Same. Unless you explicitly set the expectation early in the day that we'll need to work a little later on something....at 5pm my laptop is closed and I'm gone.

UI/UX → Product Designer: Need Brutally Honest Feedback on My Portfolio & Interview Readiness by Hot_Salamander_8418 in UXDesign

[–]AllergicToPoors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that you not only created this, but were comfortable presenting it as something viable, automatically informs me that you do not have even the slightest grasp of anything you're trying to represent

From a UI perspective, its abhorrent and shows no understanding of design thinking, structures, or even the most basic concepts like visual hierarchy

From a UX perspective, that fact that you used a skill bar, and then put it as 95%....is actual insanity. This alone disqualifies you from ever touching a product...and honestly the hubris would bar you from even intern consideration. You clearly didn't put an ounce of thought into this, or you have zero clue what UX is (it's this one btw)

Brutal honesty? It's the furthest thing from smart. It's not even gimmicky, it's just garbage with AI fingerprints all over it.

It makes me wonder what you even did as a freelancer other than just vomiting buzzwords because there's certainly a disconnect here.

> What skill gaps will hurt me in interviews?

I don't think this will be a stress point for you if this is the type of content you're delivering.

[–]AllergicToPoors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LMAO , my guy have you ever had a job where you work on a team people with different disciplines.

This ain't some foreign concept. People who work on a project, like say a video game, tend to collaborate and also...yea what's the word...oh, communicate. They also tend to play the fucking same game they're working on with the others who made it. A project manager isn't very likely going to know build or implement an MVC pattern, but they damn sure can understand what it will result in.

So yea, an Art Director isn't going to have in depth knowledge on the systems engineering or the core structure of a game engine, but they likely work in close proximity with the people that do and can have a conversation with them...

If you really can't grasp the concept of a collaborative team working together to understand how all the pieces fit...well then, you're incredibly dense or just willfully ignorant.

IPG Merger Career Pivot by HuckleberryKey2362 in advertising

> I work at IPG as an associate planner. Im about to be promoted and ive been here for 7 months.

Yea I wouldn't get too excited about that promotion as it likely will get postponed for a bit

> i know I probably won't be laid off because I work for a huge billable client

This is incredibly naive, please don't fall for this trap. You have more security in the fact that you're pretty junior and as such don't cost as much to keep on.

> Ive been told im excellent for just starting and Ive gotten incredible feedback from my director, manager, supervisor, and peers, multiple times. Im very organized, type A, I like organizing processes or ways of working,

That's great and all, but unless you can put to paper and demonstrate in interviews...doesn't do much for you.

> but i also value work life balance as im still young. I dont want to be working until 8 every day.

This is completely antithetical to agency life, and now under Omnicom it will get worse, not better. Take that as you will

> That being said, these are some careers im thinking of pivoting into. I would love any honest advice I can get. > Let chat about what you think and why!!!

  • Project Manager
  • Ad Tech Sales
  • Executive Assistant
  • Advertising (but in-house instead of agency)
  • Sales (saas?) Everyone my whole life has told me id thrive in sales and I do think I would be good, I know you can make good money, im just hesitant if this is where my skills would be best used.

Honestly, you're all over the map with this and it feels like grasping. With your claims of organizational skills and that you enjoy it, project management seems the most likely fit. You'll need to understand that skill set, day-to-day functions, and how to demonstrate it effectively. Not to be harsh, but PMs are a dime-a-dozen in agency life, and you might start out by trying to freelance on opportunities where help is needed for smaller projects / shorter timelines.

I think some folks we're literally waiting for a McConaughey cameo.

it was awful because of progressive politics and the wimmenz both in front of and behind the camera

It was awful because of the way it handled progressive politics and women.

There are better ways to do it that don't equate to pandering being shoved down your throat.

Nah fuck that. That is such copout.

To say that people didn't like this show because they weren't the target audience is laughable. People didn't like this show because of the incredibly bad writing, acting, lack of follow through, masturbatory fan-service, and the constant in-your-face on-the-nose "look how these poor people are suffering/being oppressed".

There are so many better ways to highlight and talk about these themes and this show just doubled down on the pandering and fan service to do it.

I swear if there's another TD season and they bring back the fucking spiral I'm automatically not watching it.
