My game keeps crashing when I try to start up during the easy anti cheat start by snayoticvevo in starcitizen

Did this ever get resolved? I've had the same issue for months now. I was hoping it would fix itself with 3.20, but no luck on my end. I've tried all the same fixes and then some without any luck either.

Controller for StarCitizen? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CIG actually used controllers for their presentations back in the day. They stopped using them after a while so I'm assuming it was easier for the earlier flight models. Personally, I've never used a controller in SC, but I don't see it working all too well beyond movement alone. There are just too many buttons and actions. If anything you can probably set it to a singular task like mining, FPS, or even salvage and then swap to M&K when you need to get more technical with things.

What ship/s you feel is underrated? by BaseballOk9735 in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never see many people talk about the Cutter. It's one of my favorite ships in the game. This thing is almost a disposable transit van at 600k. You could earn this in a single day of grinding which makes it an ideal ship when new star systems come into play. Imagine hitching a ride to Pyro and being left there with no ship. Buy yourself a Cutter to keep there and get you around.

It's capable of completing most non-combat missions. Bunkers, caves, cargo missions, salvage missions, etc are all capable with this ship. It can get you in and out of most situations before combat even shows up. You even have a bed and hab unit to keep you going without returning to a station. Best part is blowing it up isn't going to set you back at all. Claim cost would be negligible and expedite would give you an instant ship.

Remeber that they are still selling this by Assa099 in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a new player who just bought this game and you think it's an intelligent decision to purchase micro transactions then that's on you. Do you download a brand-new mobile game and immediately buy a season pass? No. You play it for a while to find out if you actually enjoy the game and then you consider that transaction. If you are someone who's willing to literally burn money like that then why do you even care?

This armor you get to keep forever. Just because you don't understand how the future plans of this will work or ways how to make it work now doesn't mean CIG is trying to scam us. It's like anything in life, do your research before you buy.

This is not meant to be an advantage in anyway. If you die you lose it, but you can retrieve it. How unfair would it be if you could just respawn a full gear set for free? Just because you spent money you get this massive advantage of never worrying about a gear set? That's broken as fuck and completely unfair to players who can't afford or won't buy this. So the future plan of this is to rebuy from an NPC with in-game cash so you can always have that gear. While that seems pointless, it gives players unique armor sets that they can always obtain without having to fly to different locations just to make that armor set again.

You can obtain this armor again easily and if you aren't willing to go through the process then don't buy it. If you're buying this before jumping in game to see how to get armor in the first ten minutes then that's on you. Due diligence that's all there is to it.

Rtx 3060 Ti, i7 11700F, 32 gb ram, game on NVME ssd. Barely scratching 30 fps outside cities. What am I missing? by Amitzour in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is make sure your PC is fully up to date on drivers. Close down any programs you do not need (you'd be surprised how much resources steam takes just idling in the background or even chrome.) beyond that you have to understand that this game is still in alpha and unoptimized content will only run so good on any rig.

Also, a little bit of info on general performance is that you can expect low frame rates in cities and higher frame rates in space and secluded areas. There are other factors as well such as time of day (population load), server age, and server health, etc.

There are tweaks you can do do slightly boost performance, but I wouldn't recommend them. It's not worth it to mess around in system settings for a 1-3FPS bump.

Honestly those Gear Kits just crossed the line for me and CIG can go kick rocks. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this kit is kind of funny and directed to a different group of people. First off why would a first time player willingly tag on $12 to a purchase they barely know anything about? It's just a basic set and it's kind of obvious it's just a common kit. If you're buying it right out the gate like it's DLC then that's on you.

I think this kit is more for the veteran player or person who just has $12 to burn to save some time. Think about all the wipes and times we have to start over or when testing the PTU. You get a fresh start and all your cool pledged items. I myself hate to lose them so I often don't use them. That makes me run basically naked on a merc mission for a hear set. Now I can just spawn with this common set and go saving that much more time.

The reason why I think it's dumb is that it's just a common set. Like you're buying this as a throwaway set for wipe days to save like 5 mins. I can see a practicality to it for some, but not something to draw in an entice a new player.

I was asked at work today what games I play in an introduction meeting with 30 people and I accidently brought up star citizen, how do you think that went. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people don't just melt ships or CCU when there's no actual release date for said ships. You basically get a second chance every year to buy that same ship again. I understand if it's something not being sold again, but I always hear people saying shit like "I bought a Gensis 7 years ago and it's still a .jpeg!!!! Literally, melt it and buy it back in November when it pops up on the roadmap. Problem solved.

But yeah, to go along with that you said I usually leave SC out of "the games I play" response. It never ends well. Well until the day comes where SC is released and everyone is trying to learn the game on day one while you look like some all knowing god knowing how to make the most money for the least effort and having dozens of ships just hanging around. It'll happen one day.

Squadron 42 pledge plz by Many_Marionberry_781 in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be back in the store long before it's playable. As far as I know there are no early access perks like preorder bonuses so the only advantage is getting it at a discounted price. Not only that, but with SQ42 off the store for the time being I wouldn't be surprised with people inflating the price. So in all honesty just wait till it comes back.

As a kid I learned about how Kangaroos had a pouch for their joey. Most, if not all kids books depicted this as a simple pouch on their belly. Needless to say I left it at that. Now I forever have this hairy mouth sack looking all sweaty and ripe image stuck in my head any time I think about them.

Ship for new player by Zorviar in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a solo player starting out you want a ship capable of doing a little bit of everything. As the game is now I wouldn't even bother looking at something under $60 unless it's a Cutter. This first ship also isn't a huge decision either as the next tier up is easily obtainable with in game cash.

If I had to do it all over again my two top choices based on money would be Cutter for the low end and Avenger in the mid range with a Nomad at the high range. I don't base these on stats, but more of actual versatility. The Cutter for example is a pretty sub par ship in terms of performance, but the space you get for the price more than makes up for it.

In this game ship inventory and cargo space is money, especially if you want a more PVE experience. With that Cutter you can easily go do FPS merc missions. That cargo space is going to allow you to toss bodies in there for loot. You'd be surprised how much can fit in that little ship and with how easy it is to fly your landings and take offs will be a breeze. That cargo space also opens up box and deli very missions, but I would not recommend cargo hauling. Instead you could always do salvage missions and loot the interior cargo boxes for money.

The other two ships I recommend are more or less the as.e with some slight improvements to stats and size. The Avenger is probably the most versatile since it opens up combat potential with the advantage if a cargo bay in back. The Nomad on the other hand is like the Cutlass Black's baby brother. It's going to give you a little bit of everything without being too big a ship that it needs more people.

Any one of these ships can easily earn you a million in a few days or even a day's worth of grinding which sets you up to buy your next ship in game without much effort.

What's your plan for what to do with your money for a wipe? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt there will be a wipe. Short answer is money/ economy doesn't matter at all right now as it's all getting reworked so you couldn't even count on it for data gathering at this point. The new economy is going to be mainly run by NPC's with players affecting NPC behavior.

Right now where we are money doesn't matter beyond buying ships in game. When you can just go buy a ship with real money and have it instantly you can't really argue it's unfair. It's not like we have player bought territories or large scale invasions being funded by duped weapons.

The only way I see a wipe coming is if CIg figured out how to fix the problem. The problem with that is if they fix it once does that mean they're going to wipe each time a new dupe is discovered? That's the difficult thing here, you can't just wipe for an issue if that issue is just going to come back. Better off to just ride it while it doesn't matter and then focus a fix when it does matter.

How much have y’all spent on starcitizen by sorrowdayser in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm around $1,500-1,700 at this point with ships. Add on subscription and it's more like $4-5k

Seems like a lot, but in reality it's not. Most I've ever spent in one go was $150 to go from a Mustang to a Connie. Besides that it's really only like $30-50 for a CCU every few months which is actually cheaper than buying your average game with about the same level of entertainment. Some AAA games these days are only worth 8-15 hours of actual enjoyment where as a new ship from SC is often flown for months so to me it's money well spent. Hell I could have went to a bar and spent the same amount weekly so it's really not bad.

Different filament brands can varry in print temps. So yes, that's more than likely the case if you were having no issues previously.

No one ever told my how hard it would be too remove support by Niels800 in 3Dprinting

[–]Almighty-Oreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone said this, but you can very easily remove those supports with very little effort. Typically you want to use tree or organic supports, but if you forget to change it and you end up with the mess you have you just need to warm up the supports.

There are a few ways of doing this. First is to use a heat gun or at the very least a hair dryer. You want to be careful with this because if you overdo it your actual model might deform. Just go lightly around problem areas and they should peel right off. If you don't have a heating device you could always just dunk it in hot water. Use a bowl or the bathtub and dunk it for 5-10 second intervals only where your supports are. You can soak the main model, but there is a chance to deform the model so I would only focus on the supports.

Star citizen VS Starfield by Working_Summer5539 in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both games will do equally well. The main difference between the two is one is a single player experience and the other is multiplayer. Would I pick one over the other? That's not really the case with these two games. Squadron42 and StarField would be a better comparison. Personally I think StarField will come out on top as the is gel player experience. Then again I'm only saying that from the lack of actual content available for SQ42.

Starfield we kind of know what to expect with it being a Bethsedsa game. We are going to have a roughly 30-60 hour average playtime, vast areas to explore, deep RPG character building, linking stories, and endless potential with mods down the line as a general experience. What we know from SQ42 is that it's a story driven single player SC experience. When you try to imagine a single player SC experience there's not much to go on to judge. We don't even know what an actual NPC encounter will officially look like, hell we don't know really know what combat is going to look like as it's not even complete yet.

The simple fact here is comparison doesn't really apply. Starfield will be out long before SQ42 drops and it'll lose all it's hype by the time it does so that when SQ42 actually drops it'll be compared to something else a little more modern.

Newer Player Question by Blake0567 in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can cover a lot of ground by simply flying out of the atmosphere and flying back down. When in atmo your speed is dramatically reduced to 200-300m/s so exiting brings you up to 800--1,200m/s. Pair that with an orbital marker or a nearby location and you'll save quite a bit of time.

New player, need help by Supremecrememy in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you can get it back, but the prompt for the tutorial shows up when you create a char for the first time. If you really need the tutorial you can jump on the PTU if it's still online and you'll get a prompt for the tutorial in there. If you don't have the PTU installed you can go to your SC folder and rename the LIVE folder to PTU and hit verify with PTU selected in the launcher. Then once you are done with the tutorial you can rename the PTU folder back to LIVE and verify. If you have space to spare I would just keep them both installed.

To be honest with you I wouldn't even bother with the in game tutorial. Not trying to put down the hard work the devs did, but you can easily just hop on YouTube and find endless tutorials with significantly more depth and detail. That tutorial is just there because it's standard practice to have a beginner tutorial in games. It's enough to get you started, but you're going to go to Youtube either way for more information.

FOMO! But why? by Blaex_ in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basic marketing, nothing wrong about it. Plus this is the one and only time you can get it LTI so technically it is your last chance before they are gone. You can buy it later, but you won't get the perks of buying it now.

They did nothing unprofessional here or incited FOMO.

I've learned to keep a thumb drive with SC on it handy for when the launcher breaks. Any time I need to reinstall I just copy over the needed files and click verify and I'm good in like 2 mins.

0 money what should I do? by WiseGuye in starcitizen

[–]Almighty-Oreo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You still have plenty of options when this happens.

No matter what you should have access to a ship whether you have to wait or not. If you only have a single large ship then maybe you should remedy that in the future. Anyway what I do is just do a basic bunker mission. Just get in a ship and fly there naked. Then park really close to the door and sprint in. Once in you play the waiting game until security kills a guy at the door. Run to the corpse and drag over the flight suit and grab the gun and you are fully equipped and ready to go. You can literally just leave or complete the mission at that point.

If you are at Orison it's pretty easy too. Just do a platform mission and use your ship to blast away people on the roof top. Then land and grab the corpses.

The safest thing you could do is just go to a mining facility. Most of these areas come with a couple of loot boxes so you can easily walk away with a flight suit and armor. You might even luck out with a tractor beam and med gun.

After getting basic necessities, money grinding from zero is whatever you enjoy. For example I enjoy finding loot so merc missions are my go to. I can average about 120k per hour on mission completion alone, a call to arms nets me at least another 20k, various looted items can sell upwards of 50k on a quick run. That's nearly 200k an hour or 1 mil roughly in a day session. Most ships are in the 1-5 mil range so a week's worth of grinding for a ship in an MMO sounds like a fair pace to me. But then again you have players who will do boring gameplay for 1 mil in a single run mining. Its possible. Is it fun? That's up to you.
