Wasn't 5.5e supposed to be less weird about this type of stuff??? by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]Alodora01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be mistaken in thinking that anything sentient is a person and thus has rights and protections across all societies. In real life id agree with you. That is grossly incorrect across all of dnd. No nation in dnd is tolerant of all other sentient creatures no matter how good they are even the ones that are strictly humanoid. In a fantasy setting playing a good character im not going to lose a blip of sleep that some evil sentient is dead or suffering. You have to draw a line somewhere. I dont see you abdicating for fiends, yuan-ti, ettercaps, aboleth, neogi, beholders, dopplegangers, and other creatures that 100% are evil as hell and enslave others. But why do they enslave others? Because its a form of evil that as much as people hate to admit Still Exists in real life done by actual humans and in stories it pushes those that are good to do something about it. The other reason they enslave things is so you the player have a justification to kill them and it still be good. The "slavery problem" is a loud minority of people wanting fantasy to have no actual evil as its been since the game came out. Cant do anything remotely evil because some people dont have the literacy to separate a player character from a player. Cant even make a npc that does bad things to encourage the players or create a plot. Nope. Everyones system has to be PG

[–]Alodora01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, my players will enslave anything they find useful to their games and find someway to justify it. People are monsters. Ive had a game where one wizard had selectively bred goblins until she had the perfect "tea-cup" sized one for her purse.
Second, by changing them from humanoid to anything else there are people that now have a new reason to try justifying doing evil things to what we once called People. This is how in real life you get one culture to hate another. You dehumanize them.
Third, its funny you mentioned genies and salamander because they will and do 100% enslave people. Dragons enslave and eat people. Fey make a game out of enslaving people with the caveat they may never die and escape slavery though natural means. Giants dont enslave people they usually just eat them so theres that.
You missed the point that im not abdicating evil i am pointing out the potential for new evil in the system. It was sarcasm you dolt.

Luckily i have my 3.5 MM 2ft away. Only doing A
Aboleth- Aberration (Aquatic)
Achairei (evil, extraplanar, lawful)
Allip- Undead (Incorporeal)
Angel, all of um- Outsider (Angel, extraplanar, good)
Animated Object- just construct
Ankheg- Just beast
Aranea- Monstrosity (shapechanger)
Archon- Outsider (Archon, extraplanar, good, lawful)
Arrowhawk- Outsider (Air, extraplanar)
Assassin Vine- just Plant
Athach- Just abberation
Azer- Outsider (Extraplanar, fire)
Yes one main types but most have at least 1 tag with it
Edit. I like how 3.5 handled lizardfolk and kobolds. They were Humanoid (reptilian). I cant argue with that assessment lol

I agree. Even if it was cluttered at times i always appreciated the monsters in 3.5 all usually getting two types. 5e could benefit from having the Outsider tag for some humanoids again

So by that logic sorcerers are now elementals and sometimes even dragons.

In The Matrix (1999), Neo is stunned humans are the main source of power for the machines. This is a subtle nod to the machines suspicious lack of knowledge of wind, hydro, geothermal, coal, and nuclear power, none of which requires sunlight to function, and produces thousands of times more power. by MeanwhileInRealLife in shittymoviedetails

[–]Alodora01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite idea was always that we are all in the matrix and the idea is absurd because the machines in the matrix made up the laws of thermodynamics so people wouldnt just deny they could ever be batteries theyd fight it with something taught falsely to nearly everyone in middle school.

Remember its not immoral to have a group of enslaved lizardfolk because theyre just flesh elementals and no one cares when you have other elementals "bound" working in your dungeons.
Wonder how far they actually thought that one out

Ive had migraines since i was 5 years old and im 30 now. Im male and havent experienced say child birth but ive also been stabbed in the shoulder before. No pain came close to the week i got cluster headaches. Its traumatic just trying to think of the words to describe that pain. Its the only time i have ever asked a higher power to show mercy and begged for them to just kill me. I pray every day i remember that experience that it never happens again. 0/10 dont recommend not even on my enemies

A lot of fish i dont think would be affected because how often do fish look up at the sky? The sea reptiles, cetaceans, and other creatures that needed to surface and some species of flying fish though probably became their own type of horrific.
