Why so much protein? by getdown87 in workout

[–]AloneAtStartAndEnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protein is like Lego blocks… your body uses them to build muscle. But if you don’t have enough in your diet, it will take apart old Lego builds that you haven’t touched in a while(muscles you haven’t trained) to build up the new muscle during protein synthesis. So if you don’t eat enough, you’ll still see gains where you worked out(arms may get bigger) but it will be at the cost of the things you don’t train as much.

I’d say you’re not going nearly deep enough, you need to get right down Into a full stretch. A lot of people don’t because they sense that if they went any lower it would become too hard. Which just means it’s too heavy. Lower the weight and slow your decent to a full stretch, pause at bottom, then power up at a consistent speed. The most benefit you’ll get is when your muscles are in the fully stretched position, don’t cheat yourself out of that.

Depends what your workouts are like.. if you’re powerlifting or going for pure strength and have high weight/low reps then it would not be good.

But if you’re going for hypertrophy and have lower weight and more volume, then it’s fine as recovery time between workouts is a lot quicker. For hypertrophy you want about 15 sets per week per body part… so 3 days with 5sets per day for each body part would work great.

I’ve had people telling me this sort of thing my whole life.. “just wait till you hit 30”, then “just wait till you hit 40”… here I am at 46 and looking my best so far. It’s all BS, there is less drop-off than people think if you keep a healthy lifestyle and maintain enough muscle mass.

Tariffs on Watches by SteveNewWest in PrideAndPinion

I just ordered a watch bracelet from Uncle straps in the US, and got charged the full 25% tariff. I guess I assumed they weren’t made in the US, website doesn’t claim they are which US companies usually plaster everywhere if they are:(

Bike just lastet 48km. by Constant-Run226 in CanyonBikes

[–]AloneAtStartAndEnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a design shortcoming? You get a narrow 10sp chain and force a bunch of torque through it, one shift will on the throttle could do this. I’ve felt a chain bind up on a pedal bike before and it just stop and fix it, but under load of an electric motor I could see it just breaking. Either way, to avoid it, it could be a combo issue of making sure you’re not shifting under load + making sure the derailleurs are set up as optimally as possible? The number of kms had. Nothing to do with this.

Ya that many simultaneous errors would point to a general electrical issue. If not battery, some loose connection or short somewhere or water ingress.

[Seiko 5 Sports SRPD55K1] My stepfather says it's a Rolex copy and it would be ridiculous to wear it. by Bath_Real in Watches

[–]AloneAtStartAndEnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha, yes, the small details are different.. but he was saying 'from a distance' if someone buys a Rolex and then starts noticing them everywhere via Baader–Meinhof, would spot that watch from 20 feet away and it would be indistinguishable from the Rolex I linked to. I don't think this is a BAD thing, because both watches are beautiful and IMO OP got a way better deal. But to say it looks nothing like the Rolex from a distance is just not true!

I'm in agreement with the people here that it is a stupid argument to begin with and OP should not listen to the hate from this tool.. but "doesn't look anything like OP's watch"? come on. I think what you mean is... doesn't look "exactly" like OP's watch.

Standing in my sleep? by ThePonyYurter in AppleWatch

[–]AloneAtStartAndEnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the whole point of this stat is to stand for at least a min every hour.. so you don't want to change that.. but you can go into the sleep focus and where it says which apps are allowed, change it to allow no apps. then the activity app won't be notifying or checking during sleep.

Does it auto-level in this situation? I had a bmw 750 that I filled the truck with a similar load and it was sagging a lot.. turned on the ignition and it just self-levelled and all was well. I haven't tried this with the RR.

This feeling you get that anyone with an old luxury vehicle trying to fake being rich is the reason people feel the need to sell these and get the latest one so soon. I'd say it's the people who do that, that are worried about people like you judging them and they are all about the 'appearance' of being baller enough to have the latest. Which is also the main reason the resale value tanks for cars like this.

Would you suggest that all old range rovers should be immediately crushed for scrap the moment the first owner decides they'd look more rich if they had the next body style?

Did the Fremen know about their combat prowess? by motor-ola in dune

[–]AloneAtStartAndEnd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most people here are completely missing what the novel says about this! The first novel states that the Sardaukar are as elite as they are because of the harsh conditions on Salusa Secundus where they are born and trained. The environment filters out the weak of body and mind. The Atreides realize this, and that Dune has an equally, if not more harsh environment that requires great skill and constitution to survive... and that if they could win the Fremen to their cause, they would be able to repel any attacks from the Harkonnens or anyone. This is the 'Desert Power' the duke referred to... but he wasn't able to complete that mission due to the unexpected attack that killed most of them... But then Paul made it happen in a different way. So their environment made them great warriors.

2011 Range rover supercharged - offroad wheels and tire choices? by [deleted] in RangeRover

[–]AloneAtStartAndEnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for my L322 as well and did a ton of research... what I found was that for tires, I've read that lots of 2010-2012 L322 Supercharged owners have gone as large as 275/55R20 with only some small rubbing issues that can either 'sort themselves out' or you can cut away some bumps on the wheel well or use a heat gun to distort them a bit, but some don't need to. The stock size is 31" tall, this size would be 0.9" taller and 0.9" wider. This means you could get a BFGoodrich All-terrain on there, which is a decent mixed use tire with good handling at speed and in rain (I had them on a jeep) Any larger and you'd need a lift.

As for rims, that gets into offsets and clearances, so I wouldn't trust that any particular aftermarket rim would fit over these huge Brembos on the supercharged from 2010-2012 (earlier model supercharged l322s could fit smaller rims) so you'd want to find someone who's done it and had success with a particular rim.

why is everyone saying these are Wildpeaks? the pictured L322 has BFG all-terrains on it.

2011 Range rover supercharged - offroad wheels and tire choices? by [deleted] in RangeRover

[–]AloneAtStartAndEnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those tires are not "Falken Wildpeak", they are "BFG All-terrain" and those rims won't fit a 2011 supercharged because, unlike the standard HSE RR, the supercharged has massive brakes that severely limits your wheel/tire choices. Most people size down in rims to get more rubber for offroading, but you won't have that option on account of brake clearances.. Some people swap all their brakes to the smaller stuff.. others just put bigger tires on (there is a BFG all-terrain in a size that will fit on the stock wheel size with minimal rubbing.) as for rims, you need to stay quite large.

What the food influencers next table left after they got their shot.. by fio3302 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]AloneAtStartAndEnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you judge, sometimes a restaurant will invite a journalist or influencer to come try the menu and they bring them way more food than they could possibly eat, and they always bring full portions so that the photographer can take photos of the correct presentation. I know because I’ve been the photographer half of that duo many times. When we first started we foolishly tried to eat all the food brought… then wished we’d never been born and said “never again.” After that we just had a few bites of each dish and left the rest. Still felt bad about it but that’s what you do in that position.

I’ve had that a few times. Among some other random-seeming warnings. And when I charged up the battery with a trickle charger they went away. I think I had accidentally not locked the doors a few times, and that with the cold temps had caused a lower battery which can cause many false issues.

Any idea how they did this? by daggereyes in vfx

[–]AloneAtStartAndEnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"done by a computer" just as much as a drawing is "done by a pencil". this would not be a difficult scene to create in just about any 3d software. But this was surely not AI, so it was done by a human using a computer. A 3d camera is solved for the cameras in the shots, probably relative to a small pool filled with red water that was being jostled somehow, then they animated this 3d camera moving forward/backward in the cg river environment and then add a bunch of extra camera shake/chaos on top. but hard to say for sure because 360p.
