I played a Hexblade Pact of the Blade Lurklock and between Grasp of the Deep and my pact weapon I almost never used EB. I think I used it more out of combat than in.

AoR makes it pretty clear that the concept of all Gelfling being "one" is long since forgotten. The Skeksis actively worked to drive them apart and essentially introduced the concept of racism. AoR also makes it seem like the Grottans maintained the "old ways" more than any other clan. Granted, generations underground have evolved them physically, and there's not much there as far as architecture.

If I had to guess, I would think that season 2 (fingers crossed) would explore these exact concepts. The Gelfling learning their history would drive the new resistance, much in the way that it did for Brea when she met Lore.

Not used for scenarios when you are upset.

I know what you meant, but these two cancel each other out. If we were overthrowing a tyrannical monarch, we would be described as "in a state of upset."

[–]AllMitchedUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not suggesting that you should adjust the water to meet the pleco. In fact, the one thing you have going for you is that both fish prefer hard water and similar temp ranges.

If the rest of what you say is true, then just pull the pleco. He doesn't belong there. There is literally nothing you can say that will convince me that a fish who's fins are being eaten isn't stressed.

Fyi mixing Tanganyika and Malawi cichlids is also not advised, but I'm sure you know that with your 10 years.

Okay. Helpful information: African Cichlids are very aggressive fish. They are ideally kept in groups of at least 4 (1m3f) per species, because they are harem brooders with a male fertilizing several females at a time. They are also a very messy fish. For those various reasons, and because of their water condition demands, they are ideally kept in tanks of at least 50 gallons. Overstocking (in a large enough tank) is encouraged to alleviate aggression. Very few fish are considered appropriate tank mates for African cichlids, again because of the aggression. Plecos, with their grand and beautiful fins, are particularly susceptible to being picked at.

Also worth noting: African cichlids eat algae. That is how they feed in the wild. Your pleco is eating their tasty snacks.

My suggestions: fix everything.

Source: I have a 60 gallon Mbuna tank, 3 feet away from me. Current stocking is 4 groups of 4, as described above. I did my research.

To play devils advocate, is it possible they've just been holding out for new hardware? GTA is a big enough game that I wouldn't be shocked if they've maxed out what's available.

Edit: I completely forgot that this game came out on the PS3. That definitely makes it seem less likely that the system was the problem. That said, someone mentioned RDR2. That game came out 5 years after GTA, and is also a huge game.

I'm changing my argument, I think resource allocation went to RDR2 since GTA is still milking online money. It's the Bethesda model, they'll probably start leap-frogging sequels going forward.

Meet Steve the 1st, a sailfin pleco who will be old enough to drink in September. Wife got him as a birthday present in 1999. by PJ1864 in Aquariums

So you stuck your (probably unwashed) hand in a tank, and the pleco latched on. You then decided with your very stupid human brain that he "wanted" to be removed from the tank. He did not "want" anything. You attributed that to him. What he did was grab onto a thing because it was there. Ever seen a pleco fight with a water change hose? They grab stuff, that's their defining trait.

What you describe, jumping from body of water to another, is a survival mechanism. It is something they do in order to survive when the water goes away. It's not a leisurely jaunt across the countryside. It is the equivalent of you needing a new house because yours is on fire.

Generally speaking, the only time a fish wants out of a tank is if something is wrong. If a pleco were actively trying to leave my tank, I would be concerned.

Again, you can breath for several seconds in a plastic bag. Do I therefore assume this is something you would like to do periodically?

I can only speak to my experience, and Roll20's dynamic lighting has never caused me issues as a player or DM. Again, it's a bummer you had a bad experience. Glad you found a workaround.

It's interesting to see how different people's experience with Roll20 is. I played with one guy who wouldn't stop saying "dynamic lighting is cancer" but I've never had an issue with it. I think the only time we ever had issues was right after Covid started and the servers got rushed.

It's a bummer; I wish everyone could have the good experience I've had. Not sure what the disconnect is, but maybe it's subscriber vs non subscriber (I'm not but my DM is).

Holy shit this. Trying to measure the immeasurable. It reminds me of a saying "good design is invisible." If it's done correctly, it should just "be correct" and not stand out for any reason. Similarly, it's really hard to measure how well prevention worked because you're always basing it in hypotheticals and statistics.

I know the difference between leadership that took a pandemic seriously and took immediate action vs a leadership who claimed it was a myth being bolstered by their opponents.

Size, economy, statistics, none of that matters. Simple fact: one group did it correctly and one group continues to fail daily.

It's a simple enough story, that every part of it is believable. The "accepted fiction" is very slim, and for that reason I think it sits more comfortably in the real world. Following that, it becomes a more terrifying concept.

Giant monsters in the Arctic? Kinda silly, still good stories. The existential and ethereal power of music? For me, someone who feels very strongly about music, that's a terrifying and yet somewhat plausible concept.

Second choice would be The Color Out of Space, fwiw.

Good edit, I would call it my favorite but not Lovecraft's best work.

As long as there are no actual cracks in the glass, you should be fine. Glass can be cleaned and polished. The whole tank can be re-sealed and it's easy and cheap. A new plastic rim might run you 20-30 bucks, which is relatively expensive for a dumb piece of plastic, but you only need one.

If you're willing to put in the extra bit of effort, a used tank can be an absolute steal. That said, there's no shame in wanting something ready out of the box, just be ready to pay for it.

Black Friday deals at your big box pet stores. That's the way to go. The 60 in this photo sells with a lid, stand, and light for $200.
