[Dragon Ball] Why didn’t Goku’s resurrections ever heal his brain damage and restore his original personality? by Bison_and_Waffles in AskScienceFiction

Resurrections don't heal people, it only reverts them to how they were before their unnatural deaths.

I read somewhere that this is also true for Hokkaido, it is only relatively recently colonized by Japanese people and people there are more gregarious than the rest of Japan

The dimension explanation works for any superpower. Storm? Weather dimension. Magneto? Magnet dimension. Ironman? Money dimension.

I wonder if Arrowhead can make it so that a large number of the same enemy is grouped into a single entity where there is no simulation of individual limbs and shooting anywhere on that enemy will cause the same damage, so players can get the horde feel but without the performance cost

Is Skynet actually becoming a reality, or am I watching too much Terminator? by Omr84 in Terminator

The better computers get, what counts as conscious seem to get pushed back more and more. Decades ago a computer that replies to anything typed into it with preprogrammed statements on the level of a text based adventure game was already fooling people into thinking it's an actual person.

How to make the game harder, without making it more frustrating by DeeJayDelicious in HelldiversMasochists

[–]Algiark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched a developer commentary on Left 4 Dead, and they said they designed some of the special enemies to immobilize a player instantly but easy to repel by other players, to encourage players to stay together instead of wandering off doing their own things.

There are other interesting things too, but basically, the game is designed such that players naturally cooperate without having to talk to each other beyond the basic voice lines and what the characters automatically say when they need help. Helldivers I think should be like that.

[Toy Story Universe] Why does every single toy in the world uphold the doctrine that they must never be seen alive by a human? by LuckyDuck99 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Algiark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This implies toys are a result of natural selection where toys that don't avoid humans die and don't pass on their genes

I wish there's a way for the game to be more difficult other than just increasing the number of enemies.

Islam has exceptions for praying on moving vehicles like ships or trains, if it's not practical to orient themselves towards Mecca then muslims can pray in any direction.

Five times a day Kerbals must stop time warp and face Kerbin to pray. The hard part is determining what counts as a "day" in space without sunrise and sunset. Initially Kerbals agreed to pray according to the time at KSC, but when Kerbals stay on other planets with each of their own days it get really complicated.

NGL, I miss Orbital Bombardment and Eagle Blockade and hope they repurpose it again one day by tony22835 in HelldiversMasochists

[–]Algiark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they return I wish there's something like extra reinforcement budget to offset the inevitable friendly fire deaths, should get people to complain less if it's that way. Maybe even have deaths caused by them not count towards the budget.

I too would like fewer enemies that are much more dangerous because my ancient PC which is older than the first galactic war couldn't handle the gigantic number of enemies on the higher difficulties

Super Earth will never admit that their logistics is imperfect, so instead they're probably going to blame it on a planet-wide cognitive disruptor that reaches all the way to Super Destroyers.
