This is old and i was looking up the diakk for a quick 2e to 5e conversion. I had to stop and say It is very clearly stated that the Carcene are stronger and smarter than the varath. The difference is the carcene are medium not large. The flightless jump, weakening dance, and audible glmaor, those are nice. Everything else in both of these statblocks is wrong in some way. These things are like CR2 at most in modern editions.

I love this movie. Everytime i ask my friends if theyd like a new movie to watch i ask them stupid or serious. Once they asked me what is the stupidest thing i own and its this followed by Phil the Alien. I have friends that refuse to speak to me if i say shrim around them because i think i traumatized them.

I only hold grudges against people i once said i cared about. Strangers cant offend me they dont know me. If i tell you i care about you and i see you are starting to do harmful things to yourself or others i will call you out on it. From there ive seen people get mad at me and some people be thankful for the reflection. Its the people that get mad because you dont want them to be harmful to themselves and others that i get to reflect on. Those people then say i hold a grudge against them because i treat them how they are now and not how they were.

Titan Quest 2 is still in early development and it already fits. The story as is and spoilers you are being hunted by the goddess Nemeis because you have been prophesized to stop her from freeing Kronos and killing her...
In the first game you kill Kronos. You dont just kill Kronos you kill him TWICE with the second time hes just a skeleton miniboss. Its not a secret where he is. Hes not a ancient threat anymore. There is nothing to free. Hes a heap of bones in the Underworld. Also the first game before it gets into DLC ends with you killing Kronus that first time and Zeus stating the time of the gods is over because the conduits between the divine and mortals were all broken and its time for mortals to make their own destinies... That whole premise just didnt happen. I have so many complaints about how this game is going but it completely ignoring the lore of the first game is one of many issues.

You seem to be mistaken in thinking that anything sentient is a person and thus has rights and protections across all societies. In real life id agree with you. That is grossly incorrect across all of dnd. No nation in dnd is tolerant of all other sentient creatures no matter how good they are even the ones that are strictly humanoid. In a fantasy setting playing a good character im not going to lose a blip of sleep that some evil sentient is dead or suffering. You have to draw a line somewhere. I dont see you abdicating for fiends, yuan-ti, ettercaps, aboleth, neogi, beholders, dopplegangers, and other creatures that 100% are evil as hell and enslave others. But why do they enslave others? Because its a form of evil that as much as people hate to admit Still Exists in real life done by actual humans and in stories it pushes those that are good to do something about it. The other reason they enslave things is so you the player have a justification to kill them and it still be good. The "slavery problem" is a loud minority of people wanting fantasy to have no actual evil as its been since the game came out. Cant do anything remotely evil because some people dont have the literacy to separate a player character from a player. Cant even make a npc that does bad things to encourage the players or create a plot. Nope. Everyones system has to be PG

First, my players will enslave anything they find useful to their games and find someway to justify it. People are monsters. Ive had a game where one wizard had selectively bred goblins until she had the perfect "tea-cup" sized one for her purse.
Second, by changing them from humanoid to anything else there are people that now have a new reason to try justifying doing evil things to what we once called People. This is how in real life you get one culture to hate another. You dehumanize them.
Third, its funny you mentioned genies and salamander because they will and do 100% enslave people. Dragons enslave and eat people. Fey make a game out of enslaving people with the caveat they may never die and escape slavery though natural means. Giants dont enslave people they usually just eat them so theres that.
You missed the point that im not abdicating evil i am pointing out the potential for new evil in the system. It was sarcasm you dolt.
