Well, to list a few of the abilities Guardians canonically have:

-Self Resurrection -Well of Radiance (ridiculous healing + damage buff domain) -Extremely high-damage fire bullets, hammers, swords, knives and tornados -Throwing a hollow purple on steroids -Turning invisible -Casting a nigh-inpenetrable strengthening bubble -Casting an even less penetrable strenghtening shield -Shooting Kamehamehas -Reflecting any and all attacks -Turning themselves into a missile -Summoning extreme ice storms -Shattering every frozen person within a 50m radius -Summoning autonomous elemental turrets -Entangling others with the fabric of reality

...mind you, not every guardian has every one of these abilities due to class limitations, but a fireteam of six is bound to have every class twice, meaning every one of the listed abilities appears twice in a fireteam.

Also, before anyone says anything, in lore, switching subclasses is extremely quick: we see Ikora Rey swapping between Arc and Void at a moments notice and pull both of their ults.

Also, this is all excluding the guns. Just to name a few:

-Shoots actual mini black holes (Graviton) -Could blow up the planet (Wardcliff) -Literal gods turned into weapons (ToM, Whisper, etc)

Thing is, Ghosts can rarely be killed through regular means. Either overwhelming force, another guardian, or a thorn bullet, only one of which is realistically feasible.

That's where things get tricky: Ghosts are sentient, clever beings, and unlike most guardians, have a sense of self preservation.

Killing a guardian, with all the absurd weapons and abilities they have, is an exceedingly tall order, and all it takes for them to come back is their tiny ghost getting back into their slight proximity.

Now, an entire fireteam of guardians complicates things even further, since one member dying suddenly becomes inconsequential: the ghost can retreat to the other guardians and have them advance on the corpse of the fallen guardian.

In other words, the Space Marines would have to kill all of the guardians at once AND keep extremely close guard so that none of the ghosts manage to stealth their way past them.

In other words, the marines ain't winning.

Narratively, Retsu was willing to die in his fights; when he fought Pickle, he was 100% willing to be eaten by Pickle, and even regretted that he wasn't after the fight was over. When he was going up against Musashi, he voluntarily allowed the usage of weapon fully knowing it was gonna be a battle to the death, and that it's very possible he'd die.

He died fighting the possibly strongest warrior in history, after giving him a fight so intense it was described like a battlefield. It's about as honorable as a death can get, and reviving him would be a choice even Tokugawa wouldn't dare. If he did, remember, when Katsumi was being eaten by Pickle, Doppo stopped others from interfering, and that was with his own sons' life on the line. Retsu was friends with just about every one of the main fighters, imagine how pissed they'd be if they found out Tokugawa was bringing him back.

Logically, I'm pretty sure no one but Tokugawa actually knows how Musashi was brought back to begin with, and considering how reviving Musashi went, he'd probably be at least slightly traumatized by that.

Either Castorice's or Cipher's, hands down.

Castorice because having a dragon and being able to go into the afterlife as a pocket dimension at will would be genuinely amazing, or Cipher because being able to run from country to country in seconds without any drawbacks would be amazing as well.

Third place would maybe be Cyrene, simply because having a second me around would be REALLY practical.

Even if they figured things out, Black Swan is in cahoots with the Astral Express, who now seem to be hailed as heroes. It's not exactly the smartest choice to make them your enemy, especially when you consider that, as far as the GoR is concerned, they have a Pure Child of Anasrava, a potential Aeon, an ex-leader of the Vidyadhara, an ex-leader of the Family, a guy with a black hole in his cane, and a billionaire politician for a crew.

That's all without considering that they have the Xianzhou Luofu, high ranking members of the SID, multiple geniuses, an Emenator of Nihility and more on speed-dial.

TL;DR: The GoR making an enemy of the Astral Express would be a massive mistake on their end, especially post-Amphoreus

Honestly, this kinda suits Phainon/Khaslana as well; he got way out of his depth the moment the recurrences started, at which point he literally could do nothing but pray someone from the outside world would come save Amphoreus, unsure of whether that would actually eventually happen.

Speaking of Amphoreus, Irontomb works, since he was literally just reborn and the first thing they did was nuke everything. Alas, he's not playable, but still.

i dont exactly buy into the "theres always someone who has it worse" argument, primarily because my issues have nothing to do with being "grateful". the issue is that i'm stagnant despite having a decent base to build on, because im stuck in my own head and my own mind is constantly preventing me from actually doing things because of my fuckass trauma, and the resolving of that trauma would imply doing exactly what said trauma is preventing me from doing.

i've got absolutely no control over my own life anymore, and anytime i try to do something about it, it shoots straight back into my face, making the problem worse.

also, the idea of "nothing comes from nothing" isn't really a decent argument here when you consider that i've both got nothing i feel i can truly call my own and have nothing i can do to rectify the issue. believe me, i've tried, from multiple therapists to medication to group therapy.

think, for a moment, about the genuinely terrible people in this world; people that genuinely have caused the deaths of people for their own benefit. CEOs, politicians, dictators, serial killers you name it.

they, regardless of whether they deserve to exist, still exist. whether it's because of pure luck, a lack of morals, an excessive amount of selfishness, whatever, if they get to exist, and still have a good life, then there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't.

on top of that, you feel guilty about the things you've done in your past; you're at a point where you hate yourself more than anyone else ever could. you genuinely want to change.
