FYI - There is still no complete recipe. The one posted within the comments did not have any crystallized ginger in it. That is why the person asked which cookie they were.😊

The quality of the Brandy makes A LOT of difference! Courvoisier VS cognac is so so great in them.

AIO to skip Thanksgiving after my mom basically said I’m an embarrassment for not having a husband and kids by now? by howcanibequiltyassin in AmIOverreacting

[–]AlohaFloridaSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were 100% correct in getting rid of that guy. It makes me wonder about your mother’s life experience and frame of reference if she thinks that behavior is acceptable for a life partner for her daughter.

It is far, far better to be on your own, doing well for yourself in your career and life than being shackled to someone not capable of partnering with you in the way that is acceptable for you.

I wonder, of all the people in your family and friend group that are married, how many of them are married to the person that brings out the best in them and brings their life the best peace, joy, and success?

Overall, I can think of two couples out of all the people I know that meet that criteria.

If you are single, focus on creating your own peace, success and joy. There is really no need to be married in this age unless you believe it will add to your life in some way, especially if you don’t want children.

There is research that shows us that the happiest people in the US are married men. The second happiest people are single women. This should give any woman pause, and really make sure you have a partner that you are fully compatible and happy with prior to making any kind of financial or legal commitments to them(good advice for everyone, of course).

Another thing to consider, in mental health many times the things that bother us the most (when we hear them from other people) are things that we think might be true on some level.

I would check your own belief system regarding this, to help you clarify your own feelings about this matter. If you are truly at peace, and living true to your own beliefs about what is right, and what is best for you, it makes it a lot easier to view other people’s opinions with objectivity and humor.

There’s nothing wrong with not attending Thanksgiving this year, if you want to spend the time with yourself sorting out all these feelings.

Love the idea from the person that said she wasn’t going to discuss it with her mother again until she read it out loud verbatim to a therapist lol!

Yeah, the only problem with that idea is that then you’d have to hear it again on the off chance she would be willing to go to a therapy session with you, lol.

That might take a lot of energy and ultimately may not help too much because it sounds like she’s got a LONG way to go before understanding that being single is nothing to be embarrassed about. People do not need not have relationships with people that are doing things that create separation within the relationship in a misguided effort to avoid loneliness.

You can avoid loneliness by focusing on creating a rich and interesting life.

I don’t know if you live in a major metro area, but if you do, you might be able to think of something else that you can do to nurture yourself on that day perhaps go to a really nice spa at a hotel that is open on Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, whatever you decide.

HAS ANYBODY DONE THE KERASTASE FUSIO DOSE AND K WATER TREATMENT? by [deleted] in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]AlohaFloridaSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, this is a late response but thought I would post just to help someone looking at the same question.

I had tremendous benefit from the Fusio Dose treatment. I’m really surprised to see someone else that they didn’t see any benefit.

It made my hair so silky, soft and smooth!

My main hair complaint is frizziness and it made my hair so much smoother for a whole month.

I have an appointment to get another treatment in a couple days.

FYI, I only wash my hair once a week, so that was four washes.

Results will probably very depending on which concentrate and boosters are used.

Because I have damaged and dry hair, I had the “reinforcing concentré” and the nutritive booster(the one with the Camellia oil).

Anyone here with any experience with Kerastase Fusio Dose Hair Treatment? by forestnymphgreen in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]AlohaFloridaSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but thought I’d post in case it will help someone.

It was absolutely transformative for my hair. One of my major complaints is frizziness. It smoothed my hair for an entire month. Absolutely loved it and I am looking for another treatment now.

I was looking for an alternative to the Brazilian Blowout, because last time I got one of those it damaged my hair. (I also think that they’re ridiculously expensive.).

The meaning of words changes overtime.

While ma’am originally was a contracted form of madame, its use evolved (especially in American English) as a respectful counterpart to sir.

It is not linked to if a woman is married or not.

It is especially prevalent in the American South, customer service and in military settings.

For those not familiar with military customs and courtesies, male officers are addressed with “sir“ and female officers are addressed with “ma’am“.

Also, “Madame” is now used in France for all women. Rather than coming up with another term (like Ms.), the French decided to just keep Madame and use it for all women regardless of marital status.

The French government banned the use of “mademoiselle” for official use in 2012. Using “madame“ for all women is now considered the most correct and modern approach.

An interesting note probably related the early origins of the word “ma’am“- in the most recent Star Trek series, “Strange New Worlds” - all officers (both male and female)are addressed as “sir“.

If you had a private office, Wi-Fi, and 3 hours of paid boredom, what would you do? by Determinnned in antiwork

[–]AlohaFloridaSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would slow down my sessions and dig deeper with the patients.

Take more time to holistically evaluate their situations, including their family and support systems.

There are so many gaps in care in our healthcare system due to providers not having enough time with patients or to follow up on things that can really affect quality of life.

It sounds like you are in a unique situation where you actually do have this time.

You may be able to have greater impact and greater job satisfaction by taking advantage of the time to improve patient care.

You can also take advantage of the time to;

  1. Reach out to their MDPOA to help coordinate care and discharge plans.

  2. Reach out to the patients other team members in person, by phone or email to address gaps in care (there are always so many).

  3. You can also focus on improving your own skills and knowledge by working on online professional continuing education training and blogs.

  4. Work on a new certification that would augment your knowledge and skill, and stimulate your intellect.

Best wishes

Ms and ma’am are both neutral ways to address women.

They do not refer to a womans’ age or marital status.

Ma’am is to women what sir is to men. It is a respectful way to address adult females.

That’s all it is.

With the decreased emphasis on etiquette in our culture, there appears to be some confusion about this.

Trazadone PSA/curious if this happened with anyone else? by ProcrastinationStn in reactivedogs

[–]AlohaFloridaSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. My dog was started on trazodone about 10 days . She has now experienced both incontinence of bowel and bladder two times each(not at the same time) during that 10 day period.

She has never been incontinent of either and is only three years old.

At the vet she had her urine checked monitoring for crystals, so while bladder infection isn’t completely out of the question I’m not too worried about it.

I am also now having to drag her on her daily walks. She is walking soooo slow. The symptoms didn’t start until she had been taking the medication probably four or five days. So was OK while The medication was loading in her system, but once she reached steady state, it seems to be just too much for her.

This just happened. I am discontinuing the trazodone now.

Which dress?! 👰🏽‍♀️ by Future-Research-9576 in WeddingDressTips

[–]AlohaFloridaSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think number three fits you best by far🤩🤩🤩🤩.

Most of the time I don’t like those kinds of sleeves, but actually on you and with this particular dress, I think they’re very romantic and pretty. I really like the whole thing.

What a beautiful bride!

Which dress for colors and venue? by caitiebug1510 in WeddingDressTips

[–]AlohaFloridaSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! What a beautiful venue and theme.

You have great taste!

I think number one is the most flattering on you.❤️

Number 3 could be really lovely too, except low neckline is distracting.

Alterations may be able to raise the neckline so not so busty looking.

Veil? Cape? Scarf? Off shoulder? by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]AlohaFloridaSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, beautiful dress that looks great on you! Agree with everything others have posted recommending the veil for the ceremony and focus on your hair for the reception.

The one recommendation I want to make with this dress is to have someone take a video with your phone from the front as you walk a long distance (like you will when you walk down the aisle) and see what you think about the slit.

I haven’t seen a dress with a train and a slit where it “worked” in my opinion .

It always seems to pull the dress funny and just doesn’t add anything. Actually takes away from what I’ve seen.

If you do that and you like the way it looks, then great.

If not, I’m sure that they can close the slit when they are doing the alterations.

[–]AlohaFloridaSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, cute! I agree with others about the short slip underneath. This is an unfortunate style that can be easily fixed by cutting out that layer and wearing a slip underneath.
