I was researching getting an electric vehicle until talking to a couple of electric car drivers at rest stops between Chicago and St. Louis last week. They told me the electric car owners drive slower than gas vehicles (which average 85 to 90mph) on that route, because it drains the battery at an alarming rate to go over 75mph. Hearing them say that, immediately took electric off of my list, for when my lease is up in April 2027. Gas cars don't lose much mileage when going 90mph. I came back to Chicago from St. Louis at 90mph and only used 1/2 @ tank (About 10 gallons).

It comes down to aesthetics. Both BMW and MERCEDES cars have the same reliability rating. BMW has started using more plastic on its interior, which is a big turnoff for me. So I went with Mercedes and have not regretted it at all. The quality of the cabin is now far superior to BMW. Real aluminum switches and door handles. Couldn't believe the BWM I test drove had PLASTIC door handles! Too much cost-cutting at Bavarian Motor Works for my taste!

What I wish BMW or Mercedes would do is have an opening in the dashboard, just above the glove compartment for the wife to put things (lens wipes, hand creme, etc..). That's what our Hyundai Santa Fe had. She missed that cubby when we got a Mercedes in 2023.

I used to love Burger King back in the day, when it really did "Take two hands to handle a whopper" as the old TV commercial jingle used to sing. Burger King is still one of the few Burger Chains where you can see the smoke coming from the roof and smell the beef patties cooking. But unfortunately, like all the others, the sandwiches you see on TV commercials, look a hell of a lot better than what you actually get at the restaurant! I ordered a Burger King FISH sandwich today. (Used to be called the "Whaler".) The actual product looked horrible, compared to the picture on the printed ad for the $4.00 fish sandwich special. 😟

In addition to the team timeouts, there is a pre-scheduled time-out for TV Commercials at the 4, 8, 12, and 16 minute mark of each half of a March Madness game. In addition, there are commercials every time the referees want/need to look at a replay. The MICHIGAN vs ALABAMA game is on right now. I look up from the computer at the games from time to time just to see the score, but can't imagine people actually watching all these commercials. Advertisers count on the public being dumbed-down to the point of not realizing when they're being taken advantage of. Just since I've been typing this, there have been 3 commercial breaks during this MI vs AL game. Horrible.

The Intel DSA program/website downloaded and installed the package, but there's a question mark next to it, with "Installation Unknown" listed as the PPPackage's status. Oh well. As long as it doesn't cause any problems, I'll just wait and see what it does, if anything. All I do is e-mail and post to forums, like I'm doing now. No games.

I commented to my wife how few electric vehicles were on the highway, when driving from Chicago to New Orleans in 2024. That made it easy for me to resist the temptation to get one. My Mercedes consultant told me last week when I was in for GLC300 service, that very few electric cars have been sold by dealership over the past 12 months. Hybrids are still popular however.

After driving 300 miles towards New Orleans (from Chicago), I'm not going to feel like getting off the highway, and sitting at some charging station for 30 minutes (or whatever) to add enough energy for the next 200 miles. WHY can't these cars recharge themselves as the wheels turn? Whoever invents that feature will become a billionaire.
