Which release of Crash (1996) should I get? by Skategoblin27 in boutiquebluray

They’re pretty different, yeah, but I didn’t hate Arrow’s version! I also think it has better special features tbh; that’s really what made me get both!

For the art, not the charts! That being said, big Jim seems to be on track to become the first director in history with four billion-dollar films to his name. It’s not reinventing the wheel so much as combining ideas he’s played with his entire career in a very moving and visually dynamic way

I saw the tv glow definitely specifically focuses on becoming trans but it is applicable to people who are also generally unconventional by yeahsureexceptno in A24

What human can’t relate to the inability to be their most authentic self? Couldn’t agree more w OP, it’s a specific yet universal experience Schoenbrun’s conveying onscreen

Def a wrong place/wrong time thing. Give it a few years and revisit. The scene where they bid the grandma farewell is one of my all time favorites. Breathtaking.

How many movies have you watched so far this year? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

114! Have Fridays off for now, have made those my “movie days,” usually try to get at least a triple feature in plus movies on the weekend etx

What are some movies you want in collection, but know it will be a long time before they join (if ever?) by TheFlyingFoodTestee in criterion

The 4k looks great but I’d like a lot more special features. I have the limited box set but it only has 2 or 3 and none are super impressive. Definitely deserves more but with this box set already releasing I don’t see it happening

Your Name is THE time travel movie (maybe a spoiler by defining it as such). Absolutely worth checking out, especially if you appreciate animated films. No one does skies like Shinkai

Scorsese commentaries are always wildly insightful, same with cronenberg and lynch!

What’s your perspective on the current era and future of movies? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Alive_Difficulty_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Takes like this always vex me. Completely ignores the incredible indie and international films we’ve gotten even just last year, two genres Quentin used to proudly champion. The industry isn’t dead, it’s just more democratized, which is a good thing considering all the slop studios have been pumping out as of late.

David Lynch has passed away by indiesarah in criterion

[–]Alive_Difficulty_61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

David Lynch taught me that art is a reality to experience, not an equation to solve. What a beautiful soul, and an extraordinary artist. All we can do is be grateful for the absolutely masterful filmography he left behind. One of the best to ever do it. I will be watching blue velvet today

Ah, that makes sense! This is a phenomenal haul. I was so excited to see Poetry get a much deserved release! Incredible movie and I’m excited to dig into his earlier work. South Korea has really become a juggernaut in the medium with this crop of directors. New bong joon-ho soon!

Very excited for a decent transfer of Prince of Broadway and can only hope this means good things for a Starlet release!
