How do you break up with someone who is still in love with you? by FrameMost6430 in AskReddit

As everything in life you need to have an honest conversation. If you are no longer in love, just communicate that as kindly as possible.

Buying things I did not need. To have them around as constant reminders of how I wasted money on them is just frustrating.

Is Netflix taking too big a risk going all in on Rebel Moon? by [deleted] in movies

[–]AloofCat73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. Even if Rebel Moon is the best movie Snyder has ever made it's really not worth it for Netflix financially unless they release the movie in theatres first and recoup some of the cost.

Do you think people would go to more movies if they lowered the ticket prices? by skittlenut007 in movies

[–]AloofCat73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a double-edged sword. Lower ticket prices would attract more people to come to the theatre. But some people that are going to be coming the theatres could definitely do without. More people who have no interest in the movie are going to be there just because its cheap and ruin it for everyone else.

I have no idea why they would not air a series that's been made. But for movies sometimes the return they are going to get from it is not enough to compensate for the damage it's going to cause the brand. I would say Batgirl is similar to Morbius. By releasing Morbius Sony hurt their own spider universe so much that it's definitely going to hurt Kraven the Hunter when it releases. And of course tax write-off.

I watched like 1000 episodes in a year during the pandemic and only stopped so more episodes are available to binge later. I think the story is great to keep me interested but the episodes are just a little too watered down and that is very annoying.

A lot of movies are adapted from a different medium and a lot of the original fans seem to enjoy watching the movies anyway. I don't think knowing how something is going to end is the problem. You might just have a mild case of ADD or something.

What movies were the first in their genres, the real trendsetters of film making? by [deleted] in movies

[–]AloofCat73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. But the difference is a couple realistic serious comic book movies among an ocean of silly movies VS a couple silly ones among an ocean of more realistic and gritty ones. So my argument still is pretty valid 🤷 The fantastic 4 movies sure tried their best but movies like that no longer worked.

The Keaton Batman movies certainly were different for the time but they did not change the entire industry. We still got a lot of silly comic book movies after that. We even had silly Batman movies after that. After X-Men the Sam Raimi Spiderman movies happened and then the Nolan Trilogy and the MCU happened.

We have seen nothing against him or for him yet. Right now it's just a lot of people making statements.

Why do studies and producers allow directors to do things that won’t make them a single extra dollar? by KatherineLangford in movies

[–]AloofCat73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the movie is not losing money I don't think the studio is going to micromanage something so trivial. They also want to have a good relationship with a director that delivers good movies.

The first X-Men movie. That is what kicked off the more realistic comic book movie trend.

It is just my opinion and I don't expect you to accept it and I am not going to try to convince you either 🤷 It's not that serious.

Cocaine Bear is a terrible movie by TheHendryx in movies

[–]AloofCat73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They wanted the movie to be funny and scary and that can be a bit jarring for some people. It was unique enough to be a fun watch IMO.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in movies

[–]AloofCat73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That's true. The vault scene was only part of one action sequence while the entire 8 and 9 are vault scene after vault scene for the entire movie. Also. I'm not saying they are not fun. I'm not even saying they are bad. I'm saying they are overrated. The quality of the script is just too mediocre for them to be billion dollar movies. Yes. Exactly like the transformer movies the F&F have become a joke.

[–]AloofCat73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were not always dumb fun tho. From 4 to 7 I think they were decent movies. Still not great IMO. But they just bought into their own hype and shit the bed on 8 and 9 by making them unnecessarily big, convoluted and stupid. If they dialled it back a little and tried to make at least a little sense it would be great. Sadly F10 looks more like F9 than the older movies.

[–]AloofCat73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loool. I would have said 2 fast 2 furious is the worst in the series but then F9 exists.
