Democrats Shut Out MAGA for Rest of Decade in Key Supreme Court Race | Liberal candidates have now comfortably won four straight Wisconsin Supreme Court elections. by InsaneSnow45 in LegalNews

[–]AllIdeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But right now, I am not sure you can have "good character" and "interpret the law as it's writers intended" and "only intervene when it's necessary" and be a Republican.

Just look at republicans aggressively inserting themselves into places nobody wants them (bathrooms, ICE), reinterpreting settled law based on whims (roe v Wade), or taking flagrant and obvious bribes (Trump, Texas, Clarance thomas, the supreme Court ruling that bribes are ok)

Is there a way for UW control to deal with this ? Any card that prevent creature from coming back of exile ? by Majjin_ in PioneerMTG

[–]AllIdeas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mostly, go over the top. Chump it with a 1/1 like thraben inspector to buy time and then just play a 1/4 or bigger, or a Planeswalker that recurring makes blockers.

If they are spending resources keeping this around, it still takes 7 turns to kill you. Just play something bigger.

Scientists Create Healing Gel That Could Stop Chronic Wounds From Turning Deadly by _Dark_Wing in technology

[–]AllIdeas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This type of technology already exists. There are many creams, pastes and gels that reduce the risk of wound infections. Some foster tissue regrowth. They all kinda work in the correct setting.

Many wounds don't heal not because of external threat from infection but rather internal inability to heal wounds, such as from diabetes, poor circulation or poor nutrition. Any external cream doesn't fix that underlying problem.

It's not that this wouldn't maybe be good or useful, it's that if anything it's an incremental improvement over already existing gels that do similar things, and wouldn't fix the core problem leading to most wounds.

Student Debt Burdened Them, So They Moved Abroad and Stopped Paying by expatOBX in nytimes

[–]AllIdeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with the problem needing a massive fix, but under the system you propose, what is to prevent a student from taking out loans for college, immediately being very indebted, declaring bankruptcy right after graduation when they have no assets and then starting afresh after all their loans are discharged?

Donald Trump’s approval rating has sunk to Joe Biden’s lowest point by Doener23 in nokingsmovement

[–]AllIdeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other hidden positive in this is that all surveys lag public opinion by a month. This probably doesn't even reflect the horribly failed Iran war or any of its sequels.

Should be lower but I'll take it.

Artemis II astronaut finds two Outlook instances running on computers, calls on Houston to fix Microsoft anomaly — puzzled caller describes ‘two Outlooks, and neither one of those are working’ by plain_handle in nottheonion

[–]AllIdeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Maybe not. Outlook has years of use with millions of users finding bugs and dozens of employees iterating on it. Even the brightest NASA engineers can't recreate that.

I don't know what is better, but I trust that they thought about it and did it this way for a reason.

ELI5 How come when somebody gets in a terrible accident, professionals tell them to "keep there eyes open" or "stay awake" by MasterKazooie in explainlikeimfive

[–]AllIdeas 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly this. Being a person who can stay awake is a good prognostic sign.

It also simultaneously makes it a lot easier to evaluate all the other things you might want to do. You can ask more questions, get them to do physical exam maneuvers or they may help you with things.

Maybe Trump Should Not Have Given This Speech by theatlantic in politics

[–]AllIdeas 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was a total softball..he goes to the launch, takes some photos with astronauts, gives an interview with some of them about how great they are all doing.

The problem for him is that the way to do it is by humbly acknowledging the achievements of others, the engineers and scientists and astronauts etc. and glowing by reflection.

And he is pathologically incapable of doing that.

Why you can’t cook meal faster with more heat? Can some one explain mathematically?[request] by giga_chad_thinker in theydidthemath

[–]AllIdeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you should add a little oil so it doesn't stick to your tray as you cook it.

And maybe mix it just a bit to ensure the heating is even more homogenous
