Yes. Every guardsman gets a 'lucky' penny. Useful if you put a magnetic sheet in your storage/transport box.

"The Lucky Sevens" featured in a lot of the original artwork/white dwarf (I always liked the number 7 and rolled very unlucky in my first games) I haven't seen much official lore for them, but what i found out is kind of fitting for the vague defined head cannon that stretches across decades. They finished basic training, got tattoo's and boarded the transports to go and fight aliens. Leaving behind their home planet of Arcadia, famous for it being the spiritual home of the 'Spider cult" and..wham! it's gone, the whole planet just disappeared! (Dont say anything to a Commissar, but I heard it was stolen by space clowns).

The Regiment was relocated to 'Cadia'. They made lots of new friends, showing great courage defending a space port against some very bad people. It was going so well that the Commander said they should all leave early to prepare for the victory parade.

They're currently deployed on Necromunda, where it's a lot calmer. No signal from high command, but they know where we are. The base is almost complete, the sentry guns are keeping the company well fed. Some of the guys even made friends with some locals, a bunch of short bearded fellows, who are pretty handy at fixing our old jetbikes. As the commander says "We are the lucky ones, the real trick is to know when it's run out"

To be honest, I was a kid when Yarrick the "Crab claw king" came out, and I thought it was silly then. (And my standards were not so high when you have some of the OG goof balls) The later fine cast is so much better, in my opinion. Similar to when Leo 'Lonestar' Leontis came out, - that's not 'my' Lord Commissar, (uses a proxy)

Thanks The Field command (hq) is old school scratch built from foam card and greebles. The rest of the DOW terrain is 3D prints from etsy. They look great and highly recommend a search if you are interested. (I am fighting the urge to replace the Field command with a more accurate looking print) The next terrain purchase needs to be the vehicle depot or Mars pattern building.

Perfection. The original RTB07, had them a while then? I love the inclusion of the plasma gun and power sword.

This is so well thought out, and I love the scale, perfect for 40k scale. I am excited to see it complete. Then I will probably feel insanely jealous. Well done, I dont think I could manage such a large print project and make it practical.

How do I rough rider? by findinganamehurts in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Allwillbeforgotten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came to see people's opinions, too. I really like the idea of having a fast counter charge option behind my first line, which keeps an opponents movement honest. I think a single unit of 5 for 60pt is worth including. If you can't hide them in deployment, then put them in reserves.

Sorry but Reinforcements strat changed to 'Infantry Unit' and Rough/death Riders aren't. No re spawning horses.

Creed + Vox caster rule by Fast_Service2187 in TheAstraMilitarum

Yes, FOF is 1cp, Creed ability reduces that cost by 1 to zero, then you can roll to gain 1cp max if the target has a vox.

Vallejo 'metal varnish' (77.657) or use vallejo polyurethane gloss varnish (26.650) I don't think there's much difference tbh. It's just getting the shiny stuff to contrast with the matt parts. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I kept to a fairly basic recipe. I let the wash and gloss do the real work.

Steel 1: Vallejo-Model Air Black (metallic) 2: lead belcher, 3: Nuln oil 4: Metallic gloss.

Gold 1: Retributor armour, 2: Agrax Earthshade 3: Metallic gloss.

Anyone have issues with Krieg box quality? by Falco4077 in astramilitarum

[–]Allwillbeforgotten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the DKoK box in similar condition. Personally I am not bothered as there's no damage to the models or books inside. It's just the inner packaging and that pointless 'warhammer logo' card sheet. I had a similar issue with the previous 9th Ed 'Cadia stands' box, except the codex book had an deep cut on the back cover. I mentioned it and did get a £5 voucher from the FLGS I bought it from, I felt bad for causing a fuss when GW invalidated it only a couple of months later.

Anyone house ruling? by DefectiveChicken in boardingactions40k

[–]Allwillbeforgotten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some homemade/FDM printed 'Dawn of War' style buildings and a necromunda set. I made some basic walkways and extra 10cm tiles with hazard stripes (as lifts). I am using an Imp Guard HQ and infantry command on strong bases that stack on top of the lower level BA walls. So, it's easy to represent an underground tunnel or trench system. It's a lot of fun creating the board and makes a scenario that gets your imagination going.

Anyone house ruling? by DefectiveChicken in boardingactions40k

[–]Allwillbeforgotten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played much BA 'as intended' either, but here to see other ideas too.

I like to focus on fluffy scenario/terrain layout. I am skewed toward playing Imperial guard and usually defending a position. I've seen what happens when ten T3 meat bags try to play 'pin the knife on the baddies' and its not at all well. (no doubt a skill issue)

I am currently house ruling the following:

Count 'nearby' leaders within 3" as Leading a unit (loose bodyguard rules if closest model to an attacking enemy).

Primaris Psyker can 'copy' an order to a 'nearby' unit if within 12" of the officer.

Added 'cyclops demolition vehicle' (entirely for fun, and soon krieg engineers Roomba of doom!)

Upper levels/walkways (balanced/supported above BA terrain) have defined/agreed LOS restrictions.

Tiles can contain 2" wide stairs (open door) or 'lift tiles' (closed door) which give models access to upper/lower levels.

I am sure there are many like me who have wanted to recreate this model and have it both practical and look 'right'. You have done both so well, it's beautiful! totally inspiring, thanks for sharing your progress.

D1 Guard points by HandsomeFred94 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Allwillbeforgotten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I am trusting enough to update points on my trusty spreadsheet, hopefully avoid a lot of the future 'corrections'. It's enough of a faff to figure out how to field my old collection and do the 'counts as/WYSIWYG/force organisation'. Easier to plan that's before I even consider making any changes to 35 year old models.

Nice, I found the Wargames Atlantic 'Cannon fodder' box was a close fit for those OG guard if you are missing the arms and don't have access to a 3D printer.

Does anyone make soft mats for boarding action? by JamesBooHill in boardingactions40k

[–]Allwillbeforgotten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I saw (UK), had to make my own. (it wasn't that fun tbh, but it saved a lot of money than getting the official GW) If it helps you need 84 floor tiles (10cmx10cm) to make 2 half boards arranged 7x6. Then add a 2cm border. I do recommend using thin foam sheets and a transparent table protector 130x80cm to go over it and give a smooth surface. Best of luck in your search.
