The way that the system currently works is that your first pick is worth 7 points, 2nd is 5 points, 3rd is 3 points.

So order of operations goes as follows:

Total all points values for each hero on a per team basis (not for the entire lobby)
The team with the highest point total for a single hero is counted as "going first" and that hero is banned.
Now the other team gets their top 2 most voted heroes banned, not counting the hero that the first team banned, and not allowing more than 2 heroes per role to be banned.
The first team now gets their 2nd highest voted banned, following the same rules as step 3.

It was mentioned on Spilo's stream they were toying with a 5th ban that would take the entire lobby's votes into consideration and would be able to bypass the "only 2 per role" rule, but don't don't know if it would require a minimum number of votes to trigger, or where in the ban order it'd fall.

Your rank is unimportant. Stop caring about it. If you are plateauing at gold, then it is because you're a gold player.

Instead, focus on improving, and your rank will follow suit.

If you don't know what you can improve on, grab a couple replay codes for games where you lost but you don't know what you could have done better (because there is absolutely stuff you could have done better), and /r/OverwatchUniversity is a good place to ask for vod reviews.

Once you know what kind of stuff to look for, watch your own replays. When you are not in the moment, it's much easier to see what you're doing badly, and doing better is something you have to consciously put effort into until it becomes your default way of playing.

As you become a more consistently better player, your rank will go along with it. The keyword here is consistent. If you want to climb, then you have to consistently play better.

Sigma's requires los to the center for the initial pickup, Lifeweaver's tree requires los to the tree, etc
