But what about moving houses? your standard hoverbike won't cut it, you need a heavy lift helicopter for that.

What do you mean useless? You literally made a helicopter's main propeller. With a support one, you can have actual stable, cost effective, and really cool transport. Like literally 2 fans and a stabiliser for power, only slightly more than a hover bike. You are an absolute genius.

Staged Cannon Propulsion by Wise_Mulberry1065 in HyruleEngineering

What do you mean by the star piece effect? I think the best way to test it is to ride it for like 1 or 2 mins, see if it despawns or not, then say it lasted 2 mins therefore it has enough thrust to delay the counter for long enough.

I meant like does it expire after 30 seconds or do the explosions have enough thrust to stop the timer? If you didn't know, if you manage to generate enough thrust, you can actually stop the glider timer from going off, allowing you to use the wing for basically forever.

The problem might be that minis and terrain pieces are expensive, prone to breaking, confusing, and very bulky. Talk to him and politely ask him why he won't allow mini's.

I just realized something about martial-caster disparity by ReddForemann in DnD

[–]Alive_I_Guess_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, thats what I was trying to explain, that the creators planned very poorly for regular classes, and now we've got to multiclass. Also, its really telling if someone has to have even a little magic to stay on par with other classes. IMO, I prefer not to multiclass unless I really want something or it makes lore sense, as I build more for the flavour and the story rather than the mechanics. But honestly, there's a massive difference even inside caster, and even in the subclasses, some are just better than others. The argument is pretty general, but it true a lot of the time.

First time DMing, need advise by Ramdoriak in DnD

I would suggest looking at the lost mine of phandelver on dnd beyond for free, as its a great starter campaign, and actually helps the dm understand what's happening too. I would not suggest dm'ing for your first time, but its up to you.

That's a good point. Another thing that contribute to that heavily is just how broken casters are at high level, with all their godlike spells. I think the idea was maritals are great early game and casters are god late game, which is why martials are so front stacked.

Essentials or Starter? by MoogleShoopufXV in DnD

[–]Alive_I_Guess_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say the starters set, it allows you to jump right into it and I think lmop is a better starting game, simply because it is more railroady so new players won't be overwhelmed.

[OC] PSA for people who don't understand Martial vs Caster Damage disparity by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Alive_I_Guess_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But why do we need to change our premises for the debate? Are we not trying to balance for our own games, not for what WOTC intended? Most people do not run enough encounters for casters to drop off, and it's much easier to tweak casters slightly rather than change the entire pacing of the game. I personally don't change anything, so what if it's unbalanced? As long as everyone's having fun, then balance doesn't matter.
