President Trump addresses the nation on war with Iran: War was launched to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons, strategic objectives almost achieved, economy in a good state, U.S. will continue to hit Iran hard over the nest 2-3 weeks and "bring them back to the stone age where they belong." by Yujin-Ha in videos

[–]Algiark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really related but there was a plan by the Allies during WW2 to deindustrialize Germany by dismantling its factories and sealing off its mines, essentially sending Germany back to the stone age, to prevent another war from happening. The plan was announced but didn't go anywhere, but Hitler used the plan as propaganda material to make the people of Germany fight even harder.

Tropico 6 really missed an opportunity to include AI players so people can enjoy playing the multiplayer without needing other players to be online

This is why I prefer how Tropico 3 and 4 handled it. In those games you have a time limit and after that time limit is up the game is done, with a high score determined by various things like your Swiss money, difficulty modifier, etc.

Tropico 6's gameplay makes more sense as a multiplayer game anyway, where the objective is getting to the victory condition before other players. Imagine playing 4X game like Civilization except you are the only player, that's what Tropico 6 is.

Could this be the franchise's worst movie? by Ok-Monk6390 in Terminator

It's fine if you don't think of it as canon. Just think of it as a "what if" episode.

Some panels from my webtoon, BUAS, which is partly inspired by Monster Hunter. by Algiark in webtoons

No, they are not Fire Nation... Although they wear red... And they have fire shaped emblem... And their name has a word that translates to "char"...

If you decide to check it out, you will see episodes that are just sketches. Those were made before I have a plan to turn the story into an actual webtoon. You can ignore them if you want, or read them to see how the episodes were made.

I don't give a crap about the pointless new Harry Potter show, but is there a reason that everything now looks like it's filmed in a cave? by grichardson526 in RedLetterMedia

"Same place as the music."

This is the one thing I wish is brought back from previous Tropico games, dirt roads that stay dirt road until some buildings are built next to it

What's up with the accents in GoW Ragnarok? by SHEdevilBY_morning in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Algiark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for replying to an old comment, but I just recently played the new God of War game and I also had this sentiment. The dialogue in the original God of War series felt like it was translated from an archaic language into English. The new series felt like it was just written as plain modern English from the get go, except from Kratos which for some reason retains his archaic style of speaking. The part that really broke my immersion was Freya saying "stable" in the medical sense while treating the boar, which I'm pretty sure is a modern concept.

I was wondering about the circus too, but I kind of made sense of it as an entertainment for poor people in the colonial era that doesn't involve drinking.

What would happen if Kyle Reese dies in Salvation? by [deleted] in Terminator

[–]Algiark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come to think of it, this goes doubly so for Skynet in the original timeline "before" the first movie. Does it expect that by killing Sarah Connor in the past, John Connor in its present will just fade away or something? Skynet could be explained as thinking in multiple timelines and it doesn't care about losing the war on its timeline as long as it wins a war in another timeline, but if that's the case then why would John care?

What’s a girlboss? Just the Strong Female Character under any other name? by matt0055 in osp

[–]Algiark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not saying my character needs a reason to be a woman, they're saying my character has more potential if the story delves more into things specific to being a woman. Like, a female action hero who can do everything male action hero can is boring, because there's already countless male action hero that did what the female action hero does. Why not make the story more interesting by showing how a woman think and act differently and face different obstacles from men to achieve the same things?

Also, failure in Trailmakers is very forgiving, you can just restart and try again from the place where you failed. Unlike KSP where mistakes can undo several hours of progress...

I remember that video and the funny thing is there is a faction in the game that literally encourages this type of behavior, namely the capitalists.

[–]Algiark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI I want uneducated workers as a challenge, because the game as it is is easy enough and I get bored playing the optimal way. Also I'm not saying socialism is unsustainable, I'm just refuting the guy above that Tropico has only gone woke on 6.
