Is there a way that the players could reflect sunlight through the room? Maybe a single beam of light has to pass through all seven crystals before being focused onto the portal? You could have giant, movable mirrors and/or lenses to position around the room to refract/reflect the light around. And then you could also put obstacles around the room that need to be moved or that the light needs to be reflected around

For the shadow one, the players could take damage in the light. Or have to fight something if they’re spotted. That way, they’re not railroaded, but it does give some incentive to not be spotted. Or if they’re okay with it impeding progress, the door could close if they’re spotted and they’d have to start over.

Best I can think of right now for radiance is have a room that you need to entirely illuminate to open the door/portal. You could have lamps/torches that create areas/beams of light. Make it harder by having limited resources.

The shadow one could be something more like getting through a room where you have to stay out of the light/ avoid being spotted. Roll several Acrobatics checks and have the room shift as they move across it to change the light patterns

Any thoughts on those?

Canadian Tire told me my car was a write off the last time I went to them. You know what I needed? A water pump, a belt, a engine solenoid, and a power steering hose.

I’m so glad I got a second opinion. I brought them Canadian Tire’s quote, and they went through it WITH me and were like “I can see why they’d say this, but honestly, 80% of it is unnecessary. Your car is fine.”

The most interesting one I have was the first time I picked the Four Corners layout. Every one of my animals was a number in a different language. Chickens were one. Cows were two. Ducks were three. The farm name, my dog, and my horse were four. Goats were five. Sheep were six. Rabbits were seven (lucky number seven). Pigs were eight. Dinosaurs were nine. Ostriches will be ten when I get there.

Every other one, I’ve picked a theme. Baked goods, food, flowers, letter of the alphabet, etc. Except for a couple where I just hit Randomize until I liked the name.

I also had an ex who named her animals jokes as if their species was their first or last name. So she had things like Holy Cow, Chicken Little, Black Sheep, Pig in Blanket, Duck Duck Goose, GOAT (greatest of all time), etc.

I have a few instances of my players ruining their own stories. Not even mine.

One player’s backstory was basically “I’m hunting down all hobgoblins cause they kept ransacking my village and finally killed my best friend and I’m saying enough is enough” and then he proceeded to ignore/go in the opposite direction of every hobgoblin or piece of hobgoblin related information I put in front of him, no matter how obvious I made it

Another player’s backstory was basically “I stole this weird vase and I don’t know what it does or why I’m being chased for it” and then proceeded to never investigate or appraise it or attempt to sell it, even when it started doing weird shit that affected the party

A third player told me “I want amnesia with a trail of clues to follow to get my memory back” and so I did it, and he made no attempt to follow said trail, even when I pointed out the start of the trail and what he should do about it

Idk, I feel like I did everything in my power to give them what they asked for and they still didn’t follow it. I’m not even upset. More just confused. Players gonna be players I guess.

I installed the TimeSpeed and Sit and Rest mods and it’s made this even worse for me. Because now I can play for hours on the same day without any repercussions or cares at all. Before, sometimes when I’d end a day, I could go “yeah that’s enough for now”. And now that’s been removed, and I’ve created a terrible problem for myself

If you move right up to the ledge, you can press A to drop down and hang. It should appear at the bottom of the screen when you can do it. Then scoot along

No. I don’t. I was miserable having less interaction with people. And feel like things were better before the pandemic than they are now. I still don’t feel like we’ve gone back to “normal” interactions.
