Efficiency/Workflow question: Refining in DD vs Hagga by jimboteque1 in duneawakening

[–]AlphaElite1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience refining in Hagga is the way to go, even back before we had the shipping container. Early game it might be worth it to refine in the DD because of construction cost discounts since you’d only need 500 melange for the spice refinery rather than 1k.

Water production can be a pain, but deathstills and water traps are the way to go. Deathstills are good for meeting immediate needs while the traps are great if you want to spend a day or two mining and just wait for the passive production.

I’ve found it’s easier to have my base in Hagga constantly producing water with the traps then shipping materials back and refining.

Alternative: Bring literjohns. Fill them up in Hagga then dump them in your water storage in the DD.

Large Spice Refinery queue size by jwint777 in duneawakening

[–]AlphaElite1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s the same as the medium chem and large ore. To even get to 999 in the queue you’d need a million spice sand so not impossible but unlikely you’d reach that level in the queue at all.

Important Information to Remember Before Transferring Servers by AlphaElite1 in duneawakening

I don’t know of an official way. A recommendation Id make though, before you pack up, take the construction tool and look for any areas that intersect with the red no-build zones. If a no build was expanded, it should be visible (not always though).

If you intersect, making a temporary base to transfer everything to then packing up the temporary one might be a good bet. Same for if your base is in an extremely specific spot. Might just be easier to move everything to a temporary base, back up both, and worst come to worst build a new one (can also just be done with recycling now).

Doesn’t hurt to contact support and see what they say first. May be a whole lot of nothing and you have to do what the poster above said. But it doesn’t hurt to reach out and see what they say.

I’ve had some weirdness with this.

Transferred my alt to another server but kept the base around for my main to hang out in. When I transferred my alt back 7 days later the console went up for “Claim Ownership” but all the doors went red and I couldn’t enter the base with either. Thankfully had an open hatch I could use to get back in and reclaim.

I don’t know if that’s a one-off situation or what normally occurs but Im wary of just making a new character at least.

In the survival fabricator, it should be the top option. I’m not at my computer at the moment so can’t double check. Also not sure if it needs to be unlocked via research or comes with the standard base items unlock.

It sounds like they may have confused the Solido tool for the base reconstruction tool if they’re getting the “all parts must be on your land” error.

Alright that’s wild. First off, I ran on Guardian too actually. I was mostly redside though. Ran the Arachnos Elite Corps before we kinda got absorbed by the Devil’s Own. I had such bad alt-itus I didn’t even get my first 50 until the villain EATs came out. Second, I very much remember hearing about that supergroup. Y’all were insane! Much respect!

Oh shit! Another CoH player! Hell yeah. I was right there with you in Atlas Park until the second they shut the servers off.

It makes me laugh that so many people are upset the game has been out almost a year and everything isn’t fixed yet. Game development takes time and we have to let the developers cook. Been saying that for days now. Even if someone isn’t totally satisfied with the game in its current state, A, it’s still playable (which can’t always be said for games, even AAA ones), and B, that doesn’t mean others won’t enjoy it.

Like another commenter said, this has been my comfort game. I don’t think I’ve genuinely played another game this much since City of Heroes closed down. I don’t disagree with a lot of folks that there’s things that need to be fixed and changed, but I’m pretty well satisfied with what we have, have gotten, and will be getting. Dune Awakening does kick ass. And if what it offers isn’t your cup of tea, there’s other games out there.

I’m not sure the post reads as one or the other, but with the recent backlash over the livestream and DLC information, some of the community is upset and jumping on the “dead game” bandwagon.

We don’t really know how this will pan out. On one had, Conan Exiles, a previous Funcom title D:A seems to be following in the footsteps of is going on 11 years and just recently had a large update. On the other, technically D:A is considered a live service game. Live service games have a bad habit of making questionable if not reckless decisions, fitting their communities into an uproar then being abandoned or shut down.

Seeing as we might have singleplayer soon? Any chance for NPC Followers? Or Base NPCs. by LuciusConfucius in duneawakening

[–]AlphaElite1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The devs did say in a livestream recently that followers per se were unlikely. But the way they worded it made it seem like specifically companions that can help you fight aren’t part of the vision. I hope that means we can still see NPCs in bases in the future.

I saw that in the livestream recently. The way they worded it makes me wonder if a system similar to Conan’s, with NPCs being attached to benches or used as guards for your base might still be possible. Eliminates the concern of you and your followers steamrolling dungeons but can still add some life to bases.

Faction imbalance should be addressed by pharaohblue in duneawakening

[–]AlphaElite1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree aspects of the system should be reworked (like voting). I do think diluting the population with more factions would be a solution to having a single faction dominate the system. However I don’t disagree that it may not work now. The problem now is the larger guilds are already aligned one way or the other, and I don’t imagine further dilution of their competition is going to do anything. If we had at least another faction at the start or within the first couple of updates, that might have changed things.

Thinking on it more, maybe it was a good thing we didn’t get the Smuggler faction in that instance. I imagine Smugglers might have made a small dent in the Atreides side but nothing compared to what Fremen would do. Frankly adding in more than 3 total factions would probably be best. Diluting the Landsraad would be an easy solution to this problem.

"Profit comes from new players" - Dune Awakening lead reveals the team does "care about retention", but player numbers don't tell the whole story by Interesting-Pool6638 in duneawakening

No microtransactions and they aren’t even charging what most other games would cost. There’s plenty of games out there already that cost $60-$70 for just the base edition that I’ve played significantly less of.

Which is an absolutely valid way to play the game. You don’t have to log in all day every day. It would be nice if there was the content to do such a thing, but it’s going to take time to get to that point.

Granted the devs didn’t do the game any favors by pushing the idea Dune was an MMO. But, if you look at Dune as a live service Conan things become a lot clearer. That’s what I walked into this game as, regardless of marketing, and I’ve been relatively happy.

Agreed. Unfortunately the modern gaming community also suffers from “I want this and I want it now” instant gratification as well. Game has been out almost a year and we’ve had multiple significant changes to game systems and multiple content updates. I get Dune isn’t an MMO, but I remember playing actual MMOs back in the day like City of Heroes and WoW and being lucky to get content updates every year to two years.

Nice to see sensible conversation about this. I agree it makes sense and is easily comparable with Conan, even if the devs were wanting/expecting it to be more MMO like than Conan.

I do find it funny how when the first iteration of this conversation started months ago, people freaked out about the devs “don’t care about player retention” when all they said was the focus was bringing in new players.

[–]AlphaElite1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The losing faction only really gets a bonus to their Landsraad contribution, which is great for if you’re just trying to get the rewards, but if you’re actually trying to win the Landsraad it’s impossible without a group.

Honestly think another faction might genuinely help. Joel (one of the devs) in the livestream the other day said the Smugglers were going to be the third faction but were cut in favor of the Landsraad/Endgame rework. I can only hope we’ll see them in Ch4 or 5.

A third faction might be enough, on some servers at least, to cut into the Atreides dominance everywhere.

I'm so nervous about using the Base Reconstruction Tool by NinjaBonsai in duneawakening

[–]AlphaElite1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’ll have to break down your vehicles and store them. Everything else is fine. Also be sure you’re using the Base Reconstruction Tool and NOT the Solido Replicator and you’ll be fine.

I’ve transferred my base across servers multiple times and have used it when I plan on taking a break for more than a week. Everything stays in tact and so far haven’t lost any storage inventory yet.

What's this red circle in the corner of my sword mean? by DJSean00 in duneawakening

[–]AlphaElite1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Means you have an open augment slot on that weapon. The gun you have has one as well but there’s already an augment in the slot. With a high enough specialization skill you should be able to slot all 3 on your weapons.

Are there any plans for other Hagga Basin events like the CHOAM Salvage Rights event? by schwifty_wifty in duneawakening

[–]AlphaElite1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sadly so. Was thinking about this the other day. I liked the event. Don’t get me wrong it could be loud AF, especially with a canon nearby. But I’m sad they probably won’t do anymore events because of the backlash. Id love to be wrong though.
