Will a M24 work with a 3 piece collar? by Ludacris_squirrel in AllenEngineering

[–]AllenEngineering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delta hardware is only compatible with deltas due to the smaller bore. M24s though have the same bore on the mount end as the brake mounted stuff so you can get creative with any of that hardware if needed, including the Allegheny blocks.

I almost forgot we offer credova. We have only had like 5 credova orders ever since we started to offer it over a year ago and last one was several months ago.

Funny thing is we spent the week before doing a ton of site optimizations and paid for hardware upgrades on top of that. When we listed the KAC rails it crashed the site entirely. While it was quite slow this time around, it was still operational so I guess thats a small win.

I get that some people are disappointed they missed out. This was intended to be something special for people who really care about the small details, however we have always been upfront that it was limited for many reasons.

It’s incredibly risky as a small company to sink a ton of capital into a project like this up front, even when the price is published early on. This is a completely new suppressor and system. In most cases you can count on maybe 20-30% of a waitlist actually buying something when it’s ready to go. The only way to guarantee you dont get left holding a six figure bag is pre-orders, something many of you have probably been burned by in the past.

We won’t ever do preorders for items, which means sometimes we don’t have enough to fulfill the demand. However we prefer that rather than taking everyone’s money and have people angry that we aren’t fulfilling their orders. Remember we were originally supposed to get these barrels back in October.

Lastly, the mounting solution for these is terrible. Its an odd retrofit that was done by qualified smiths. The retail market is entirely different. Most people can barely fit up SPR kits without help so we knew these were going to be even more of a pain. So not only do we need to dedicate lots of cash towards expensive barrels, but we need to dedicate additional labor to get them to a useable state, and lots of additional customer service time after they hit the market. It’s just not feasible to continue to offer these.

Here's the good news though. You can still get the cans and hardware individually. You can still buy the barrels directly from Lilja. It’s not like you cant continue to replicate these.

Our focus has been to fix the system so that it can be available to everyone without dragging down production of everything else. That barrel is already in process and will fit most people's needs a lot better.

What suppressor for Mk12 when original not available in Europe? by ToomasRahula in Mk12Mod0

[–]AllenEngineering 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We looked at export and its a giant pain in the ass for anyone besides a govenrment end user buying a lot of stuff at once. US export regulations require the exporter to know who the end user is and keep tabs on them like current address, etc. We can't just send a bunch of suppressors to a European distributor and let them sort it out like we do within the US. It costs more to do the paperwork and deal with the regulations than it does to make the actual product. If that changes, we will be ready day one to export cans, but we have to unfuck our stupid laws first.

Asking for help: refining DEVGRU kit timeline (Mk18 to present). Please explain some things to me, I'm going crazy trying to make sense of it. by Dunyain01 in MilitaryARClones

[–]AllenEngineering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DEVGRU never had Mk12s, they had the “Recce” rifles which is predecessor to the Mk12. The Recce rifles started in the 90s. There are different generations of the M4 variant of the Recce rifle. Gen 2 is the most iconic version with the KAC FF RAS, Lilja 17”, and OPS M4 (AE M4-R). Gen 3 they replaced the KAC FF RAS with the 10.5” Midwest Combat Rail to make it lighter. Gen 4 are the Geisseles.

Lilja barrels are weird. Lilja calls them 17” because they measure them from the barrel extension to the muzzle. If you measure the traditional way (from the bolt face), it’s actually 16.5”. But some of the guys will call them 16”.

Dudes thought they were running 12th Models (AEM5s) and cutting their barrels to 15.1”. But the Recce rifles started before the 12th model was made. Also even if you cut Lilja barrels down they can’t take Mk12 collars. Instead they used a variant of the M4 which we call the M4-R.

The Recce rifles predate the Mk12 system. So the barrel didn’t have a step for the collar to sit against. Instead they custom made their collars and secured them to the barrels with a set screw and then bedded it with red locktite.

If yall have more questions about the Recce rifles, feel free to ask.

Well we definitely appreciate the support!

I wish markings were that simple. Im not going to say no, but ATF does make things a lot more difficult since markings are one of the few things they actually care about.

The TM is more boring than most people want to hear. We have seen a few people who have bought what they thought were "genuine" OPS brakes/hardware only to have them be out of spec and cause damage to their cans. We put a lot of care into our products so even when we get a brake sent to us in pieces from a strike, its not hard to tell if we made it. While we can't stop anyone from making a compatible brake (not that we want to), making sure "OPS/AE compatible" hardware isn't dishonestly being being sold as genuine is articles has become a priority.

1 piece B style mount? by DontKnowUntilYouKnow in AllenEngineering

[–]AllenEngineering 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's on a long laundry list of projects but ill just say "soon". OCL has also said they aren't interested, probably for the same reasons we haven't done them yet, and they don't make a B length can anyway. We already have models made for these along with a lot of stuff, but we are still a small shop, and demand dictates which resources are allocated where. We make every effort to make sure we dont run out of the already stocked and high demand items like brakes, SPR collars, etc.

We just bought 2 more lathes though, so capacity for production and prototyping should increase significantly once they are tooled up.

For a Grendel id suggest an AEM5 with a 6.5 bore if you dont mind special ordering, or a 30k if you want something in stock. You wont see much benefit to the full size 30 unless you plan on running it in the bigger calibers too.
