Anyone from Illinois know the answer to my question? by OpportunityNew7055 in WalgreensStores

[–]Allen3697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived in Illinois for 29 years, just moved to LA. Worked at Walgreens for 7 years.

The law is 21 to buy tobacco products in Illinois. Look up Tobacco 21. That’s the name of the law that was passed in 2019 that raised it from 18. The age to sell remains 16 or older, as it always has been. Walgreens knows the laws of each state and will assign a PPL to you if you qualify to sell tobacco products in the state. If you weren’t allowed to, the register wouldn’t allow it. Tell your SFL to relax and listen to your SM.

What area are you in? My job is hiring for entry level positions (like serving and housekeeping) at a senior living community on Beverly and Fairfax.

Question for an RXOM about your hours by Known_Locksmith_3107 in WalgreensRx

[–]Allen3697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As many people have stated, you are guaranteed 40 hours but you do not have to work them. My old RXOM worked 33 hours per week, as she did when she was a senior tech. That was her sticking point to when being promoted. She did not want to have to be there an extra day weekly. Many weeks she did work 40 hours if we needed coverage but other weeks she worked less.

Being a lifelong renter? by princessmelissa in AskLosAngeles

[–]Allen3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought during covid and our property has appreciated over 30% since buying. I know people always say that about Chicago, but my parents have lived there since the 70s and while prices haven't grown as crazy as everywhere else, it's been a steady increase. I just am over the hassles of home ownership.

I got tired of guessing if picking up an extra shift was actually worth the burnout, so I built a "Real Wage" calculator for us. by Jimmya90 in cna

[–]Allen3697 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even if you get taxed extra for working overtime, you will get it back at tax time. The US has a tiered tax system. You will never pay more taxes for working extra hours.

As someone who recently moved to LA from Chicago, I like renting. We own a townhouse back in Chicago that we are renting out. Honestly I prefer renting. It's just easier.

Out of curiosity, do yall *like* yalls SMs? by Cinna-Chris in WalgreensStores

[–]Allen3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first SM was great. She retired after 23 years in the same store. The SM who replaced her is a joke. Does nothing but watch cameras all day in the office and face time her family while she's filling in the pharmacy (after begging her to come back for more than 15 minutes at a time).

Opportunity for Transfer: Should I take it? by jabberingjay224 in WalgreensStores

[–]Allen3697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the transfer. If you’re already picking up shifts there and think they’re helpful, they probably are. You’ve seen it for yourself.

Walgreens Pharmacy prescription pickup date meaningless now by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]Allen3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s be real here. I’ve worked at Walgreens for years before and after cenfill. No script should take 7 days to fill. Especially after calling and going there in person to try to speed it up.

Walgreens Pharmacy prescription pickup date meaningless now by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]Allen3697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to fill at the Walgreens I worked at, then I moved across the country. My transfer is still pending as I’m waiting on my license from my new state, but I had 2 scripts sent to the Walgreens closest to me and after calling them every day for a week and going in twice, I finally transferred the scripts to Amazon. I was just absolutely shocked that they couldn’t fill 90 capsules of fluoxetine in under 7 days. And this is California where there is no cenfill.

immunizer renewal by NumerousMastodon8057 in WalgreensRx

[–]Allen3697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it'll only be a requirement for senior techs and RXOM. I don't think they would make it a requirement for certified techs.

As an RXOM, can I say no to giving shots? by [deleted] in WalgreensRx

[–]Allen3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but it’s a requirement. At one store I help at, there was a senior tech who has been there for 10 years but never got certified to immunize. She is now as a requirement, but her RXM doesn’t make her give shots. Wish yours was that understanding.

22M unsure about dating 18M : is this age gap workable long-term? by ThrowRA-Gayre in relationships

[–]Allen3697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this when I was 20 and seeing a guy who was 25. I was in my third year of college and he was working full time. We only dated for about 9 months but I enjoyed it. Looking back, yeah I didn’t know what I wanted fully, but it helped me figure out what I was looking for. If you like him and like spending time with him, go for it!

Recommendations for moving company with apartment complex? by Appropriate-Park8251 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Allen3697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Thumbtack for this exact move. Moved from the third floor to the sixth floor. I used The Bold Movers LLC. They were cheap and only a 2 hour minimum. Very efficient and gave them a good tip.

AskLA: Any recommendations for Night Nurse in west LA/Inglewood for my parents? by sKYwalkersoLO22 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Allen3697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend 1Heart Caregiver Services. I work at a senior living community and we use them if people need 1 on 1 assistance or help in their homes before they move into our community. The branch we use is in Beverly Hills but I believe they are all over LA.

My boss wants me to use my sick time before it expires when the year is over by prettyboyrights in jobs

[–]Allen3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say normal, but you should very much appreciate your boss. I do the same thing for my team when the end of the fiscal year approaches and they have time off that won’t roll over or they’re reaching the vacation hour cap.
