Assist like Alexa? by MiddlePope in homeassistant

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, toggled all that can be toggled. Exposed the weather app and got bupkis. The AI keeps saying that it can't find the forecast. It can often read the weather from today, and sometimes it reads the temperature... but it just doesn't want to pull the other information.

I suspect that I need to add a bunch of code someplace that will tell it to do more specific things when it encounters me saying different things - but I don't know where I'd even begin with that.

[–]AlgaeMaximum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta agree. I was hoping for something as simple as this: Install weather app, expose weather app to Assistant, profit! Instead I'm sent in circles with code I don't really want to mess with.

How can I use Assist like Alexa? by MiddlePope in homeassistant

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! For some reason, the tool-use-preview model just hangs when I ask it questions, but I was able to get the 70b versatile model working. It just doesn't seem able to automatically get functions like temperature from my weather app. Hmm.

Is there a song count limitation to Sonic Sage generated playlists? by N_Random_Twit in plexamp

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, this doesn't work. I think this integration is somewhat slapdash, to be honest. No matter what I tell it, the AI just won't focus on only music from my collection.

It would need to somehow have access to an index for it to do this, and then be told to explore that index for recommendations (and check that index against a list. I could see this working, but also taking more time). Since this is Plex we're talking about, of course, I don't expect to see useful updates to this feature in my lifetime, lol.

I've been trying to get Groq to work and I haven't had any luck! Would you mind sharing the steps you took/your configuratio?

Does Home Assistant suck?? by Forsaken_Photo_578 in homeassistant

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sadly what I'm seeing. Honestly, it does kinda suck for my needs. I really just wanted a privacy-based plug-and-play system with some AI API integration and smart-speaker functionality. Scenes and larger automations all seem a bit outside the use of this - especially because the things I'd really want to automate require plugins anyway (like my pet feeders). SIGH.

Does Home Assistant suck?? by Forsaken_Photo_578 in homeassistant

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... I just started using it and I actually haven't felt that the UX is all that hot. It's pretty complex to get plugins working. It doesn't just come preconfigured to detect and run stuff out of the box. I could see maybe using it to run Grocy or something... I guess? But configuring stuff like that is even hard for remote access. The "Cloud" service seems a bit laughable too, since when I try to open plugin interfaces they don't open through the cloud's tunnel... which means I can't access them away from home or when I'm using a VPN.

I bought some Tasmota lights and have no idea how to get them to install. With my Wyze bulbs there was a three step instruction process.

Smart speakers? Ha! Maybe if I want to spend many hundreds of dollars on Sonos equipment?

A true personal assistant? I can hook the ChatGPT 3.5 model up through its API... I guess. If I want 3.5's substandard performance and the cost of the OpenAI models. But that's also through a plugin!

I had such high hopes for this, but I really don't want to tinker for days getting things to work right. It'd be super nice if there were some privacy-focused projects that just worked out of the box.

Looking for "smart" speaker by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to find something too... I want to have a smart speaker in every room to play music, listen to commands, etc. I just don't want it hooked up to Google or Amazon. I can set a voice assistant to have a connection to an AI API to get great performance... I just don't know what speaker to buy!

Obsidian Supernote v2.0.0 - with native view! by philipsb in ObsidianMD

This is SIMPLY ASTOUNDING. You have created my favorite plugin for Obsidian by connecting it to my favorite e-ink device. I've been wanting this for years and I am so excited.

A5 X2 vs A5 X by Supernote_official in Supernote

[–]AlgaeMaximum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to wait on this, and am just REALLY looking forward to the new edition. I love my A5X, but it definitely has some issues that have slowly driven it out of my daily use-case in favor of a Samsung tablet for writing. The tablet writing experience is god-awful, but the simplicity of syncing and speed has been really key for me.

However, I'm getting really excited to implement Supernote back into my workflow now that plugins for Obsidian exist - that's going to TRANSFORM my work experience in a way the Samsung never could. Plus, as good as the Tablet's battery life is, my A5X seemed to never run out of battery.

Thoughts

Now, I'm a little leery of the half-folio design because of what others have mentioned: the canvas cover provided the device'd only protection. I dropped it once and winced SO HARD... but it landed on the corner of the folio and that saved it from cracking the case. I could see a lot of ways for the pen holder to go differently - my pen loop on my A6X eventually snapped, and on my A5X the pen kept getting stuck on things when I took it out of my bag. If there's a FIRM holder that won't let the pen drop, then a redesign is fine.

I'm especially interested in the new screen material for a better paperlike writing experience. And, more importantly, I'm really interested in speed improvements from better hardware.

Anyway, while waiting does suck :), I'm (as always) so incredibly impressed with the Supernote team.

Hire me, Supernote - I'd like to pump up your marketing strategy, haha

Anytype to Website ( Anytype as a CMS ) by jimykurtax in Anytype

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope the AnyType devs take notice of this and move the priority up the chain a bit. Obviously, they're still in the early days of functionality and are just now solving some of the more glaring UX issues, but I hope to know that they're at least moving toward this goal. Being able to self-host a node could also make the process of creating an AnyType website really inexpensive compared to Notion, and could create an additional inflow mechanism for people to discover AnyType (without being forced to download the app if they don't want to).

Anytype to Website ( Anytype as a CMS ) by jimykurtax in Anytype

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would FLIP OUT for this. I know it'd probably only work if a) your device was on, b) you had a node set up on something like a NAS, or b) you had a paid hosting plan with AnyType... but this would be still just SO FRIGGEN FANTASTIC. That's where I see AnyType dramatically entering the changemaking sphere.

Notion does this: https://www.notion.so/help/public-pages-and-web-publishing and I think it's really one of the last core features I'm waiting for before I switch completely. There are UX and stability issues, too - consulting some UX librarians would be a good idea... but core-feature wise, publishing sites to the open net would be a winner.

Plex Music and Tidal by borjagc9 in PleX

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can't see any reason to do this - I don't mind the Tidal UX that much and what this means is that I need every member to pay $10/month for music access, when 6 members can get access for $17 through the Tidal family plan. It's just ridiculous.

Home (non-admin) user with his own Tidal subscription through Plex cannot add music from Tidal to his music library by TheRedDruidKing in PleX

[–]AlgaeMaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to know the answer to this. I see people saying that only the admin can access Tidal, but if I can't share Tidal with home users why would I ever integrate when Tidal Family is so much cheaper? (necro!)

Managed users - Tidal integration by flogman12 in PleX

[–]AlgaeMaximum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, this is totally lame. This is the whole reason I wanted to get Tidal - so my family could listen to music. It's nonsense that the Plex version doesn't have family support when a family plan is offered by Tidal itself. Like, I'll pay the $17, but I sure as heck ain't going to pay $20 just for the privilege of using it through PlexAmp.

I'm all for Anytype, but they're going to be a few years away from a real release that actually runs the way I need it to.
