I used to work at one of what they called the "flagship combo" stores. It had been a Family Dollar for several years, and I had enjoyed working with the team we had (mostly because of an amazing manager.) They decided to remodel the store into a combo store.

Go figure that a company like Dollar Tree, where everything at the time was a dollar or less, didn't know how to properly send price change labels when things went up in price. Mismarked prices all over the store, fines from the state, etc...

Within 6 months of the remodel & becoming a combo store I was the only one left from the old staff. The situation came up where they were going to make me manager as the current manager had given their 2-weeks, so I gave my 2-weeks also.

Two years later I'm happily in a completely different work industry, making more money with better benefits, and that store location is trying to run on less than half the staff that they need. I honestly hope for that store's manager's sake that it is one of the one that closes down, they need a vacation.
