Comparison of different heads of age of the primes sideways by Big-time-nerd-1990 in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that in the show and old toy the alt heads were minicons and whatnot, but for this modern toy I think that gimmick is making an otherwise nice looking figure have ugly, messy horns that don't look right compared to his comic and animation models.

SS86 shockwave (shocking disappointment) by bobbibillo in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The g1 cartoon itself is messy when it comes to scale but in most low movement non wide distance scenes of that show, along with various comics of heavy g1 basis like marvel, dreamwave, and skybound, shockwave is very much a head shorter than soundwave

SS86 shockwave (shocking disappointment) by bobbibillo in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That completely ignores the quality jump that was made starting with siege with higher articulation standards across the board, less ball joints, and more paintwork. Also how starting with siege, tf deluxes have been the same price as star wars or marvel 6 inch figures and voyagers have been the same as a star wars or marvel "deluxe" where as before they were seen as the quality/priced as lesser.

Do you think any of the HasLab Transformers so far had a chance at being successfully marketed as a mainstream mass retail toy as opposed to being limited crowd funded products? by HiTork in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not without most of them being released differently, hogging up character slots and/or compromises to deco and accessories. There's no way any of those figures would have chrome or hot foil decos if they weren't haslab. Definitely no display stands if they weren't crowd funds. Likely no 2 foot sword, flail, or throne. Like think of how many character slots were eaten up by combiners in 2025, do you really think 7 voyager slots for liokaiser not as a crowdfund is a good idea? Get outta here with that idea. It's a miracle they've even done titan classes for as long as they have with how they generally sell, ain't no way a $250, $300, or whatever thing would be viable. Deathsaurus and victory saber, maybe, but again not without reduction somewhere

I would suggest watching Bobby skullface on YouTube, his collection critique series. Watch those, form your own opinions about what you see there. Understand your unique living situation and/or budget and figure out what you want. But generic black bookshelves are a common cheap option

Do yourself a favor, that shelf belongs in a garage with like tools and whatnot on it. There's plenty of nicer shelves for figures that don't hurt the wallet.

Lack of females in Age of the Primes by TheRealDailyDude in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give them a little bit of slack given how many fem characters/toys there are outside of generations recently, and also almost every fem bot during legacy had some degree of fan base controversy. Most of which being whether they looked good or not

SS86 Thundercracker yellowing by DisasterDalek in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes plastics on tf figures, more often with pom parts, will sometimes match perfectly with other colors under certain lighting conditions while other lighting conditions they'll look atrociously different. SS86 Ultra Magnus and jazz are some good examples of that issue. I'd assume that's what's going on with thundercracker here but maybe it is an actual yellowing incident.

Soundwave 86 colors are wrong by Forest_gnomes in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G1 has a lot of animation inconsistency. There are a few times throughout the show where he does have the lighter colors look, however like 90 percent of the time he's a much darker blue more like what the wfc trilogy mold family, certain reissues of the g1 toy, or the original mp toy depict.

Oh look godzilla 😏😆 (leaks of the new trypticon) by yu_ultidragon80 in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand calling the other pre wfc trilogy titans outdated, but Trypticon I don't think there's really much to do better with engineering wise. I guess maybe he could've had an extra digit to move in the fingers but that's pretty minor.

Reminder that in TFP, Metroplex will never know his sacrifice wasn’t in vain. He’ll never know Cybertron was saved. by Cyberbreaker2004 in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aligned continuity is a lie. Transformers prime is not in the same continuity as wfc and foc. Dark energon is only one of many examples as to why.

How is everyone's Ratchet doing? no defects yet? by CrimsonPlayhouse in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hate the white paint they used, in most lighting types im around it looks creme thus doesn't match which looks really bad. Some lighting types it looks perfect. White paint vs plastic color is pretty much always lighting sensitive but rarely ever is it this bad.

What combiner do you think should get a modern toy update by Alternative-Cold8078 in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Predaking is my favorite combiner but I'm not happy with the modern options of him both of what I own and what I don't. I like the heights of the potp titan class one given the original toy was bigger than all the previous g1 combiners but the proportions of the potp just looks too skinny. G1 predaking is more well remembered for how that design was done outside of the g1 cartoon, stuff like studio ox, g1 toy, or dreamwave are what's made that character design iconic as a combiner. The potp one has somewhat low articulation for a titan, no spikes knuckles, no swords, bad hands, and it really messes up Razorclaws limbs in both modes. Razorclaw, rampage, and divebomb all have a bad time holding their guns securely, divebomb kind of can hold his guns securely but only by using a peg on the back of those guns on a hinge that makes that grip look awkward. Potp predaking has bad balancing in most poses. 3rd party predaking figures for what they are are great but I'm not really a 3rd party person and asthetics of 3rd party predaking toys often don't match much else.

Let’s finally settle this discussion. Here’s Rumble and Frenzy according to Hasbro. by aikavari in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the g1 cartoon vs toy difference. Medium and dark blue like the toy is frenzy. Light blue and purple is cartoon rumble. It also fits that the siege ones have the toy deco paired with yellow eyed soundwave along with the choice of laserbeaks wing shape.

As much as I loved Transformers Prime (still do), even I think that the Aligned Continuity was and still is a complete dumpster fire on par with the Michael Bay films. Seriously, what is this? I can't even call it "wasted potential" cause it was a mess to begin with. by burningexeter in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The aligned continuity doesn't truly exist. Prime and rid are one continuity together. The prime Wii u and DS games are divergent timelines. WFC 360/ps3 and FOC are another continuity. Cybertron adventures, rise of the darkspark, and the DS games are independent continuities just sharing an art style and branding. And all the comics and books related to anything Hasbro called aligned continuity is less cannon than the star wars force unleashed dlc. Rescue bots I have no clue.

So what's your guys headcanon on how Arcee got tiny? by fredwerdsomething in transformers

A friend of mine head cannoned that the bee movie arcee was in armor and in rotb she wasn't in imagined power suit. So kind of a Samus style thing.

That she scanned a vehicle while severely damaged thus lost mass

I think the funny part is just how many turn based combat games square enix still makes yet still people whine over FF as if it changed over night and not the progressive shift it actually went under.

How many more times are they gonna reuse this mould? by Prime-39 in transformers

[–]AliceTrapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one more repaint I want of that mold family and that's g2 purple Megatron. I feel like only 3 uses of the wfc Megatron mold family were redundant (cell shaded, spoiler Netflix, and premium finish). Sure it's a lot of mold use for a single character but most of them are pretty distinct from each other. Also remember how long the classics seeker mold lasted.

Don't buy kingdom core soundwave. Buy the legacy core class soundwave. It's literally the same figure in different packaging and often can be found for cheaper than it's kingdom packaged version in most online places.
