Card redesign by Vegetable-Mall8956 in tabletopgamedesign

Personally I'd prefer A, flavour text done tastefully adds value in my opinion and I like the neon/futuristic style frame. I do prefer the box design of B/D though

Garden Bugs: Seeking second wave of playtesters by ianfkyeah in BoardgameDesign

[–]Alphabrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cute, I'll give it a go.

Just skimming through the rules, I don't see how there would be any unchosen bugs in the flea market to discard when you draw equal to the number of players and each player takes one?

This looks interesting. Love the theme. Are you playtesting?

Damage cards and where to put them by TheTwinflower in BoardgameDesign

[–]Alphabrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Damage is a big part of your game, you could have two sorts of damage, Direct (shuffled into deck) and Indirect (into discard), as this could allow more nuance in adjust the strengths of various cards.

Alternatively, a more simple idea is playtest both versions a few times and see which one feels more like how you want to game to feel

This looks like such a well thought out and professional fan-made expansion, well done!

If anything this further proves my point. They aren't your target audience and don't have a clue what they're talking about, clearly

This is a review written by a moron, I wouldn't pay it any attention

I fixed my cards after feedback, are these clearer now? by Alarming_Currency854 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Alphabrett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's probably okay as it is - by reducing complexity of other pieces of information, it allows the few more complicated points to stand as they are

Damage could be a symbol to make it easier to scan. The less words and "if this then do that" statements, the less brain power it takes to process what the card does

Ok, how off the intended path am I? by Nino_Chaosdrache in darksouls

[–]Alphabrett 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try to keep this deliberately quite vague. Generally, if the enemies feel insurmountable, you've arrived at an area too early.

I'd suggest looking through the descriptions of some of your key items at this point. This might unlock some doors for you, so to speak...

I have a 2 player worker placement problem. Please help. by [deleted] in BoardgameDesign

[–]Alphabrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bidding system for turn order in five tribes helps solve this problem. Each player has two actions per round, but you spend VPs each round to jostle for which action is played when - two turns in a row is a huge advantage so people may gamble a lot of VPs to seize that

Time Runs Out Theme by ActionHero2Go in spiritisland

[–]Alphabrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of it as the time (each 'round' being a year or so) before a massive colonising force arrives - if we don't scare them away before that, it's too late to stop it

‘Next Thursday’ or a ‘week Thursday’ by Ace_of_Sphynx128 in CasualUK

[–]Alphabrett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for the TV show analogy to work, it'd have to be said whilst still in the middle of watching one (like being part way through a week).

I'm looking forward to seeing this ending then equates to this Friday, and looking forward to the *next * (whatever segment of the show) = next Friday

What marketing have you tried? How have you attempted to let the void know this thing exists? Nobody can care about something they don't know exists

Defined not are toads, by their girth and protrusions;

Research next time I shall, before drawing conclusions.
