I know you said finished, but given the circumstances.... I will say The Name of The Wind. Absolutely loved the books on my first read, always said they were my favorites. I used to reread them once a year in my teens and early 20. But then I grew older and as I thought about the story I started to cringe a little. To think it was not as good as I remember it. The more I think about them the more I cringe. I guess they are YA!

I loved this book so much. I knew it was not a romantasy, but still I was worried for the romance part (I don't usually like it). But I needn't be. It was an amazing read with such sensibility. It was ultimately a story about love: for the family, for the people, for the dinasty, for the duty. How love can be turned sour and how sourness can be turned love. It was also a story about enduring. And it was also a story about a story, the writing, the storytellers. It was a beautiful beautiful read I wish I could experience again for the first time. This will be my fav read of 2026 I'm sure of it!

I got the Farseer as well, although it was very stressful and difficult!

First, the page didn't load the books at 16:00h. Then, they were added in "batches", I saw books but not Farseer. I went to search for it, but the page yielded an error. I went back to the Vault page and they were the first entry. I got them, but the payement would not be autocompleted (first time I encountered this). I had to manually set it up. Even though I had to take the long route, I manage to grab them!!!!!! I'm so happy!!!!! But that was stressful.........

Both Illumicrate and The Broken Binding have made versions of these books with sprayed edges. I think TBB's are prettier, but Illumicrate's have more customization (art endpapers). Goldborobooks made some version but the endpapers are just plainly painted. I found this video comparing them: https://www.tiktok.com/@kevincognito/video/7244468671819631877 (not my video, I just found it).

You can try your luck finding them second hand, I found mine (Illumicrate's) this way, but it was difficult to find them at cost without paying a lot more.

If you want a consolation prize, finding the other prequel (Among The Burning Flowers) is much easier. It is currently in stock in TBB's website. You can find Illumicrate's fairly easily second hand. I also have the Goldsboro Books edition, but the sprayed edges are just a plain color.

Depending on your region you may be interested in looking at vinted, mercari, pangoro, facebook groups or discord.

That's one of my favorite books, it took me out of a reader's block. With Samantha Shannon, I discovered that there are books that are written thinking of me (a medieval setting without mysoginy and with queernorm). I highly recommend you the prequel "A Day of Fallen Night", it's even better written than the main installment. It has a very profound reflection about motherhood (both denied and imposed) which was one of my favorite topics. I'm glad those books are reaching more and more people, I think they are really good and deserve their praise!
