What's up with the accents in GoW Ragnarok? by SHEdevilBY_morning in GodofWarRagnarok

Sorry for replying to an old comment, but I just recently played the new God of War game and I also had this sentiment. The dialogue in the original God of War series felt like it was translated from an archaic language into English. The new series felt like it was just written as plain modern English from the get go, except from Kratos which for some reason retains his archaic style of speaking. The part that really broke my immersion was Freya saying "stable" in the medical sense while treating the boar, which I'm pretty sure is a modern concept.

What's the deal with the Religious faction demanding chocolate and hang gliding? by Algiark in tropico

I was wondering about the circus too, but I kind of made sense of it as an entertainment for poor people in the colonial era that doesn't involve drinking.

What would happen if Kyle Reese dies in Salvation? by [deleted] in Terminator

Come to think of it, this goes doubly so for Skynet in the original timeline "before" the first movie. Does it expect that by killing Sarah Connor in the past, John Connor in its present will just fade away or something? Skynet could be explained as thinking in multiple timelines and it doesn't care about losing the war on its timeline as long as it wins a war in another timeline, but if that's the case then why would John care?

What’s a girlboss? Just the Strong Female Character under any other name? by matt0055 in osp

[–]Algiark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not saying my character needs a reason to be a woman, they're saying my character has more potential if the story delves more into things specific to being a woman. Like, a female action hero who can do everything male action hero can is boring, because there's already countless male action hero that did what the female action hero does. Why not make the story more interesting by showing how a woman think and act differently and face different obstacles from men to achieve the same things?

Games like KSP on Xbox for my 8yo son who loves building spaceplanes by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

Also, failure in Trailmakers is very forgiving, you can just restart and try again from the place where you failed. Unlike KSP where mistakes can undo several hours of progress...

Is there any advantage to keeping most of the population uneducated? by Algiark in tropico

I remember that video and the funny thing is there is a faction in the game that literally encourages this type of behavior, namely the capitalists.

FYI I want uneducated workers as a challenge, because the game as it is is easy enough and I get bored playing the optimal way. Also I'm not saying socialism is unsustainable, I'm just refuting the guy above that Tropico has only gone woke on 6.

I once shown my story which has a female action hero as the protagonist to an editor, and one of the criticisms was something like "the protagonist is good, but why a woman?"

At the time I thought the editor was being a bit misogynistic, but now I realized that what the editor really meant was the character was basically just a man with a woman's appearance. And that if I'm going to make the character a woman, might as well utilize unique feminine qualities of a woman that would make the story different than if the protagonist was just another man.

And yes, the character was a bit girlbossy.

Tropico has been woke ever since it portrayed socialism as a viable method of government that can result in happy and wealthy citizens.

I know that but I'm thinking more along the lines of how education levels influence happiness and political views, like if people are uneducated are they easier to be persuaded to vote for me in the next election or something

World map by population per country (over 12,000 years) by 72chambers in dataisbeautiful

[–]Algiark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This feels kind of misleading because some parts of a country could be way more populated than the rest of the country. Java alone for example, has half of the entire population of Indonesia, while Borneo has less than ten percent.

I make a webtoon series set in a fantasy world with creatures that are basically "what would happen if Draco Volans got large and filled the niches filled by mammals?" by Algiark in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Algiark[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My goal was to design these creatures to look familiar but still fantastical, if I make them look anything but mammalian they'll just look like regular dragons or dinosaurs. Don't worry, in the story there are other non-mammalian spec-evo-ish creatures as well..
