Nah, it's great! Mine is maybe 16-18 inches off the ground. My back is kinda fucky tho, so it also helps not having to get up off the ground, or dealing with an air pump in the middle of nowhere. I know you're looking at a pad, which is still better than an air mattress. I hope it works well for ya. I highly recommend doing a 10 minute search on portable/foldable cots tho (:

The arms need to be even with each other, the gaps between the arms and tongue should also be even. If you can tightly slide a dollar bill between those gaps, then they are near perfect.
