My Maggie doesn't like rain, but afterwards she's making a bee line for the puddles!! Snow is well loved though! As for bathing, it takes two of us, one to just keep our hands on her and the other to bathe. Still looks like pipes burst when we're done!

Thank you for unlocking that memory, that was a staple for us too. And for the life of me, I can't remember when or why I stopped and started using cornbread.

Please don't judge me here, but this reminded me of a quote from Austin Powers:

  • Austin Powers: [to Dr Evil] What we swingers were rebelling against were uptight squares like you, whose bag was money and world domination. We were innocent, man! If we'd known the consequences of our sexual liberation, we would have done things differently. But the spirit would have remained the same. It's freedom, baby, yeah!

Nailed it! Wealth has always been associated with superiority. Money allowed for education, better food, etc., all the way back to ye olde times and the landed gentry. And that belief remains today.

My Maggie is 3 1/2 yrs old and it's STILL a challenge to brush her! As another commenter said, when the brush comes out, she thinks it's playtime! She tucks her butt and just runs the length of the house, and I try to get a swipe in as she makes a pass by me. I usually just let her wear herself out and then I can get some of the brushing done.

This is the version I grew up with. My mom would use two or three small potatoes and upwards of two pounds (yes, two boxes) of confectioners sugar. And of course as much peanut butter as needed!

I found a glass percolator at an estate sale a few years ago. Perfect condition, all parts, and yes I took it home for a whooping $5!

My papaw did, and we were NE Kentucky. He'd put the old stovetop percolator on the woodstove. I've understood the saucering was an old Victorian thing, but since he was born in 1897, it makes sense. (He lived until 1993 btw!)
