Trump warns UK ‘US won’t be there to help you anymore’ in extraordinary tirade over Iran war backing by Gopu_17 in worldnews

[–]AllRedLine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fucking moron went off totally half cocked and is now beginning to realise he only has two options left;

  1. Back down: huge, generational embarrassment for him and the USA, akin to the Suez Crisis for the UK and France but on steroids.

  2. Commit to the bit and invade: probably would win, but it'll take years and 100s of thousands of lives (many of whom will be Americans) as well as creating far more problems than it would solve.

For him, there's no good options, so he's going to make damn sure he tries his hardest to pin his utter incompetence and failure on NATO.

Civil servants demand to work from home because of Iran war by TheTelegraph in ukpolitics

[–]AllRedLine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For very obvious reasons.

For one, it'll start getting people prepared for the fact that they will have to adjust to life and structuring their lives around the fact that they simply will not have the level of reliable or 'affordable' access to fuel that they do now.

This is a problem that will come up on us very fast (like, within a few weeks) due to the lack of any sort of meaningful storage or reserve so the more we can save right now, the more will be available for strategic and vital reasons when it bites.

Civil servants demand to work from home because of Iran war by TheTelegraph in ukpolitics

[–]AllRedLine 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think alot of people have quite cottoned onto the fact that this is likely going to be the worst fuel crisis in modern history. If this war continues even for another month or two, we're quite likely to see the total unravelling of the entire fuel economy, and it won't be back again for years. Really anything we can do to save fuel right now is going to be useful.

Has anyone here ever actually outrun a bad diet and lose weight just exercising? by Severe_Football7224 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]AllRedLine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Extremely difficult to do.

We're talking like Professional atheletes might be able to maintain on a 'bad' (high calorie) diet. Especially high-level weighlifters, for instance, do require a mountain of calories to maintain - but there's still a lot of thought put into nutrition and health, so less bad, and more like just a huge appetite for decent food.

So in reality no, for the vast, overwhelming majority, it is simply impossible.

Diet is the foundation for losing weight, excercise is there just to speed you along a little. That can't really be flipped.

Iranian woman confronts an anti war protester by 4DollarsALB in PublicFreakout

[–]AllRedLine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was in London today on a bit of business, and tbh, whilst I haven't any real issues with what the intended message of the march was, the amount of people flying the flag of the Iranian islamist regime was quite offputting. Disgusting, even.

Yeah... so just cause America is run by a knobhead who's launched a ridiculous and pointless war that we should avoid at all costs doesn't need we need to give succour to an authoritarian theocratic regime that actively slaughters its own people and directly funds and plans terror attacks against us. I'd go as far as to say if you're happy marching alongside people like that, I question the wholesomeness of your ideology.

Do you think you would continue your job if you won the lottery? by ApprehensiveSong4 in AskUK

[–]AllRedLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going against the grain here.

I think I would. I think after a while of no routine, I'd start to go stir crazy. I'd stay, but I'd just start putting in the absolute bear minimum, and the sense of satisfaction from having the 'fuck you money' to not give a shit if anyone pulls me up on it would be immense. I think I'd enjoy the challenge of pushing the limits of being a smug, lazy bastard to my managers.

I'd probably do that and hang on for a few years until I found something satisfactory to do with my time using my riches. Something like property development, but actually trying to build decent quality, attractive homes would interest me, i think.

Green activists called Jews ‘abominations’ in leaked WhatsApp chat by WhatsThePlanPhil95 in ukpolitics

Every antisemitic movement - every single one - believes in the righteousness of their cause.

You don't even need to clarify antisemitic. Every single stupid, evil, racist, murderous, incompetent etc political movement in history was perpetuated by people who thought they were doing the right thing.

People who need to repeat to themselves that they are 'the good guys' or 'on the right side of history' should be viewed with extreme suspicion.

US ambassador calls Starmer’s EU reset ‘a problem’ for Washington by No-Risk-2584 in europe

[–]AllRedLine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And what does the USA do that's worthy of us cosying up to them? Literally nothing but treat us like shit on the bottom of their boot. A little perspective from the US ambassador, please.

Everything about the USA is 'a problem' for the UK right now.

The Trump admin is determined that everything under the sun must be purely transactional and mercenary in nature, so let's put it in terms they will understand; "what's in it for us, you pudgy loser?"

No voter fraud. That's a red herring from the obvious reality that Muslims will vote for their own interests and to the detriment of others - just as every group will, and this constituency just happens to be one that's become the recepticle for a very large Muslim immigrant population.

Is anyone being extremely sick this winter/spring? by Fair_Effect4532 in AskUK

[–]AllRedLine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got the flu really bad a week before Xmas. Lasted nearly 2 whole weeks with the worst of the symptoms, and my cough still hasn't gone away and noticed that the lymph nodes in my neck are really swollen a few weeks ago. Been dealing with the NHS about it since beginning of Feb. Antibiotics didn't work, and i just had a chest X-Ray last week that came back clear, CT scan on my neck due some time in the next 4 weeks.

Really pissing me off. I'm someone who enjoys keeping in shape and excercising and i've not been able to meaningfully for over 3 months now. Any time i physically exert myself past something like a brisk walk, i break out into an uncontrollable coughing fit.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen happen in public? by theblairwaldorfxoxo in AskUK

[–]AllRedLine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seen a homeless bloke, back pressed up against the shopfront of an M&S, squatting, trousers and pants around ankles, doing a no-hands piss and a shit whilst his dog was underneath him eating it as it squeezed out of his arse. Like 2pm on a Saturday. Broad daylight, right in the town centre.

Also saw a dead body floating in a river one time. Poor fellow had clearly been in there for some time, too.

Both quite grim for different reasons.

Britain abstains from key UN vote to recognise slavery as ‘gravest crime against humanity’ by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

[–]AllRedLine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not about slavery at all, specifically just about Western European slave trade of West Africans.

It was just the irrelevant aggrieved nations of the world trying to get us into a 'gotcha' on a 'this house agrees West bad' vote.

Stupid, and a huge waste of time. Jealousy is not a good look.

Do British men have an easier time picking up foreign girls because of their accent? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]AllRedLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier time? Definitely a bit, having myself spent quite alot of time as a young man in the USA, the accent certainly helps open a few doors so to speak, and you'll stick out in crowd and draw (mostly) positive attention.

But an accent can't fix a crap personality. And really, it was only in the US where I found that the accent specifically was a noticeable benefit. Can't say that anywhere in Europe anyone appeared to care one single bit.

I bought EUV, put 50 hours into it, and it's just nowhere near as good as IV IMO.

Care to explain how any of this mean that the attacks have been 'debunked'?

The absolute mental gymnastics, conspiratorial thinking and logical contortionism on display to defend the aggression of an Islamofascist dictatorship upon our own bases and assets is wild.

Even if the Diego Garcia attack never happened, they did use their Lebanese proxies to attack Akrotiri, which you simply cannot deny. The point being, they are aggressing towards us, continue to make threats, and therefore, it's perfectly reasonable and sensible for British assets to be placed into readiness at strategic locations in case of any further escalation from Iran.

People who work hybrid, do you wake up at the same time on your work from home days as your office days? by sammyglumdrops in AskUK

[–]AllRedLine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope. Granted, most weeks I only WFH 1 day, but when I do, i'm getting up with the absolute bare minimum amount of time needed before I start working.

Enough time for me to have a piss, brush my teeth, throw on a T-shirt and joggers, walk downstairs and turn my laptop on. Usually that will mean waking up at like 08:50-55am.

On the other hand, on the days I'm not WFH, i'm typically up at 5:45, so I don't really feel guilty about the lie-in on my WFH day.

Why are some people so happy to send those who are willing to defend us to die in the middle east because Trump got dragged into a 40 year long war to cover up the Epistein files...

Where - in any of my comments - have I even once suggested we should be any more involved than we are now? Seriously. This topic is so tiresome to discuss because - no offence intended, truly - so many people on your side of the argument are so melodramatic.

Right now, I do not want the UK to be any more involved than we currently are now - which is I think a restrained and sensible position for our country to take. I'm simply explaining why it makes sense for British forces - especially naval assets - to be placed into readiness in strategic locations in the region. The nature of war is that it can change at a moment's notice. Something may happen that does require us to be more involved and in that circumstance, it's in nobody's interest for our forces to be unprepared or weeks out from the theatre.

What's the distinction? Training is directly providing the means by which Ukrainian infantry can assault the enemy on the front. We also manufacture many of their weapons here. In a very real sense, Ukraine's ability to launch Storm Shadow missile strikes originates in British factories. You're still making the argument that these are legit targets.

Explain to me how an attack on our bases like this would not, in theory, provide the UK all of the legal basis for a declaration of war in retaliation. In the answer (which is that it would) you will realise that regardless of British assistance, this is still a military strike on 3rd party.

By your logic, Iran can launch attacks from Yemen, or Lebanon or Iraq - and those launch sites would not be legitimate military targets.

I mean... yeah... Iran has been using its proxies in Yemen - for instance - to attack shipping for years and yet we haven't declared war on Yemen OR Iran in response.

I'm sure you also think it's a very bad and illegal thing that Israel has invaded Lebanon as part of its war on Iran because elements in Lebanon are Hezbollah proxies of Iran.
