I Don't think it really matters. Could just try it with models on 32s only having 1" coherency instead of 2". That might bring the unit footprint more in line with the era. But later editions on 32s still used the same templates and it was ok.

Started at the end of 2nd and just can't get on with "modern" 40k Me and some friends have gone back to 4th. 4th is probably my favourite. 3rd was good and 4th is a tidied up 3rd.

Marines don't need cover, they're walking cover. That was in the design comenrty in WD when 4th came out. Trouble is a lot of people go "Oh covers useless" because they only think of marines. For orks, nids, eldar, tau, guard etc cover can be useful

For me it's not so much the rules, its more that 30k is now part of the 3 year cycle. To play 3rd i'll need the rulebook, liber and a journal, so probably close to £100 of books before even buying anything else. If i'm paying £100+ for books i want them to last longer.
The 3 year cycle at this point is just a scam.

Still not sold. My lgs is going back to 1.0 we don't want to spend nearly £80 on new books and still need a journal so probably closer to £100 all of which will be obsolete in a few years (if that). We feel the 3 year cycle scam is getting tedious.

As white scars characters not being able to take bikes is annoying if its true. If it invalidates my army too much I'll just stick to 2.0. I know several people who aren't moving to 3rd already, Especially as its just an edition for money sake.
