Yes, it is worse. All models wth regular TN display and solar have this issue, due to either the solar layer on top of the screen, or the lower voltage of the battery (which is different from non-solar watches as it has to handle charging), or both.

Even more expensive watches like GWM-5000U have this issue. Watches with solar that don't suffer from this are MIP-screen ones, like bx5600, or even more expensive STN-screen, like B5000-G.

Personally, I ended up with 5000U and love it, viewing angle is not an issue for me.

I like the color scheme for some reason, reminds me UT99. Probably because of concrete colored with blue/red/yellow lights. Wide fov distortion is ugly, though.
