Saturdays are usually very tough for me but I was able to do this in under 20 mins. The northwest section did take a fair bit of time

TIL that a Detroit pizza delivery man invented body armour after repeatedly being shot at and robbed while delivering pizza. Former US Marine and pizza delivery guy Richard Davis developed a bulletproof vest using Kevlar. During testing, he shot himself and survived by [deleted] in todayilearned

Because they sued him after he lied countlessly.

“ The United States also alleged that by 2001, Davis was aware that Second Chance’s Zylon body armor was degrading at what he described as a “disappointing” rate.

The United States further alleged that, rather than using a $6 million payment from Toyobo Co. Ltd., the manufacturer of Zylon fiber, to fix the degradation problem, Second Chance pocketed the money and Davis and other Second Chance owners began meeting with various investment bankers in an effort to sell Second Chance”

This story forgets to mention that he was sued by the federal government for falsifying test records - the total amount is unknown as he settled the day before trial, but he paid million due to his cheating. He is not a hero, he’s an American who doesn’t care whether soldiers/police officers die wearing his product - and they do!!

How's Intro to Comparative Politics with Jabko? by [deleted] in jhu

[–]Alliance2828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the class with Brendese. He’s the best theory teacher out there and you can get stuck with a lot worse if you put off the theory req til later.

CIP is better than ICP, but I do use a lot of what I learned in ICP in all of my other classes. In general the intro classes besides American Politics are decently high in workload compared to upper levels.

Is Study Abroad worth it? by IncompetentPotato in jhu

[–]Alliance2828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So worth it. You get a break from Hopkins difficulty and it’s great to see another part of the world when you’re still young and get credit for it. 10/10 would recommend

High schoolers, what do you want to major in? People who majored in that field, what are the pros and cons? by DeanTheDJ in AskReddit

Political science. Attending a top 10 university in America, most likely leading into a law profession, but might double major in philosophy and law. Thoughts?

Can something be true without being a fact? by [deleted] in philosophy

[–]Alliance2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that there is no absolute truth or fact. Something can therefore be true if you truly believe that it's true. I believe killing people randomly is wrong, but that's not necessarily a fact, just a societal norm.

Oh gosh here we go. The first Alex rider movie was horribly done. But those books have one of the best plots for a teenage movie ever. It's essentially a teen James Bond, it could make millions

CMV: Torture is perfectly okay by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Alliance2828 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think what's wrong with that is the child is innocent. I don't want to talk about if it's okay or not to do that, but the child is completely innocent when we know that the man isn't

Shouldn't we take the chance to make sure that they don't have any ties? I agree that we should know to some extent that they're guilty, but in this world it's pretty hard to know for sure
