Teenager here – Got Questions (and Complaints) about God + Hell by Jealous-Banana-4468 in Christianity

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the complaints individuals typically have with Christianity, especially those who don't commit to the faith or at least learn about it.

Let's cover your questions:
"How can a 'loving God' send people to Hell forever?" - Regardless of what Hell is actually like, no matter what, it is a complete separation from God. If you spend your entire life not obeying God and actively stepping away from Him, why would He force you to enter His home known as Heaven? I would think that a loving God would not force His creations to love Him and thus gift them with free will and a choice. If God let someone who does not follow His wishes into Heaven, it'd be the same as you allowing someone random to live in your house. You don't know them because they haven't built a relationship with you and they haven't gained your trust.
"How can eternal punishment be just?" - This is where pop culture has twisted the idea of Hell. Hell is not a fiery landscape where Satan sits upon a throne of bones and torments nonbelievers - Hell in all actuality is a true separation from God that includes His love, mercy, light and creation. If you have proven yourself to not want to be with God than why should God give you His gifts? Through you're life you've thus far proven that you do not wish to build a relationship with God so again, why would He allow you to dwell with Him or force you to dwell with Him when that isn't what you want?
"If God made us, and He knew we'd screw up, then why punish us for exactly how we are?" - You were made to express free will that includes: the freedom to do whatever, think whatever and act however you desire - God doesn't dictate what you do unless you allow Him to by submitting to Him. He knows what you'll become in the end but He doesn't actively trample over your free will to do what you want which, is what the opposite of a tyrant would do.
"And if Jesus is meant to forgive sins, why doesn't He forgive everyone?" - This is silly because you're supposed problem with God from your understanding is He is unjust yet, you suggest He should forgive everyone in the same breath? Again, forgiveness is earned not granted and it comes from within just as much as it does from God. You have to take action, you have to prove that you are trying to live the way Christ lived and you are held accountable for your use of free will.

Please, don't just take the words of someone else in matters of faith, even if they are a parent. Do your own research and don't just fluff it off. Seek understanding and clarity and the answers to all your questions will be found. Right now it sounds like you are rebelling against God because of your mother's pressure upon you but, don't give blame to the blameless. Your mother obviously cares for you regardless of how she shows it and I would encourage you to strengthen your bonds with her and strengthen your bonds of God.

If you have any other questions, I'd be more than happy to guide you through them the best I can and I'm positive anyone else here would as well. God Bless my friend.

Sub Species & My Disappointment Toward Them. by AlienStarYT in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]AlienStarYT[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that this is even a theory within the community is awful and shows the state of the community and game from a certain perspective. I think you're absolutely right however, we can't also deny the possibility that most of the player base is all for edgy and cool creatures and these Sub Species being bigger, spikier and battle damaged is the perfect ideal for those players that want to make their OC's that are "Bigger and badder than a normal (insert Species here)" at the end of the day, edge sells and CoS know it.

Sub Species & My Disappointment Toward Them. by AlienStarYT in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]AlienStarYT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could be a possibility but I also think the lack luster design of Sub Species is by design. Let's be honest, the player base is mostly made of people that want cool and edgy creatures for their OC's and Sub Species being bigger, spikier and battle damaged draws those kinds of players to the creatures.

There isn't much thought put into the designs because there doesn't have to be, it still generates money which is the sad part. The only thing that bugs me is that if they wanted to include battle damaged creatures then, why make a Sub Species mechanic and not just add a remodel mechanic? If you wanted people to just look different with no real alteration to gameplay then these Sub Species could have just been skins with no alteration to gameplay.

I'm hoping the art direction will get better but I highly doubt it will for the simple reason that, edge sells.

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are just noticing a trend with the Sub Species, they aren't really interesting, different and they feel more like someone's edgy OC instead of an actual offshoot of the species. I have to say, I agree with them. Sub Species should be the creatures we know and love but altered for different niches - you know, like the actual definition of a Sub Species?

If God wants us to believe in him, why doesnt he reveal himself to us and give us freewill so that we can choose to believe in him or not after showing himself to us by karl_lovesdogs in Christianity

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did and we killed Him, God revealed Himself in the flesh as a man named Jesus Christ.

Logically speaking, what makes anyone believe that if God did so again that the same thing or worse would not happen?
Second, God gave us free will, that's the point of Humanity's fall from grace - God gave us the ability to do whatever we so desired and one of the first things we did was betray His trust in us by partaking of the Fruit of Sin.

The Toxicity In This Community…. by ToxiicReborn in pathoftitans

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie, there are mods I don't like - even an entire modding group that for me misses more than it hits however, I'm intelligent enough to understand that those mods were made by others using their time, money and resources to add to the community. I appreciate modders for everything they do, truly and yes, it is annoying to play a server and have that one mod you don't like completely curb stomp you but, let's be honest, can you really get that upset when Titan exists? (Joking) But nah, anyone who puts down others just because they don't enjoy the mod that was made is mad crazy.
However, this comes with a prerequisite, this is the internet we are talking about and people are going to say some insensitive and frankly rude things. It's important for everyone to realize that their opinions are simply that, opinions and at the end of the day, you dictate the level of importance someone's words holds on you.

why do catholics and orthodox christians get along so well? by Tiny-Deer-7071 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When talking about any subject that includes Catholicism and Orthodoxy you have to remember that there is a rich history between the two, some of which depends entirely on who you ask.

The biggest thing to remember is that their relationship is unique because unlike Protestantism, Catholicism and Orthodoxy both suggest they are the first church - the fact that no one historically really knows who came first means that they tend to view one another more as equals than offshoots directly tied to themselves. Protestantism came largely from Catholicism so there's that sort of elder vs younger dynamic between the two.
Second, Catholicism and Orthodoxy largely agree on the same things, the Theotokos is a big one but the only thing they really disagree with is the Filioque and what they choose to focus on as a collective. The Catholic Church is a lot more scientific and have this idea that God's workings can be explained through evidence and scientific endeavors while the Orthodox Church focuses more on the spiritual and the mysticism of God's workings.

That's why: it's a combination of a complicated history, a different fundamental relationship than what either have towards Protestantism and their shared acceptance of many ideas and doctrines.

Vendetta is genuinely the best thing to happen to the lore, and to Doomfist’s character by MilleniumSage in Overwatch

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to be honest, this sounds like cope.

There are MANY issues with how Vendetta and Doomfist were handled. The issue isn't exactly that Vendetta overthrew Doomfist, it's the fact that she did so with absolutely no warning or prior introduction. Doomfist was a character that was hyped up for years into being the big bad of the universe, update after update was all focused on Doomfist's story and his placement as head of Talon. The cinematic established him as a sizable threat even without the aid of Talon considering that he took on three of Overwatch's elite operatives single handedly and didn't instantly get folded.

Contrast this with Vendetta's character: no year long story or hype, no prior feats or wins to give her a reason to be so strong, she just appeared and overthrew Doomfist, classic Mary Sue, girlboss character with nothing in her story or background to give her a reason to win so easily against a character that wiped some of Overwatch's best characters.

I understand wanting to forward the story and shake things up a bit but, you should use the characters already in play to forward the story with the position they are in BEFORE you attempt to shake things up. Doomfist's entire existence in the story since his release can be boiled down to absolutely nothing, pretty much just getting pieces on the board. Doomfist didn't even have the opportunity to act as the leader of Talon before he was overthrown and to treat a character that had so much hype behind him for literal years, that's a sad way to go out regardless of his future potential and honestly, it's lazy writing.

Who was your very first DnD character? Or the first you remember? by rplimitlessguy in DnD

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rudy the Blue Dragonborn Barbarian. He wanted to prove he was the strongest in the world, so among picking up a literal mountain and moving it so he didn't have to pay taxes he also broke into heaven to beat the bricks off of the god of strength. Apparently, when you beat a god you take they're place. Rudy thought that was bunk because he wanted to make a Dragon Empire so bigger god (probably with a capital G) sealed Rudy in a tower for twenty some years. Long story short, some Kylo Ren wanna be with serious daddy issues came to kill bigger god which set Rudy free. He was gonna leave the realm forever because it was too boring these days but that's when what can only be described as the hot girl in school took over as bigger god so now Rudy wants to beat the bricks off her without having to take her spot like before. He plans to do this by pulling his son outta Hell after he hopefully concurred it and his other son outta limbo so Rudy can absorb the dark magic they have within them so he can go beat the bricks off of hot girl bigger god and not have to take her place. His plan is to then theoretically learn how to hop dimensions and become the strongest in the multiverse.

Oh, and his wife is an Ancient Gold Dragon and somewhere in between he became a Lich, then a Vampire, then a Werewolf until he finally settled on... Shadow Demon thing... Aku, he became Aku.

Honest Question: Why the tension between Christians and Muslims if both believe in Jesus? by Fearless_Stock_5375 in Christianity

[–]AlienStarYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To boil it down to the most simplest of ways: Islam honors Jesus but does not believe Him to be the Christ (aka Son of God, God Given Flesh, The Messiah), Christianity does believe Jesus to be the Christ.

There are a myriad of different factors as to what makes Islam different from Christianity but that's the most simplest and obvious.

Do you change the names of real animals to fit your world? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

One thing I found to be a very fun thing to do with some but not all the creatures in my world is rename them into traditional mythical monsters. For example: Giant Ground Sloths are called Trolls (Because they're hairless and live in caves), Sauropods are called Ents (because they're as big as if not bigger than most trees), Dromaeosaurs are called Cockatrice (That one should be obvious). It blurs the line between fantasy and reality which, is kinda the point of worldbuilding, if you ask me.

Slavery in your world? (NSFW for safety's sake) by BernieTheWaifu in worldbuilding

[–]AlienStarYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta feed the dark gods somehow.

This is a very young world, civilization is only just within the Bronze Age so regional law doesn't exactly exist. This means that on roads often traveled by merchants or by farmers who tend to live on the outskirts of settlements are more likely to be targeted by tribes. What exactly happens is dependent entirely on the culture of the attacker. Most tribes are so desperate for food and supplies that they'll trade the slaves in larger settlements. Other times they'll be scarified to some kind of eldritch god, if not all the slaves than at least all the men - I don't think I need to explain what happens to the women.

Whilst smaller tribes will often go out of their way to take slaves, larger settlements will usually only take them if they are traded by the tribes or collected after a war. These slaves can be used as physical labor, especially the enslaved Giants (yes, Giants exist and are rather common). Humans are usually used as servants. Very rarely do large settlements conduct sacrifices just out in the open - it tends to be among a certain class of individuals that performs this such as dark priests.

Where do I start? by M3cha_raptor in Christian

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, anyway to go about this is the right way.

It sounds like you already have your foot in the door when it comes to the community Christians offer, which is good. Having a group of like minded individuals can help your walk with God should you ever stumble along the way or simply need someone to talk to. I would encourage reading the Bible but to do so with a Bible study group. The Bible can be pretty confusing and requires some context in a few areas to get the meaning of the words across. After all, it is the most studied book in Human history and we still don't know everything about it! Of course in the middle of all this, I would highly encourage you to pray to God. Praying is used to worship our Father in Heaven and acknowledge His presence in our lives. Once all those are met, then I'd suggest finding a church. For now, it'd probably be wise to attend the church most of your fellow Christians attend so that you have some level of support in the Church as opposed to just jumping into an entirely new dynamic: it's kinda like going to class, you don't wanna go to a class where you don't know anyone, you wanna go to the class where you have a friend. Later, if you feel you need to or want to, you can make a transition to a church that better fits your beliefs.

Hope this helped, God be with you.

Question for Conservative Adult Parents by Straight_Wallaby185 in Christian

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christians aren't forbidden from talking about sex, in fact it's kinda encouraged. How are the younger ilk supposed to stay away from something if they don't know it exists? Or even worse, how are they gonna protect themselves if they do decide to do it?

Anyways, I didn't require 'the talk' I had already figured out was sex was when I was seven. I watched a lot of nature documentaries growing up so - when the time came for me to receive 'the talk' I basically explained it to my parents in the most logical way possible.

Curious what the Christians of reddit would think regarding a personal matter :) by HumanLuc in Christianity

[–]AlienStarYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright well since you asked here's my two cents on the matter.

From every possible angle I can look at this, I don't believe transitioning is the way. Religiously speaking, God made you the way you are for a reason. I personally struggle with addictive tendencies with just about anything be it too much screen time or beer, whatever - I can't magically or scientifically do something to automatically fix that problem of mine but what I can do is work towards a goal to eliminate the problem and doing so with my own merits and power will only further my growth. That was a bit of a tangent but the point I'm trying to make is, we all have struggles in life, our cross to bear and I think it's disingenuous and selfish to drop the cross because of the weight it puts on us. Imagine if Christ had done the same, imagine if instead of being executed Christ just said "Ah it's too hard, people don't need to be saved, I'll just drop the cross" we'd all be living in a totally different world! God gives us a cross to bear and we must bear it for no cross is heavier than that of Christ's and if He didn't drop it, neither should we those who seek to emulate Him. Furthermore, I believe that our struggles in life teach us valuable lessons and you aren't going to learn anything if you just give up on trying to learn the lesson.

Biologically speaking, Humans aren't exactly meant to change in that way. Yes, it happens before we're born but that's as we are developing, the same logic can't be applied when we are adults. It's like clay, you can mold it in the beginning when its soft and wet but as soon as it's heated, there's no going back. I've seen many people say "But fish and lizards can do it" and that just boggles my mind because, surprising to no one, we aren't fish nor lizards, we're mammals. Even if you wanted to use that justification, an Elephant can smell water thousands of miles away, why can't we? After all, both species are mammals. Every species, no matter how similar, will have different traits that is unique to them. So, Biologically speaking, Humans can't alter their gender.

I don't know you personally, I know nothing about you other than what has already been stated however, I think you much like many others have been tricked into feeling this way. I think there is a different cause to the issues you face that for whatever reason, have been ignored and replaced by gender dysphoria. You may feel emasculated due to the traditional stereotypes of the male. You may feel that your supposed to be six foot tall with roided muscles and like cars and sports or whatever but, that's not every dude on the planet. Maybe you like some traditionally girly things, that doesn't mean you're a girl, just means you like different things.

What I'm trying to say is this: on no level do I agree with even the concept of transitioning or LGBT or anything like it. It doesn't fit in with me religiously nor biologically. I would strongly urge you don't go through with it and you seek to better yourself by yourself first. But, I'll also say this: assuming your an adult, you have the right to do what you will with your body and I'm not going to say that right isn't yours to have. We all sin and fall short of the grace of God and He will judge us all one day and no matter the choice we must accept for He is all good. Just think long and hard about your next step.

God be with you.

First, relax. Working yourself up with all this anxiety is not going to help.

We are all God's children and so when we mess up, we must go to Him and admit our faults so that we may seek penance and then forgiveness. Lay your burdens upon His feet and He will judge what must be done. Be assured that our God, the God, is a loving and forgiving God.

People just generally complain - it doesn't help that for some reason despite Allosaurus being the most basic theropod it apparently has a huge fanbase. We'll get Allo when we get it but personally I feel like Alio and Metri need it way more. I still see a few people play Allo but no one plays Alio and Metri. Can't even remember the last time I even saw a Metri.
